Causes: Health, Medical Disciplines
Mission: The mission of the vafp is to empower its members to be personal physicians who provide high quality, accessible health care, dedicate themselves to the well-being of the citizens of virginia, and are guided by the principle that the family physician is the specialist of choice for lifelong health care.
Programs: An annual meeting is held for continuing education purposes for family physicians. Attendance is open to all health care professionals in virginia and neighboring states.
various seminars and symposia covering current medical issues are held for continuing educational purposes for family physicians. Attendance is open to all health care professionals in virginia.
the third largest program is governmental advocacy/legislation to increase continuity, expertise, and participation within the academy in the areas of legislation and advocacy.
the academy publishes a family practice medical journal periodically. Copies are free to virginia family physicians.
