Causes: Community Clinics, Health, Human Services
Mission: The mission of the Children''s Dental Health Clinic is to deliver oral health education and comprehensive treatment for economically disadvantaged children, including those with complex medical considerations, while also providing premier training in pediatric and multi-specialty dentistry.
Programs: Our dental care services include diagnoses aided by x-ray, fluoride treatment, restoration of teeth (root canals and fillings), preventive dentistry and oral hygiene education. In addition, our patients are offered an array of specialized treatment including periodontia, orthodontia, endodontia, oral surgery and oral or I.V. Sedation in the Special Care area. We also offer treatment under general anesthesia in the hospital's operating rooms, where our dentists have privileges. In addition, through our Oral Health Education Center, we attend community health fairs, and work in partnership with schools to provide free dental screenings, education and toothbrushes. With a concerted effort to reach out to low income families either by establishing ourselves within their communities or taking our services to them, we have provided over 49,000 people with oral health information, dental screenings and/or education. Last year, within our multi-specialty clinics we treated over 10,000 children, with approximately 33,000 visits.
