The criminal justice system often leaves those incarcerated with less than ideal circumstances upon release. I am so glad we found Step One for my brother. They have given him so much support, structure, a job, a home, and a purpose to now serve others. They gave me my brother back, and seeing him healthy and sober is 1000 prayers answered thanks to the staff and program here at Step One.
Step One is truly a special place where the staff and clients accept you unconditionally, with everyone getting the same opportunities to change their life. Step One really turned my life around when I arrived here in 2015. Jump forward 8 years and I am still here, still sober, and helping clients and the organization everyday. I whole heartedly believe in Step One and their mission. I have personally seen an uncountable number of individuals change their habits and behaviors to succeed at becoming functioning members of society.
I am very pleased with how Step One has helped one of my loved ones on his path to overcome addiction. From all I have seen and learned in this process, I would recommend this program to anyone dealing with mental health and/or addiction issues. They truly care for the individual and offer them many oppportunities to overcome their past and move forward to face the future successfully.
My name is Darrin and I came to step one at a time in my life where I just got out of jail and completed a rehab in patient program. Overtime they helped me get my life back on track, I now have my daughter back. I'm in a program to get my forklift operator certification, and I'm happy finally I'm greatful for step one and everything they have done for me
Thurs program works! Coming from a chronic relapser, who has been through almost every program the valley has to offer. This program is different. The staff genuinely cares about each client and makes time to address their needs on an individual basis. If you really want to change your life, not just sobriety, but holistically, and have fun doing it, this is the place for you.
This place is amazing they do so much for people that come in with absolutely nothing by the time they graduate they have a purpose and meaning in their life. And the staff is amazing.
Step One has helped me change my life around. I have a new outlook on life now. They are like family to me. They have helped me with my alcohol problem. I'm a recovering alcoholic and I have my family back now, great friends and family at Step One. Step One really cares about people who live here. I'm so very grateful and I love Step One . Thank you for your help and caring.
My experience with Step One has been amazing from day one. Step One has helped me change my life around. I have meet life long friends, and the staff is amazing. Step One truly cares about your life and does whatever it takes to help you improve it. I consider Step One to be home for me. Step One has helped me and guided me in my program of recovery. The resources at Step One have helped me tremendously.
Step one goes above and beyond to change people's lives. I came to step one upon my release from prison this place helped me up on my feet and provided me with a strong foundation to change my life. The staff go above and beyond to work for you and work with you from entry to graduation. I got my personal documents, a job, and most importantly my family back because of this wonderful program. Thank you to my brothers at step one!
My experience at step one was amazing. I graduated the 90 day scholarship program, and enjoyed my time being there. After I graduated, I was offered a manager position, and enjoy helping others in the program out. The staff there are great people. To all those looking for a great half way house, Step One, is the answer. Sincerely, Joseph Rivas
I can't say enough about Step One! I have been a client since August of 2020. I had been a client in the past and life had beaten me down to a dark place. With the help and guidance of the staff, the twelve steps and a sponsor I was taught a new way to live. I have made life long friends and am able to hold a steady job which I feared would never be possible for "someone like me". This place is home for me now and I couldn't imagine what my life would be like without this place
My story is probably no different than the others. I have had many pitfalls in life. Gave up 9 years of sobriety. Made a conscious decision to start smoking meth. Caught a case which I'm fighting now. However, all of that traumatic experience over the last few years eventually led me here this year. I was tired, beat up, hungry, dirty. I managed to find a job, but sleeping on the train was so uncomfortable. I made the decision to come here with the help of CBI and the day I walked in my life began to change. It was a rough start. However I dug my heels in and began to live. Did my steps, worked the suggested program, followed all the rules and ended up graduating. Through all of that I had the support of the staff. All of them. They supported me gave me enough freedom to succeed or fail. And I choose to succeed. Step One is an awesome place. I wouldn't trade it for the world. I work with IHost which is a program that gets u back in the workforce. And if you apply yourself you could get a job upon graduation. And by the grace of God and Step One I did the deal and got a job at Tonto's Bar and Grill. Also was blessed with a car. Because I choose to believe in my Higher Power, I choose to believe in the Support of Step One and they allowed me to learn me. They allowed the opportunity to live again. They have allowed me to sponsor people. To help me greet people coming in. Run meeting. The people at Step One are awesome. I am grateful for them.I have even been able to bless others with the help of Step One. I can not express enough my gratitude to those people in the office. They know who they are. And their love for the people who come through those gates. Like you never know. Tough Love is something we all need from time to time. And some times we need to know through that toughness, their is kindness, joy, long-suffering, meekness, humility. Thank you so much. I love all of you. If had not been for the Lord and Step One Recovery Halfway House where would I be. May God Bless you and keep you. In Jesus Name. Thank You Step One for allowing me to be apart of the process to live and to help others. I love you with the Luv of Christ and that Luv is unconditional.
Step one was a stepping stone For my life. The staff there truly care about recovery and if that’s what you’re truly seeking you’ll find it there. I am blessed to have been a part of it thank you so much Step One for giving me the tools that I need to be successful!
So I came to step one march 30,2022 in need of help , step one took me in off the streets gave me a house food and a safe place to be , they also gave me my family back , my life, and a will to become a better man. When it came time to graduate the 90 day program step one help me look for work ,provide transport to interviews via bus pass also was willing to give a recommendation of my work ethic , I was able to get a job I’m happy at . Step one is an amazing house , program , and new beginning for my later life to come i can’t than them enough for what they gave to me and I continue to this day stay thankful
I was referred to Step One in early March of 2022. I was at the lowest of the low points in my life. I had lost my family, my job, my car and my whole definition of myself. I was in fact homeless and and had NO hope for my future. I was referred to Step one after being admitted to a CRISIS recovery room. I had NOTHING to offer, no money, no assets, nada. I called and talked to Jeff, the house manager and after a brief phone interview, I was told there was a bed available for me in their scholarship program. I had to commit to a 90 day, 90 meeting program and be willing to go to work. I immediately said yes and was excited to see what this place was all about. When I walked in, I was immediately welcome with open arms. Clients, not staff, offered me food and friendship within MINUTES of walking in the gates. I was then admitted and put into the Ihost program. I was then introduced to what STEP ONE was really about. Flawed people, who want to build themselves back up helping those like me, who had no hope or belief in themselves start to believe again. Jeff, Bradley, the house managers put all their effort and belief into me, showing me that I WAS worth it and that I could be the better man that I always wanted to be. Their hope and effort began to rub off on me and I slowly began to believe in myself. I soon found myself happier and happier as the days went on and the further I progressed in the 90 day commitment, the more the good things that are promised in recovery became available to me. I got hired at the job I was working on the program. I became a sponsor for the other new guys coming in AND I bought a car. All while working in the program and staying true the 12 step principles that are taught here. I had called and tried to admit to many other places BUT I am here to say that STEP ONE is the BEST sober living/halfway house in the state of Arizona. I can honestly say that Shelby, Jeff, Bradley and the rest of the people in THIS community saved my life!!! Both Spiritually and physically!! This place needs to be YOUR first step to your or someone you love steps to sobriety and becoming the person they were meant to be and then they can come back HOME to you a better person and the one you love to remember!!!
Step One has literally changed my life. After years of struggling with alcohol dependency and completing a 90 day behavioral health treatment program I was referred to Step One. Step One has allowed me to press the reset button on my life. I've been able to continue my recovery in an atmosphere that's dedicated to individual and community successes. On site AA Meetings, freedom to work, sponsorship and a strong sense of community with like minded people. I've learned so much and gained relationships that will last a lifetime. As I approach my 1st year of sobriety I can truly say I owe a debt of gratitude to these amazing people!

Please have Jacob call us once released so we can go over our program and make sure we are a good fit for him it is our mission to help those who struggle with addiction.
After years of failure in sobriety and after leaving prison once again, I ended up at Step One Halfway House and it changed my life perhaps I was more willing this time. Step One gave me another chance at life and the blessings that followed have been nothing short of a miracle, I got my family back and most important I got me back. I just want to Thank the Step One Halfway house staff and those who helped me succeed in my recovery. 3 Years Sober.
Step One's program is dedicated to helping men recover from alcohol and drug addiction. They (Step One) gave me the opportunity, tools, brotherhood and foundation to start a new life of sobriety. For that, I am ever grateful. I encourage men of all ages who desire sobriety, to seek out this program.
I stayed at step one for about 4 months. They helped me overcome my addiction. The staff and I became really good friends, and also the people I stayed with were great support!
