Mission: The boston arts academy foundation raises funds in support of bostonarts academy. Without this support our young people, living in one ofthe cultural capitals of the world, would have no public high schoolfor the arts.
Programs: Academic support: funds are used to support innovative curricula forboston arts academy's 440 students. Baa's curriculum transformstraditional classroom teaching by being interdisciplinary, hands-on,and project-based. Chief among them is baa's award-winning steamcurriculum, which integrates the arts into stem (science, technology,engineering, math) education and baa's school-wide literacy initiative.
art support - misc. : in additional to a full college prep curriculum,students receive 2 1/2 hours of arts classes each day in their chosendiscipline - dance, vocal music, instrumental music, theater, or visualarts. Funds go to support the arts teachers, adjuncts, art suppliesand production costs not covered by district allocations. As a resultof this unique arts and academic education, over 94% of graduates areregularly accepted to college, most the first in their families to doso.
the center for arts in education (the center) is the dissemination, program development, and advocacy arm of the school. It uses theschool as its laboratory to demonstrate and prove the essential rolethe arts play in student development and achievement. The centeradvocates broadly for the return of the arts to the urban public schoolclassroom. It has trained hundreds of educators and administratorsfrom around the world in the school's best practices.
