Being in Kiwanis and Roswell Woman's Club, I became involved with volunteer charity work with CDA.
After several years, I am now an ambassador for CDA and cannot praise them enough for all the good they do for children in our community. I see happy faces, involved parents, professional guidance and love for children ever time I come in contact with CDA. They are such a value to our community.

I volunteer regularly at this preschool. The administration and teachers are passionate about providing the best possible early education to the students and families they serve. The facility is also top notch with terrific indoor and outdoor play spaces in addition to the well appointed classrooms. They have great reading programs, send bilingual books home with the children and even offer local healthy foods for families to take home.

The North Fulton Child Development Association, Inc. doing business as Children's Development Academy (CDA) has been serving children in the community since 1968. CDA has proven to provide high-quality early education and care that has led to greater school readiness for at risk children from low income families in north Fulton county. CDA not only focuses on the children they serve but also the families they support and education professionals that employ.

I have volunteered and been a board member of this organization for more than 10 years. I never intended to be on the board so long, but I have not found another organization that makes such a profound different in so many lives. The CDA provides excellent education to preschool and pre-k children that enables them to be more successful in grade school and beyond. Educating children can change the trajectory of their lives. It has a multiplier effect on the family and the community. The CDA doesn't merely provide a good early learning environment is it EXCELLENT! Very few preschools are NAECY accredited and Three Star Quality Rated. These represent the highest levels of accreditation available to preschools and are evidence of the level of care and instruction delivered by the CDA. Most of the staff and teachers are long-tenured because of the great working environment and their ability to see the difference they make in the lives of the children. Likewise, many of the board members are long-tenured for the same reason. What an incredible organization!

The North Fulton Child Development Association has given a brighter start to so many children from low income working families over the last 40+ years that otherwise may had a very difficult time in achieving in Elementary School, thus dropping out before even receiving a high school diploma. First as a Facility Community Services Project Team Leader and then as a Board Member for almost 10 years, I never lose the enthusiasm to support such a worthy organization with NAEYC accreditation in making a difference to some of the children in North Fulton. And now this effort has expanded in limited services to 2 other locations in Fulton County and more to come.

I cannot say enough good things about CDA. This is a hidden gem in Roswell where low income families have access to high quality early education for their kids, so that they can have a better future. The facilities, the teachers, and the board that supports this organization are impressive. This organization has dual accreditation, NAEYC and GA 3 star quality rated and the value the kids and their families receive is outstanding. My children were rising kindergartners when I first visited the CDA. We had spent more money than I imagined we would sending them to a quality pre-K, which I think is every parent's reality ("We have to spend WHAT?..."). But, my husband and I could afford it. So off my chidren went to be prepared for elementary school and we didn't think about it again.

HERE IS WHAT'S SO REMARKABLE ABOUT THE CDA: 1 ) This school is every bit as good - if not better - than the one I paid so highly to send my children. 2) It's AFFORDABLE to the most vulnerable families in our society. And research shows that early childhood education can break the cycle of poverty. Our gracious donors and sponsors make this possible, and it is such a treasure for our community.

I have been on the board at the CDA for 5 years. The CDA does an excellent job of focusing on the mission of early childhood education which translates into brighter futures for the children. My father was deaf, he was passed along from class to class, it wasn't until he was in HS that he was put into a deaf school. He had a 4th grade reading/comprehension level in 10th grade and caught up in two years because of the right environment. Its all about the right environments for our children.

I have been associated with the CDA for over a year now. One of the things that continually strikes me is the amount of attention and focus paid to each child as an individual. Yes, they are in a classroom with several children but each child's developmental needs are factored into the daily schedule, curriculum, and experience.

Another wonderful component to the children learning is the opportunity for the parents to be very involved with the education and development of their children. The CDA offers a program that brings parents in to participate in the teaching and learning for the children...talk about reinforcement...

There is no cookie-cutter approach to learning at the CDA. These children get what I believe to be a better and stronger beginning for the future than most children. I can't say enough good things about the CDA. I'm proud to be associated with such a fine organization!

Whenever I visit the CDA, I am blown away by the happy demeanor and orderly behavior of the CDA kids as they participate in a continuous learning experience. Inspired teaching is at work in the classrooms, the cafeteria, the award-winning playground, and in even the most casual interactions. It's no wonder that low-income working parents spend, on average, 20 percent of their income to give their children have this level of early childhood education. The CDA has a profound impact on young lives.

The CDA gives kids a great start at a crucial time in their development, helping build a foundation for learning that will empower them for the rest of their lives. A nurturing environment, outstanding curriculum, visionary leadership, and culturally diverse student body put this non-profit put this early education program on par with the finest in the state. Low-income working parents pay, on average, 20 percent, of their annual income to ensure their kids get the high quality education provided by the CDA. Walking through the school building, you see learning taking place everywhere -- in the halls, in the dining room, and in the visually stimulating classrooms -- all in a happy, positive, upbeat atmosphere. A CDA board member for four years, I feel uplifted and enriched every time I visit this gem of a school. In the past year, the CDA has expanded into the community through the Parents as Teachers outreach program, which teaches non-CDA parents how to take an active role in helping the developing brain to grow.

It is the combination of invested leadership, with experience and natural talent, an engaged Board, and teachers which are constantly improving their teaching skills which makes the CDA a charity to consider for your charitable legacy. THe North FUlton Child Development Association is, in my view, a unique and highly effective organization. It addresses , in a holistic fashion, the problem of high quality, affordable child care for the working poor, as well as supprt for the entire family unit to help break the cycle of welfare, poor performance in schools, lack of basic english language skills, and so forth. It incents parents to take advantage of and accountability for building skills for themselves as well as their children. I am so proud of the measurable results that I have seen out of this organization over the 12 years that I have either served on the board of trustees or as a key supprter . This is a place where you can be certain that your time, talent, and donations make both an immediate AND a sustainable, long term positie impact in the quality of life, education, and futures of so many children and their families in our hometown.

The CDA provides an outstanding educational environment for pre-school age children, giving them a great start as they enter Elementary School. Not only does CDA ensure that the children are ready to begin school on a level playing field, they also provide financial assistance so that parents are able to afford to have their children attend the Child Development Association. Although the educational program is outstanding and deserves applause, what CDA does for families is equally important. It provides a safe environment for the children where they receive nutritious meals, learn social skills as well as academic skills, and gives struggling families who are working hard to provide for their children peace of mind while they work, knowing their children are exceptionally well-cared for.

I have volunteered at a lot of organizations over three decades and the North Fulton Child Development Association is the one I continue to give an increasing amount of my time. The organization leverages it's resources (volunteer time, donations, grants, teachers, etc.) to deliver exceptional early childhood education to a population that could not afford it otherwise and has to a population with the greatest need. Enhancing the lives of these young children can redirect the lives of generations. Thanks to the CDA parents can work full-time jobs and raise the standard of living for their families without public assistance. These parents are so devoted to the education of their child they typically spend up to 20% of their income on childcare and purchase books at bookfares for their children to have reading material at home. The CDA has fostered this commitment to education and changes lives everyday.

The CDA can be defined accurately as a model program. Under the leadership of a very engaged board and a visionary director this school provides exceptional enrichment to a frequently vulnerable segment of our population. These kids are receiving the best early education possible. The curriculum design is as challanging and forward reaching as it is at any fine private preschool available at any price. There is an energy and excitement about learning that is visable. Teachers and staff work together seamlessly toward the same goals. Parents are served and educated as well creating an even stronger potential for success. Remarkably this outreach is done effectively and with great respect. This program is so powerful it will change everyone touched by it; as we see human potential rescued and expanded to allow these children to have the same dreams as the children of the affluent..... and to acheive them. I have been a board member for 7 years and consider it a priviledge to serve here. The growth in quality and services over that time is so dramatic it hardly believable, and truely wonderful.

The CDA is an amazing organization. The board is extremely active and takes care with all funds that are used. The staff, under great direction, goes beyond fulfilling its mission to enable preschool children of low-income working families to make a great start.

My involvement with the Child Development Association has been the most amazing and life changing experience of my life...to date. There is an incredible energy that surrounds this organization, its community, staff and most importantly its students. The opportunity to be involved with this non profit came completely by chance and has be a pivotal force for change in my life. Knowing that my work has impacted the lives of so many wonderful children has made me realize the gift of our greater good. The Child Development Association is truly the voice of Georgia's children.

I could not be more proud to support the CDA and the good work they are doing providing the highest quality education to pre-school children in Georgia. This is an intelligently run non-profit where each dollar we give is carefully spent go to maximize the benefit for the children. You can visit the center and actually see the children's faces light up like light bulbs with the joy of learning. I encourage you to learn more about the CDA and to join us as a volunteer or a donor. Your life and the life of the children in our school will be changed for the better. Nathan Hartman

Its zeal to provide top quality pre-K education at the most important age in the development of children is unparalleled. The staff is well trained and totally committed to students and families. The CDAs careful attention to the funds that they have been entrusted results in better care and education of the children.

It is a proven fact that early education is a key element in the development of an individual´s potential as a valuable contributor to society. The CDA, accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, is especially qualified to achieve this goal for the children of families that can´t afford quality Pre-K eduction. Investing in these children is one of the best ways to guaranty a better community for years to come. Everyday I visit the school and bring visitors to know the CDA first hand my level of commitment to the goal at hand increases.

CDA is truly a blessing to our family. The quality of care my son receives there exceeds expectations on a regular basis. All the teachers and staff that I interact with are engaged and pleasant. They all know my son and I believe they genuinely care for him. (entered by a GreatNonprofits staff member on behalf of reviewer)

I was a part time working mom, looking for an affordable and trustworthy day care. Through a friend I heard about the CDA, and applied right away. I could not believe how affordable and reliable the CDA was, I was blessed to have found a place like this. And now I know many families feel like I feel, (blessed).

The CDA has a profound positive impact on young children and their families. Not only do the kids get a wonderful start on life, but their parents are able to continue working in order to support he family. The organization is very well run, has high standards of integrity and, most importantly, deleivers on its mission. Ed Mactas

The CDA provides working low income single women with the opportunity to support their families while providing an outstanding education for their children. The quality of the CDA education is evidenced by its NAEYC accreditation. Often the affordable alternative to CDA is a home day care situation with the result being that children are not prepared to enter kindergarten and fall behind their peers immediately then never catch up.

I have been involved with CDA for the past 20 years. Without this non-profit, single mothers and other low income families would not be able to enjoy the benefits of working to support their families. The children receive a top notch early education program which enables them to thrive once they enter elementary school. This is the epitomy of a 'teach them to fish' non-profit.

THE CDA IS A VIBRANT DAYCARE PROGRAM GROWING THE MINDS AND SPIRITS OF THE CHILDREN OF FULL TIME WORKING PARENTS WHO ARE ALSO LIVING BELOW THE POVERTY LEVEL. I LOVE THIS PROGRAM BECAUSE IT MAKES THE POSSIBILITY OF A CHILD GAINING ENOUGH GROUND TO MOVE OUT OF THE LIMITED POTENTIAL OF A LOW INCOME JOB.... A REALITY. IN ONE GENERATION WITH THIS KIND OF EARLY AND DYNAMIC INTERVENTION A CHILD OF PARENTS WHO CAN BARELY READ CAN SUCCEED IN COLLEGE IN ONE GENERATION.... AND THESE KIDS ARE LESS LIKELY TO FAIL COLLEGE OR NOT.

The CDA has been a part of Roswell for the past 40 years to help families with young children. The CDA provides an excellent educational environment for preschool learning. There are many opportunities for individuals or small groups that want their volunteer efforts to produce meaningful results. Visit our web site at www.CDAKids.org or call 770.992.4339 to inquire about how you become involved with the CDA.
