We went through the entire process to adopt a German Shepherd -- application, home visit, references and everything looked great. Then they accused us of lying and saying we didn't own our home. We had just purchased it a couple months earlier, and the tax records weren't up to date in the county system. Rather than ask us about the discrepancy and request proof if ownership, they jumped to accusations of dishonesty. Once I showed them that this was their error, they did not apologize, and they then made excuses about dogs not being suitable and never connected us with a dog. Such a frustrating and disappointing experience. We are veteran dog owners who have always adopted, and this was the most convoluted and unrewarding process.

The process was arduous at best, but we were fine with that. We were not fine with the tacit implication that we lied on our application when the tax records hadn't been updated yet by the county so the info displayed was not current. We were not fine with the defensive emails instead of owning the error. We were not fine with the fact that they wouldn't let us meet a dog because she "air snapped" when excited, so they deemed her unsuitable for us, even though we were fine with it. We were not fine with the idea that they are the 1st contact on the microchip even after we adopt the dog -- do they think we're renting? We were not fine with the fact that, even though we completed the process with great referrals & home visit, no one ever contacted us about actually adopting a dog. Clearly the defensive person at the other end of the emails doesn't want us to have a dog! Oddly , they still ask us for money.
We adopted from WARL. Our dog air snaps when he is excited and is GREAT with our kids.
