Mission: Arts education in Humboldt Park's 3 middle schools has disappeared due to lack of funding. Von Humboldt was the last of these neighborhood public schools to cut its arts curriculum. Social service organizations offering alternative programming are also vanishing at an alarming rate. According to several government and commercial sources, 92.5 percent of the youth in these grade schools are from low-income households and 97.4 percent are minorities. After school programming for Humboldt Park youth has become sparse. Â
