Causes: Arts & Culture, Arts Education, Printing & Publishing
Mission: We promote artistic expression that cuts across borders, that engages different languages, that seeks a different context. We are especially interested in prophetic voices, visionary writers and artists, those who challenge our conscious understanding of purpose, place and meaning.
Programs: CIAL has three publishing imprints: Black Zinnias - contemporary poetry and poetry in translation. Black Zinnias, annual journal - eclectic mix of new writing including poetry, short stories, interviews, articles, essays, and art. Coimbra Editions - scholarly books in the humanities with an emphasis on literature and art. Pessoa Press - books by members in our writer's cooperative. We also have film contests: poetry film festival and a festival of short films.
