Mission: Archi-treasures is an arts-based community development organization that uses participatory design to engage and strengthen urban communities. We partner architects, artists, educators and other professionals with community and neighborhood groups, citizens and students to facilitate creative urban design solutions.
Programs: In 2017, archi-treasures worked in 6 chicago neighborhoods (uptown, near west side, douglas, grand boulevard, south chicago, and west pullman), delivering arts workshops and events for 400 children, youth, and seniors. The organization partnered local residents with professional artists and designers to create site specific projects including murals, sculptures, and decorative furniture to beautify and enhance common areas within affordable housing developments and neighborhood public spaces. Archi- treasures also completed an exhibition at the loyola university museum of art and launched 4 new public art projects including work at the historic rosenwald courts apartments in bronzeville and the major taylor trail near the calumet river, and two outdoor installations in the city's 50th and 4th wards as part of chicago's 2017 year of public art initiative.
