Programs: Education services - beacon operates two therapeutic day schools serving elementary and high school age children who have emotional, behaviorial, or learning needs that exceed their local school's capacity. 62 students were enrolled in the agency's elementary program where 100% of the 8th grade received their diplomas and the enrolled students significantly increased their scores in word identification, reading, passage comprehension, calculation, math fluency, applied problems, spelling and writing samples. 114 students were enrolled in the high school program with 100% of eligible seniors receiving their high school diploma with transitions to post secondary education and/or employment. The organization received $15,780 of government grants for this program which is included on line 1e of part viii.
homeless outreach services - beacon's homeless outreach services provide homeless support services to homeless families throughout chicago, assist children and families in obtaining health insurance coverage through the all kids program, and provides integrated, family-focused treatment and support services for young homeless and at-risk mothers. Through these programs 430 homeless households received supportive services to help them cope with the trauma of being homeless and support them in gaining the stability, self-sufficiency, and the self-determination necessary to become stably housed. In addition, these programs assisted 136 children in obtaining health insurance coverage and provided 58 young families with services under the family assertive community treatment program. The organization received $1,143,475 of government grants for this program which is included on line 1e of part viii.
outpatient services - beacon's outpatient services provides several intensive outpatient treatment programs, community mental health services for children, and home-based early head start services. The intensive outpatient treatment programs provided services to 51 children ages 6 to 18 who are often in crisis and require a structured, multi-modal to support and help remain stable in the community. The agency's community mental health outpatient clinic provided services to children including individual and family therapy, psychiatric evaluation, psychological testing, and case managmeent. Home-based early head start services were provided to 48 families and provides comprehensive services to support and strengthen the relationsips between infants, toddlers and parents. The organization received $352,229 of government grants for this program which is included on line 1e of part viii.

I had the opportunity to work for this organization for 3 years, and saw the dedication of the staff. Their programs include therapeutic schools for students with severe emotional problems, and homeless outreach. I worked in the high school and can say that the leadership from the CEO to the principal is excellent. They truly provide the best services available for a difficult clientel.
