To promote the sport of rodeo for junior kids for the purposes of maintaining and/or increasing interest in the sport and to build closer relationships among people interested in this activity and the organizations they may represent.
Programs: The arizona junior rodeo association promotes junior amateur sports competition for arizona youth ages 4 through 18. Membership in the arizona junior rodeo averaged 135 youth during the twelve months from 09/01/2016 to 8/31/2017. The association sponsored 8 events that took place in various statewide rural communities. Ajra contestants pay an entry fee in order to compete. Each rodeo competition is two days long. The kids are divided into four age groups to equalize competition and compete in each of their entered events each day. The kid with the fastest time is the winner. Winners are awarded prize money and usually an additional related prize such as a horse blanket, bucket, buckle, etc. Contestants put many hours of preparation into riding their horses and practicing their events before each rodeo in order to improve the skills required to compete. Contestants are also awarded points at each rodeo for how well they place in each event they participate. These points are then used to determine the season winner for each event and the overall all-around champion. These high point earners are then recognized for their hard work and awarded related prizes such as saddles, buckles, etc. At our final rodeo of the season.
