Programs: Youth innovative program: environmental education (yipee) the program serves 80 children ages 6 to 11 from humboldt park and hermosa communities in chicago. The program focuses on creating lasting lifestyle changes in children and families. This includes healthy diets, regular physical fitness and an appreciation for the environment. It includes breakfast and lunch, a field trip each week to a different location. Also weekly workshops on different issues such as healthy cooking and domestic violence.
youth making a difference (y-mad) the program serves 50 high school aged youth in the humboldt park community. The program provides dinner and a place where students can learn, grow and develop their leadership skills through guided sessions. The sessions cover topics such as resume building, disaster preparedness. The program also assists and mentors students on college applications and job preparedness.
