Mission: The Baltimore American Indian Center, founded in 1968, grew out of the need for the American Indian community to support one another in the urban environment, to continue cultural practices, and provide a voice for common concerns. The BAIC Border of Directors and committees are comprised of volunteers and a handful of paid positions that provide administrative support, governance, and direct support to BAIC acitivities design to preserve and teach the culture to our youth and the greater community. Our larest annual public event is the Baltimore Powwow held at the Catonsville, MD campus of the Community College of Baltimore County just outside the Baltimore beltway. The powwow provides plenty of opportunity to teach our youth about the culture, educate the public about American Indians, and provide social and recreational activities for our community. The powwow feature champion native dancers, drummers and singers from around Indian County who look forward to this event each year.
