Causes: Centers to Support the Independence of Specific Populations, Human Services
Mission: The purpose of chip is to positively intervene in the issues confronted by and surrounding the homeless, and the impact of homelessness upon clearwater and upper pinellas county. Chip will work to establish a continuum of care that will enable the homeless to move from a condition of dependency to permanent housing and self-sufficiency. This is accomplished through direct shelter care, case management, behavior monitoring, and development of new services by focusing the efforts of our entire community.
Programs: C. H. I. P. 's day center and overnight shelter provided homeless individuals with shelter, food, and essential support services such as counseling, case worker review and housing and job placement. C. H. I. P. Also managed a transitional housing facility which provided affordable, quality housing on a short-term basis to those individuals who demonstrated the desire and made the effort to transition back to an independent living situation. Due to the loss of funding, the organization has ceased operations. The day center and overnight shelter closed as of the final shift on may 15, 2011 and the transitional housing program was transferred to homeless energency project, inc. , a 501(c)(3) organization, on june 30, 2011. The organization was formally dissolved on september 11, 2012.
