Programs: This organization provided housing to elderly and handicapped persons through the operation of a 47-unit multifamily housing complex in scottsdale, arizona. The organization provided decent, safe, sanitary and affordable housing to 45 residents: 84% between ages 62-80, 7% between ages 81-95 and 0% 96+. Of the residents, 19% were assessed to be at risk elders, and 17% were assessed to be frail elders. Arizona retirement homes employs a service coordinator who assisted residents with obtaining a variety of social services and referrals. These services included: advocacy, benefits/entitlements/insurance, conflict resolution, crisis intervention/support counseling, general info/referrals, healthcare services, home management, isolation intervention, food programs/meals and (continued on schedule o) resident councils. The service coordinator also arranged for resident in-services and classes on topics such as: safety talk with the scottsdale police department, diabetes education and empowerment, medicare q & a, medicare updates, amazing aloes, nutrition: during the holidays and nutrition: setting goals. The service coordinator coordinated other on-site programs for: second saturday volunteers, brown bag, waste not, food plus, st mary's food bank, flu shots, monthly blood pressure checks, walking club/fitness/wellness education, matter of balance, tai chi and various trolley trips. The residents benefited from other weekly and monthly social activities arranged by the service coordinator and the resident council, including craft class, card games, bingo birthday/holiday celebrations and coffee. Residents also used the nearby granite reef senior center for additional services, programs and activities. Arizona retirement homes-ii shares a neighborhood network center (nnc) with arizona retirement homes-i which provided residents with three computers, computer instruction and high-speed internet access.
