Mission: To raise awareness and identify carriers of spinal muscular atrophy (sma).
Programs: When we formed the claire altman heine foundation (cahf) in 2004 after claires tragic death, implementing policy to promote pan-ethnic carrier screening for sma seemed like a highly timely but challenging aspiration. Yet, thanks in large part to the unwavering support and inspiration of our donors, we have materially achieved this goal. Together, we have made a difference and helped thousands of families. We are delighted to be moving into the final phases of fully implementing our objective: pan-ethnic carrier screening for spinal muscular atrophy (sma) and have spent the year addressing what, if any, additional programing is appropriate.
