I’ve become familiar with the work of YVA over the past three years through the involvement of my partner’s daughter. It’s enriched her life (and our’s indirectly) by far more than just incredible musical instruction and beautiful performances throughout the year, but also through the fun/creative/non-musical activities that the kids are constantly engaged in which I’ve found to be at least equally valuable. I’m incredibly grateful for this organization, its staff and leadership. Thank you!
Young Voices of Austin is an amazing organization that brings children together from a variety of cultures and socio-economic backgrounds to develop their music appreciation and vocal skills. My daughter started YVA in the first grade and this is her fourth year in the program. I have witnessed how much she has learned about music, art, science, and cultures from around the world, all in a nurturing and happy environment. After a year of lock down due to the pandemic, I've witnessed firsthand the positive impact of YVA on her emotional health. She feels part of a community and looks forward every week to the YVA day, the monthly retreats and the concerts. My family is honored to be part of this amazing community!
I am a donor and my grandson is in the program. YVA is managed and taught by professionals with a passion for its purpose. It is musically challenging. It is supportive of each child’s studies. It is loving. It is a diverse program, serving kids of all backgrounds. It is empowering. The music reflects a variety of cultures and is sung in different languages. The program has had a powerful impact on my grandson and our entire family. We are blessed to be part of the YVA family!
Young Voices of Austin is not your average choral program. In addition to providing top-notch vocal training for youth, they honor the "whole child" and indeed the "whole community" through their approach that places authentic importance on diversity, civic engagement, and inclusion.
A great organization to bring together youth from all over Austin and build community through music. My child has been a member from its inception and it has instilled in her a sense of confidence and an open heart to others.
This group has been a real light in the life of our whole family. We love YVA and will continue to support its mission.
Young Voices of Austin fosters diversity, charity, and kindness. As someone who has been in YVA since its start, I have interacted and made friends with people I never would have met otherwise, and it has been a blessing to meet people from around Austin to hear their experiences and sing as a group. I have loved being a chorister, and I hope to see even more people join in the future!
YVA is an amazing opportunity for young people, they’re much more than music - providing academic tutoring, a financial literacy curriculum and general life experience like engaging with folks they may not normally interact with in their daily lives. Considering the small staff, this well run organization operates a considerably large amount of programming and manages to keep their donors and supporters informed and up to date. What else could you ask for in a nonprofit? Keep up the good works!
I’ve volunteered a couple of times at YVA. The program they’ve set up for the kids in the community is super cool. I wish stuff like this was accessible when I was growing up. It was great being able to support something so positive. Keep it up Diane!
Young Voices of Austin is an incredible Austin-based nonprofit! I have volunteered on some projects during the pandemic and always felt that I was contributing to a great cause. The leadership team, the volunteers, and of course, the members all work in harmony (pun absolutely intended) to make positive changes in the lives of Austin's youth.
Young Voices of Austin has provided my child with so many opportunities and so much fun. The staff provides so much love and guidance to the choristers which makes them eager to get back to the program. The level of musical education is excellent and the performances are wonderfully moving. I can not say enough good things about Young Voices of Austin.
I am happy to recommend YVA! As a photographer for the nonprofit, I have witnessed tremendous growth and confidence in the kids over the years. It provides a safe space for kids throughout Austin to learn more about themselves and each other. Their singing improves every year and the performing opportunities are increasingly exciting. My heart warms when I see the diversity and love these kids have for one another. It's what we need in the world and I'm proud to be a witness to the example they are setting.
Young Voice of Austin (YVA) is a gift! My daughter has sung with them for two years, growing in her musical abilities and confidence. She receives a quality music education while building friendships with a diverse group of youth from across the city. The YVA adults are kind, fun, and develop a wonderful sense of community among the choir groups. Can’t wait for next year!
Incredible organization for kids. Went to the Hamilton play and it was absolutely wonderful. Can't wait for my daughter to join n ext year as all she ever loves to do is sing a d be happy and express herself through music. Hands down the best shuttle service they have. They go above and beyond for the kids and as a parent to have someone you can trust to drive your kid is very important so this guys deserve 5 starts for sure.
YVA, is the start to a better tomorrow. We love the work this org, does mixing children of different backgrounds and cultures into a tutor slash choir program. What better way to teach our kids we all have more that bonds us than that separates us. A top notch program 100%. Thank you YVA!!!
I've volunteered with The Young Voices of Austin for 3 years. I have genuinely loved going each week, and getting to mentor the choristers of each groups. The staff are all amazing, supportive people, and create a wonderful environment for the choristers to meet each other. This is one of the best places that I've volunteered at, and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
I have had the pleasure of working with Young Voices of Austin, as well as attend some of their wonderful performances. The vibe of this organization is very familial and inclusive, especially towards those more in economic need. Young Voices of Austin is so much more than a choral group, as the program involves extensive mentors and tutoring for academic, social, and recreational activities.
In the last few years I've been fortunate to have been included in some of the academic programming as part of a professional workshop panel, as well as hosting some recreational activities with Pickleball through a local sports club. At all times I see the members and staff treat everyone and each other with the utmost kindness and caring, and I will always be willing to help this staff in their mission as I am able to. If you are reading this, I hope to see you at the next YVA event as well!
YVA is family... a family that builds each other up. YVA is community... a community that empowers our choristers. YVA is a voice... a voice expressed through the amazing children and young adults they guide through music and through their support of education. YVA is important.
Working with YVA is always a pleasure. The kids are invested and caring in their art; the community of staff members are always working together to produce the best outcome for the kids and our voices are heard. YVA aligns its mission to the every day to day actions of its members and continuously strives to progress its communities.
One of the most rewarding experiences is tutoring the choristers at Young Voices of Austin. I’ve loved watching these kids grow over the past two years, helping them with their school work as well as various other concert projects and galas. These are all children who are destined for great things, and I am glad to have been a part of their story and grateful for the role they have had in mine.
