In 2003, m4 won an award from the arizona association of homes and housing for the aging for pioneering a program to provide assisted living (al) services in hud subsidized apartments. In 2014, up to 47 residents received al services, which include 3 meals per day, weekly housekeeping, laundry, activities and 24-hour observation by staff. In 2007 m4 was awarded a $4. 1 million assisted living development grant to expand wellness and dining facilities and refurbish units to the latest al standards. The al addition had their grand opening on 3/17/2010. Today 47 residents living in one-bedroom apartments enjoy aging in place with assisted living services sponsored by arizona long term care (con't sch o) system. These services are provided at 1/3 the cost of skilled nursing services. Every resident in the assisted living program must first qualify for skilled nursing services. These services allow the poorest of the poor to receive assisted living services with dignity in their home. Located on the christian care mesa campus, residents have easy access to low-cost transportation, chaplaincy services, beauty shop, and 24-hour security with an emergency call system. Founded in 1979, the christian care companies began with 96 units of subsidized housing and a 60-bed nursing center on the phoenix campus. The nursing center cornerstone quotes psalm 71:9, cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth. The organization is one of 25 related tax exempt christian care companies (the names of the other 24 are listed on schedule r) who provide housing, hospitality and healthcare services for very-low-to-middle income arizona seniors.
