Ballet Spartanburg Inc

Programs: Ballet spartanburg enriches, educates and inspires lives through presenting the highest of quality ballet productions. These productions include dancers from ballet spartanburg's professional company, dancers from the center for dance education and guest artists. Ballet spartanburg produced five productions, two as part of the family series: the little mermaid and the nutcracker and three as part of the adult series: an american in paris, love duets and dansynergy, celebrating the power of women.

the center for dance education is an instructional center committed to providing the highest quality dance education in a non-competitive atmosphere. The mission is a collective effort creating a pleasant and supportive atmosphere for artistic excellence to thrive. The center instructs approximately 350 students from spartanburg and surrounding counties. It offers instructional classes for ages two to adult in: adaptive dance for autism and autism spectrum disorders, ballet, ballroom, boys only classes, contemporary, creative, hip hop, irish step, lyrical, modern musical theatre, tap and jazz and tap and twirl.

it is our mission to continue educating and inspiring students and adults. Ballet spartanburg's education and community outreach performs in over 46 outreach sites and impacts over 10,000 children and adults annually. Outreach programs include: lecture/demonstrations for schools; ballet spartanburg city dance, a summer and after school program, teaches dance for at-risk, inner city youth; school residencies; in and after school dance performances in partnership with the arts partnership of greater spartanburg muse machine program; performances in nursing homes, hospitals and retirement centers; performances at community events, festivals and public events; free performances of peter and the wolf for all 5k-4th graders in spartanburg co. Schools; scholarship programs; dance classes in partnership with designated spartanburg co. Elementary schools; dance/movement classes for individuals with parkinson's, dementia and other neurological disorders; adaptive dance for autism and autistic spectrum disorders.

the ballet company is comprised of hired professional dancers and represents the only resident professional company in the upstate.
