I have had an incredible experience with the community outreach efforts of Building Peaceful Bridges. Our community book club connects renowned authors with members of BPB families, Bridge Builders (Volunteers), and community members who want to be welcoming, supportive neighbors. Creating spaces for refugees to share their stories is an integral part of the work we do and has been incredibly fulfilling for me personally.
Building Peaceful Bridges (BPB) is an amazing organization to volunteer for and to advance its vision of "bridging the hearts and minds of all people." Over the last five years, we have developed an impactful mentoring and sponsoring model that bridges the gap for refugees and newcomers who need the assistance after government resettlement programs end and they begin their journey to gain a sense of belonging in America. Our families and volunteers work together as a family, benefiting everyone. We are so thankful to have extensive partners and sponsors who provide private sector support for our newcomers.

I’ve volunteered a few times and it is such a great experience. The team is very warm and very dedicated, and we get a lot done as we do our work. You can really see the impact we’re making in the lives of these families whether through helping find needed clothing, or even finding a guitar to bring someone joy!
Building Peaceful Bridges is an amazing organization that is filling a critical need in the Chicago area. As more newcomers arrive in Chicago, they need assistance in navigating the journey to independence. Building Peaceful Bridges provides this support along with hope and security. The leadership team is a dedicated group of individuals who have created an inclusion, caring culture, which draws volunteers to this work. I have worked with this organization for the past 9 months and am amazed by the work they do.

Building Peaceful Bridges makes a significant difference in the family life of newcomers to Chicago. My experience has been extremely hands on as I have been welcomed into newcomer homes and have become a trusted friend to many. I have found everyone involved in the organization to be caring, empathetic and positive. We all work towards helping newcomer families find their way to self-sufficiency, which is not easy given the language and culture differences they face. Volunteers help in a myriad of ways, whether it is driving someone to a doctor appointment, tutoring or career counseling. Volunteers are the heart and soul of the organization and we welcome any who are interested in this important endeavor.
Building Peaceful Bridges provides essential support to families that need it most. Their direct, compassionate actions bridge a significant gap in the immigration process. Through unmatched dedication, they help fulfill a wide variety needs. Most significantly, BPB cares about each individual on a personal level. Truly above and beyond.
Through my volunteer work with Building Peaceful Bridges I have had the opportunity to build wonderful friendships with newcomers from Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Democratic Republic of Congo and Central African Republic. As a mentor, I met weekly with many of these families and assisted in their resettlement in the Chicago area. We learned from each other as we practiced English, explored their neighborhoods, shared meals and celebrated holidays together. These mentor/mentee relationships have been built on mutual respect and a shared hope for the newcomers futures.
Building Peaceful Bridges is doing amazing work with the newcomers and individuals/families in need. They offer a wide range of support such as food, health, educational, rental support, etc. Although their team is small, they've made a huge impact on the people they care for!
Building Peaceful Bridges is an amazing nonprofit organization that has transformed the lives of many newcomers that are now settling in the Chicagoland/Indiana area. I am grateful to participate in their many events and celebrations such as their Iftar Dinner, Book Clubs, and Annual Events!
Building Peaceful Bridges is a wonderful organization filled with so many caring volunteers and staff. They help newcomers bridge the gap between government assistance and independence. Everything from helping with transportation to appointments to after school activities to family budgeting and more. The best part is that they work with each individual in the family, no matter their ages, to meet their needs.
