I have been a donor for over 14 years. This is an amazing organization, all volunteers, no salaries all donations go directly the children, refugees, monks, nuns, schools as designated by the donor. I have always found them to be responsive and to take on the work answering all questions in a prompt, professional and most importantly kind manner. The stories of these refugees are heartbreaking and these are children and families who have been wholly displaced. Consider donating.
What an impressive organization! I had the pleasure of sponsoring a Tibetan girl for many years under the guidance of the Executive Director, who was warm and professional in every interaction with me and responded quickly to my questions about my ward. I recommend this organization to you without reservation.
i sponsored 6 monks at one point, and have built some amazing friendships with my sponsees. i have been frustrated by the lack of TibetAid website, which has been down for over a couple years, and i can see why some may be deterred. i do know that 0% of donations goes to administration, totally volunteer operated. They are a wonderful organization.
As other have said - be wary. Their web site has been down for a long time. They are not helpful or friendly on the phone. Look at what other people say and look at their financials. If you are interested in supporting Tibetans, I suggest you look further for professional and reliable organizations - International Campaign for Tibet, Tibet Fund, etc. There are several good ones doing great work.

This review seems to have confused Tibet Aid with another organization. Tibet Aid currently is served by an all-volunteer staff, making our salaries equal to $0. Our financial information is available on GuideStar (www.guidestar.org) for verification.
Not responsive or helpful. Web page down. Phone calls not answered. When I did reach them, their answers to my questions were evasive. Thankfully there are other organizations supporting and I skip this one.

We are a very small volunteer organization and apologize for not always being able to respond promptly. Thank you for wanting to help!
This is a great organization that support Tibetans in exile and at home directly with little administrative expenses. The 1-star reviews for this organization are factually incorrect and likely were left by people trying to discredit those that directly help the Tibetan people - don't let that discourage you from helping this fabulous organization!

Like the other person said, look at their salaries. You can send a letter to the IRS asking for the information. Way over paid and the compensation gifts that were supposed to be given based on the amount of the donation, never happened either!

Too much money is spent on salary and other expenses. Before making a donation, be sure to review their tax returns. You will be surprised at the percentage of income spent on staff salaries.

I am generally reluctant to donate to charities given that they can be quite generous in giving to themselves in the form of executive salaries. At Tibet aid 100%, i.e. all of the money that I donate, goes directly to the person of my choice, either in Tibet or in exile (i.e. India). While donations to support the office are encouraged, they are not mandatory. There are no obnoxious and wasteful glossy mailers with gimmicky inserts, just direct support at, I must say, rock bottom prices. $20 will support a fellow human for a month who might otherwise suffer. That's why I like Tibetaid with no reservations.
