Mission: To educate the community on housing needs and to sponsor permanent affordable housing programs regardless of race, creed, gender and familial status or national origin.
Programs: Rental properties. Cfh has owned 7 affordable dwelling units (adu's) at the grove in arlington, va since 2008 and 2 adu's in fairfax county, va since 2009. The adu's are income and rent restricted, with limits established by the respective counties. In 2009 cfh completed the construction of a duplex on charles street in fredericksburg, va. In 2012 cfh acquired 7 single family detached units, also in fredericksburg, va. All cfh rentals are leased to lmi (low to moderate income) local workforce tenants. Cfh continues to co-own its original development, a 30-unit apartment complex, which primarily provides homes to voucher holders; national housing trust is the managing partner. The cfh rental units provide homes to approximately 175 tenants annually.
nsp. The neighborhood stabilization program (nsp) is a federal program established in 2008 and provided funding to states and local jurisdictions to purchase foreclosed properties to stablize local communities. Va received $38. 7 million and has returned $32 million dollars to local communities. Cfh became a grantee in 2009 and has to date, acquired and rehabbed 21 properties; all have been sold. Cfh purchased two additional properties; one is under lease to purchase and the rehab for the second is being completed. The majority of the properties were acquired in prince william county, va; additonal properties were acquired in strasburg, spotsylvania and reston, va.
virginia ely. The virginia ely senior rental assistance program provides rental subsidies to seniors whose incomes do not exceed 30% of the area medium income. Actual average annual incomes are about $16,000; annual incomes range between $8,800 to $23,000. Participants must qualify to live in fairfax county-owned senior facilities and use 40% of their incomes as their rent. This grant-funded program pays the balance of the rent. Subsidies range from $66 to $664 monthly. Participants sre required to apply for the federal voucher program when applications are being accepted. During fy 18, cfh provided subsidies to 55 senior households, consisting of 58 seniors who are able to live independently.
