Causes: Congregate Meals, Food
Mission: Eats is dedicated to ensuring every student has opportunities to develop lifelong healthy eating habits and access to fresh, nutritious, appealing food. The purpose of eats is to use these educational outlets to encourage students to carry these skills into adulthood. The full circle approach we provide encourages sustainability. If each student is properly nourished, educated on how to make healthy decisions, knows how to prepare food, and is connected to the process, we will have not only have healthier children, but a greater chance at a thriving community.
Programs: We currently operate three educational programs. We administer cooking classes for better health, during the park city school district after school programs, where students gain lifelong, tangible skills and inspiration through experiential learning. Adventure bites is a program in partnership with park city school district (pcsd), with the goal of expanding students palates. Adventure bites takes place in all pcsd schools reaching 5,000 students over multiple lunch hours. Each of the seven pcsd schools have an indoor tower garden, with four hosting outdoor gardens, where students can literally see food go from seed to plate. Teachers and eats staff alike use these spaces to teach a plethora of academic subjects (math, science, engineering), life skills, and a connection to where food originates.
