Mission:
CTC&D is a feline and canine nurture center concerned for the well being and health of homeless cats, kittens, dogs & puppies in need of food, shelter, medical care and love. CTC&D takes in abandoned and surrendered animals, ensures they have proper medical care, places them into foster homes, and adopts them to safe, permanent, loving homes.
In an effort to prevent pet overpopulation, CTC&D ensures all animals are spayed/neutered prior to adoption or shortly thereafter, depending on the age/weight of an animal.
Furthermore, should an animal be in an unhealthy or sickly state, to the point of suffering, or has an incurable disease which is highly contagious to other animals, CTC&D considers euthanizing to be the best option to prevent further suffering of that animal and prevent the spread of disease to other healthy animals.
CTC&D believes in working in conjunction with other rescues and animal control facilities by helping others when they can and donating extra supplies (when available) or taking in / transporting animals as needed.
Programs: The Spay/Neuter & Wellness program consists of veterinary care costs, medications, vaccinations and spay/neuter of all animals in our organization. This budget also takes into consideration assisting other local groups with medications and/or spay/neuter as needed. CTC&D helps to control the local feral population due to the tremendous need for funding in this area. Without funding, the euthanization numbers will continue to increase as the companion animal and feral populations rise. The Foster Program entails assisting each foster with food, litter, bedding and other needs as deemed necessary. Without this aspect, it is virtually impossible to find people willing to help with rescue. Food and litter can be costly when you have 35-50 animals in your program at any given time. CTC&D does accept and ask for donated foods such as broken bags at local grocery stores in the area. In our Adoption Program, we show our animals at local areas and need pet carriers, foldable crates, tables, brochures, etc. to ensure a successful event and to properly describe the available animals. Website links, event funding, drives and marketing needs are also taken into consideration. Obviously, the more people who are aware of your event, the more likely animals are to be adopted. Public Awareness is educating the public of the "need" for spay/neuter, homes, how many animals are available, how many are euthanized, showing a comparison, etc. This is an essential part to the entire process. Recruiting people to help would enhance this program as many of the CTC&D volunteers/fosters work full-time, have families and volunteer.
