Building Peaceful Bridges makes a significant difference in the family life of newcomers to Chicago. My experience has been extremely hands on as I have been welcomed into newcomer homes and have become a trusted friend to many. I have found everyone involved in the organization to be caring, empathetic and positive. We all work towards helping newcomer families find their way to self-sufficiency, which is not easy given the language and culture differences they face. Volunteers help in a myriad of ways, whether it is driving someone to a doctor appointment, tutoring or career counseling. Volunteers are the heart and soul of the organization and we welcome any who are interested in this important endeavor.
