Mission: The alliance for nonprofit management is a catalyst to ignite and accelerate the impact of individuals and organizations helping nonprofits achieve positive social change.
Programs: In 2017, the alliance focused on our mission to increase the effectiveness of the individuals, groups and organizations that help nonprofits and communities achieve positive social change. With more than 250 members including consultants, academics, students, grantmakers and non-profit professionals, we provided a rich blend of opportunities designed to enhance practice and inform research in the field of nonprofit capacity building. Specific programmatic accomplishments included:- transition to a new membership database and website to facilitate communication and education among members and non-members. - active and ongoing webinars and educational opportunities focused in four key areas: executive transition and leadership continuity; capacity building organizations; advancing racial equity; and governance. We offered three sessions of our popular training series for interim executive directors, called the nuts & bolts of professional interim executive management. - partnership with arnova for our annual capacity builders conference, held in grand rapids, mi with more than 800 in attendance. The conference theme was strengthening local communities: the role of nonprofit and philanthropic organizations. - presentation of the annual terry mcadam book award to exploring the link between innovation and impact, by christian seelos and johanna mair. This award highlights the very best thinking in management, governance, and capacity building, and helps expose practitioners to new knowledge and approaches in the field. - hosted a regional gathering in boston the northeast forum on race equity and capacity building.
