Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Arts & Culture, Counseling, Film & Video, Hot Lines & Crisis Intervention, Mental Health, Suicide Prevention

Mission: ACA, currently doing business as Rites of Passage, was founded in 1988 by Cindy Pickard to provide services for terminally ill patients- AIDS patients were the most in need at that time- and to provide education on AIDS and on death and dying for the Austin/ Travis County, Texas community. In the ensuing years, R.O.P. became more involved in education, producing documentary videos and photo exhibits on AIDS, death, dying and aging. These videos, many of which have won national awards, and exhibits brought the work of Rites of Passage to a worldwide audience and have become an integral part of the seminars Rites of Passage now offers throughout the U.S. Currently, Rites of Passage is in the process of completing a unique and beautiful, very timely project on loss, grief and transcendence. Please visit our website at www.ktc.net/ritesofpassage for information on BETWEEN NOW AND FOREVER.
