Programs: Seasons:in 2016, abt presented 10 weeks of performances in new york city and 2 weeks of performances in costa mesa, california. Its eight-week spring metropolitan opera house season included the ratmansky festival consisting of the shostakovich trilogy, the sleeping beauty and the ratmansky triple bill featuring seven sonatas and firebird. Also included was a major revival of the golden cockerel and the returning classics of sylvia, romeo and juliet, le corsaire, and swan lake. Abt presented contemporary one-act ballets for two weeks in late october at the david h. Koch theater at lincoln center. In december, abt presented the nutcracker for two weeks at the segerstrom center for the arts in costa mesa, california.
touring: abt's touring brings classical ballet to audiences across the country and around the world. Domestic touring in 2016 included regular residencies at the john f. Kennedy center for the performing arts in washington, dc; the detroit opera house in detroit, michigan; the music center's dorothy chandler pavilion in los angeles, california; the filene center at the wolf trap national park for the performing arts in vienna, virginia. International touring included the opera national de paris in paris, france, in which abt proudly brought american classical ballet to an international audience.
educational training and outreach: in 2016, american ballet theatre's department of education and training served over 18,000 individuals. Abt's primary outreach program is make a ballet: a full-term program at four nyc schools engaging over 500 students and condensed programs coordinate with abt's tour reaching more than 175 students. Abt's student training programs include the jacqueline kennedy onassis school (450 students); summer intensives in 6 us cities (1,350 students) and abt studio company (15 students), a pre-professional program. Abt's teacher training program (abt national training curriculum) had 196 newly certified teachers enrolled in its 2016 courses. To date, the program has certified 1,421 teachers in 48 states and 41 countries.
