I have been volunteering with Foothills Community Services / The Bridge since 2010, and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Now, as a board member, I have an even deeper appreciation for the incredible work this organization does. Every Sunday morning, no matter the weather, we serve meals to the homeless—rain or shine. But it’s not just about food. We also provide clothing, church services, and, most importantly, a sense of community for those who need it most.

The heart of this organization is its volunteers and supporters. Without them, we couldn't continue to serve our community as we have for over 20 years. We are always grateful for new volunteers and donations, both of which help us extend our reach and support even more people in need.

Being part of this nonprofit is about more than just giving back—it's about making a meaningful impact in the lives of others and fostering hope. I highly encourage anyone looking to make a difference to get involved. Every act of kindness helps!

What a wonderful, caring organization! Whenever I have visited the Phoenix area, I’ve had the pleasure of volunteering with others. A very moving experience as the Bridge not only feeds the natural body, but they feed the Spirit/soul with the Word of God/giving hope. But the helping hand doesn’t end there. The Bridge also finds resources whether it’s housing, jobs, etc.
I can’t say enough good this about this organization and the wonderful people that give so much back to the community.

My husband and I are blessed to volunteer most Sunday mornings in downtown Phoenix in what people refer to as The War Zone. This organization feeds 600 to 700 homeless people every week. They prepare a hot meal for them twice a month. Clothing and personal products are handed out that have been donated to them. The people we help greet us by name and some have even been able to get off the street. This organization believes that regardless to the circumstances these people are human beings and that someone does care and love them. They are grateful and appreciate the volunteers and any donations they get. They constantly try to come up with other ways to help and listen to any suggestions (ideas) people have.

I challenge anybody reading this to come down and check them out. For me it is a humbling experience. I can promise you will see love and respect from the volunteers, the homeless people and this organization. And you get to hear the message of God!

This outreach is remarkable. They teach about Jesus, feed, and clothe the homeless guests who came down in need. It was a beautiful time full of love. Very organized operation, all members were kind and supportive.

This is a worthy organization to help support. Well organized by mostly volunteers. They feed 500 to 600 homeless people every Sunday morning in downtown Phoenix. They give clothing and personal products to them as well. This is a much needed service and is done strictly by donations and volunteers. I highly recommend this organization for your support.

I have personally been able to spend Sunday mornings twenty times now and have become addicted to the Love of God’s charity emanating from the hearts of these precious individuals whether serving or being served. The Bridge reaches out to answer for a soul’s prayer. Being served here are the connections of Yahweh’s Grace placed stepping stones of help in front of those whose spirit has been torn.

I've been serving with /The Bridge for about 5 years now. One of the things that has attracted me to this Organization is the dedication to the hurting, homeless, and the less fortunate. So dedicated that they actually bought property so we could serve those that are in need right where they are. Every Sunday morning those in the area know, without any doubt, that we will be there to offer a kind word, a smile, a hot or cold cup of coffee. We have accumulated many recourses to assist our friends in almost any way they need. Many that are down in the area are not much different than you or I.

This organization has had a huge impact on reaching out to the homeless community in the Phoenix area. But it goes above and beyond just giving out food once a week.

The volunteers take time to talk to those who show up, getting to know them and their stories. Many have been able to find a way to get off the streets and into a home. Others have been connected to resources in other areas.

The volunteers who serve every week have a heart for people. They give of their time almost endlessly and come away with amazing stories of life. They make the connections with food banks, donors, special events, and make every holiday special in some way for the people who come on Sundays.

This is a great organization and a wonderful community serving their local community.

The Bridge for Community Service has a strong heart for people in need. Besides the other areas they are involved in such as helping with housing, and furniture needs, every Sunday they provide an excellent meal for several hundred people. I enjoy volunteering with them. It’s great to see the smiling faces of the grateful people we serve. I enjoy my time with the other volunteers. It’s a fun time serving together.

I started feeding the hungry on Sundays in downtown Phoenix a little over 3 months ago. The experience makes me speechless. The people that are being fed are truly appreciative of all the help and support. They look forward to our support weekly. They laugh with us, talk with us, pray with us, joke with us, etc. They help us set up and help us clean up. Volunteering on Sundays has made a huge impact in my life so much that my daughters are joining me. It takes one person at a time to make a difference and I feel this is where it starts.

My wife and I began serving with The Bridge just a couple months ago, and we absolutely love it. We were welcomed and made to feel like family the very first time we served there. Everyone there is interested in being the hands and feet of Christ. I feel blessed and honored to be able to serve with them. This sort of volunteer work to feed the poor and homeless, is exactly what we were looking for, and to me this is church, not sitting in a building.

This charitable work began 16 or 17 years ago, when Christine Ellis and her sister Shella started making sandwiches and feeding the homeless with a compelling message of hope, love and recovery every Sunday under the 7th St. Bridge. After the hurricane in Haiti, she started a relief effort for supplies to Haiti which grew with the help of local Realtor Michael Pollack, Fed Ex and I believe the Coast Guard. During the transition, or somewhere along the line, the 7th St. Bridge charity effort was joined by Kat Pollard and Foothills Community Services who worked along side Christine, and eventually shouldered the whole effort. Christine is now running for Chandler City Council. Being a friend of Christine's, I was aware of the work, and enjoyed playing the saxophone at times for the homeless who came to be fed. I'll tell you, the audience was good and appreciative for the most part. Christine used to take a head count and there would be 700 - 800 people being fed. Some people acted strange at odd times, and it was good to be with an organization that knew just what to do. Never did I see anyone get violent or ruin the event for others. I may not be precisely correct on the history, but this is my understanding/recollection of how everything developed. I have not played my sax for them in about a year because of other commitments, but I will keep it in mind, because this is a worthy cause. Rex Decker, Esq. The Golden Rule Law Group.

I absolutely love being a part of this group. Kat, Scott and Jeanette are such a hard working, passionate group of people who give 100% every time they are out serving and witnessing to the homeless. Their goal isn't just to serve the people food and clothing, but they also reach them Spiritually while witnessing to them. They give people HOPE. I also don't want to forget Bob, Linda, Michelle Nelson, Heidi, Dave, Gayle, Carolyne, Leo, Patty, Ferrah and the Ascendants, they are all such a big part of the success of this group. Lastly, thank you Christine for starting this amazing group. I Love the Heart, Sense of Humor and Passion that you give while serving and helping with the set up. You are all amazing people, and we are blessed to help serve behind the lines with you. Love, Michelle Viola

This is a volunteer only organization where all donations go right back into giving out. They give away bicycles about every month for the homeless who have jobs and need transportation. When they receive housing, this organization is there to supply furniture, household goods and groceries. Their generosity extends beyond imagination and I love volunteering with them. They make everyone feel like family! Please consider donating or volunteering! Their website is www.TheBridgeFCS.org
