I love the great work the Springfield Rescue Mission does for our community. I've seen first hand how SRM has changed lives and saved lives. Their goal is not only to fill the physical needs (millions of meals in a year, housing, clothing, etc.) but to build people up to what they can be. No other group offers a future for the homeless, addicted and lost people of our community.

I have often brought fresh picked veggies from our community garden at MassMutual, often stopping by after 5pm, on my way home. Every time, I am warmly welcomed, and always thanked profusely by everyone I come in contact with. It is a pleasure to stop by, and see people getting fed, and nourished, their daily bread, and then some, in many ways!!
Well done, good and faithful servants!!!

I am a regular donor to the Rescue Mission. They have always provided a critical service to the community, but more so at this particular time when so many have needed a resource for food, shelter and clothing.

The Springfield Rescue Mission has changed the lives of so many men who have lost their way through addiction or alcoholism. They have given hope to these individuals who made the decision to rehabilitate themselves. They also help feed a needy community on holidays, hungry children needing to fill the gap during summer vacation, and anyone who needs support. They make sure children have bookbags and school supplies. They are always there for anyone in need.

I began volunteering once a week at SRM about nine years ago. It was a new experience for me being surrounded by men who have struggled with various addictions on many levels. It took me a few months to get comfortable with not just the men going through the program, but with guests that we fed at breakfast. I was raised in a middle class family that had "proper manners," so it was difficult for me to adjust to the street wise attitudes. But as time wore on God softened my heart and has blessed me with the men that go through the program as well as the guests. I have seen men transformed, from being a regular breakfast guest, to coming into the program, and seeing the transformation that God has done in their lives. The SRM truly seeks to honor God and serve the community. What a blessing they are to me, as a volunteer, and to those that they serve.

Hello everyone, I started volunteering at the mission before covid-19 while I was at Holyoke Community college I was doing it for my human resources class. My first day was great I got to work with some great people and I learn how to cook baked chicken that day. I love working in the kitchen and severing the community. My second day at the mission I helped at the operation Sunshine where me and other volunteers handed out lunches and meals to the community. Each and every time I volunteer at the mission it make me proud to be able to give back to my community.

The Springfield Rescue Mission,is by far one of the greatest nonprofit org. Ive encountered, researched and volunteered at. Everything about this organization is that they are really making a difference in battling homelessness and keeping families especially men off the streets. They have a lot of success stories on Facebook and Instagram . All of those people are real because I have personally met a few of them. I've also met the CEO Kevin and Rev Joe and he is truly an inspiration to many and to me as well. I help out 3 days a week in the kitchen. I work with Jason. He is one of the best always working hard and he is so thankful for any and all help that you may give. Be humble and happy every day of your life.

My name is Robert Small and I am so grateful for the service's that was provided to me. I traveled from CT to MA to receive support which I was spiritually bankrupt and was dealing with addiction. I came to the realization that it wasn't about my wants but my needs and understanding the purpose of my being. Which I was in denial for 0ver 20yrs that GOD was my source of strength. After accepting Christ into my life I found a peace of mind and continue to use the knowledge and skills that was provided to me and now Im 5yrs without a drug and a productive member of society and I am forever grateful for Rescue mission...

I have volunteered with this organization on several occasions in the past. I have been thoroughly impressed by their care for the people that they help. They not only give them a place to sleep and a meal, they provide a chance for a new life. If a meal and a bed is all that the person is looking for they can provide that, but they are offered so much more. Counseling, fellowship, work, skill development, spiritual guidance, job placement, and the list goes on. The staff are truly sincere in their desire to help the people that come through the doors of the Springfield Rescue Mission.

The Springfield Rescue Mission does more than give people a hand out. They give them a hand up! They provide food, shelter, medical care and clothing to the residents who live at the mission free of charge. They have an open breakfast 6 days a week for anyone, including women and children. The residents are able to work on their educational needs with their up to date computer classroom. They not only receive book learning but practical day to day living classes. Some of them have never had to clean up after they eat, or do laundry or even share. The councilors and staff show the love of Jesus Christ in all their interactions with all who come to the Rescue Mission. They are always prepared to go the extra mile for all, residents, volunteers, homeless and hurting people.

9 years ago I got a letter in the mail from the Mission that prompted me to donate. Since then, I have suffered alcoholism, financial hardship, and depression, but I never stopped donating what little i could to the Mission, since they provide programs for people exactly like me. There are not enough rehab programs in the state of MA to serve the needs of people who suffer from this disease, but I'm proud to say I can help one that does. I am not a person of any organized religion but I do believe that generosity and love beget generosity and love and THAT is all that matters. The Mission is clearly doing that.

The Mission has been a fantastic resource for the folks who need help in physical ways, but also emotional, especially after the June 1st tornado that ripped through the Greater Spfld area! So many people affected - thanks for all those volunteers who were "on the streets" bringing food, water and comfort to those who lost property, to the security folks and construction workers. Wow - keep up the good service! I will continue to support these folks!

We appreciate the work of the Springfield Rescue Mission. We exist in a partnering relationship with them. When people come to our Church with lives controlled with addiction, we have the resource of the Mission to connect with. We have sent several men to the Mission.

Some men in the Mission program, in transition living at the Worthington St. facility, or newly out on their own have made our Church their church.

We are grateful for a partner able to provide quality service to those beyond our ability and expertise. We financially support the work of the Mission.

Technically I am a client served via the Capitol City Rescue Mission of Albany, NY, however this opportunity to offer my support of a sister mission is a great one.
My name is Anthony McCann. I lived in and was a member of the "New Life Christain Disciple Certificate" program at the Albany rescue mission in 2009-10.
The many services that my mission and indeed all missions across the country provide are essential to the sustaining of neighborhoods where they are located. Principal services that allow one to regain a sense of order and direction (hope) is readily provided and necessary.
My experience allowed me to become a truste member of the mission and to work as a intake desk volunteer on Weekend evenings. needless to point out all things happen from 4pm - midnight at the mission. My training and spiritual advancement enabled me to offer hope and encouragement to men of all walks of life. I grew and God's development of my spiritual purpose on earth has been identified and now I live to serve.
Perhaps $5000.00 doesn't appear like much to those who are gainfully employed, however to aid in the furtherance of the missions statement and purpose, this is a fortune. I thank God daily for my landing in th Capitol City Rescue Mission and I thank all administrative and general staff, esp. my pastor councelor, Rev. Don Lyons. to God be the glory for the things He has already done in the lives that rescue missions touch.
If I can be of further assistance, please contact @ (860) 913-3136 or via email: anthonymccann2000@yahoo.com

As a long time donor and volunteer, the Mission is very close to my heart. I have a family member that could benefit from the Mission, but unfortunately, he is not in the area. I admit to starting my volunteer work and financial support for selfish reasons - it simply made me feel as if I were helping my Brother. I soon came to realize the joy it brings me to work with the staff in this ministry. I have seen first hand the transformation of many of the men that have gone through the 12 month program - and will continue to support this Christian organization in any way I can.

I am not only a donor, but I have volunteered at the mission, I have attended one of the graduation services, and I have toured the mission.
What a phenomenal ministry. The fact that they offer meals, overnight lodging at the mission is great, but they also go out into the streets and offer food (which I did), and other items like Hope Totes and Back Packs for school.
The one year program that the Springfield Rescue Mission offers to men to help them find a place in the community is beyond what I could imagine. To witness these men graduating at the end of their one year was so meaningful and to hear their stories how they have (in some cases) reunited with family brought tears to my eyes.
I don't have enough words to describe what a great job the Springfield Rescue is doing in the Springfield area.

I am a local area Pastor of Music & Worship and I have had several opportunities to serve at the mission. They are an have been an example of faithfulness and generosity through the years and their recovery program is well run and thorough. They have made a major impact for good not only on the men who regularly find shelter and healing from life's storms but also on the community at large with their Thanksgiving meals, Operation Sunshine runs (which distribute food to needy family within Springfield) and their program to collect school materials packed in a backpack for underprivileged children beginning their school year.

I have had the pleasure of meeting the staff at the Springfield Rescue Mission and have taken a tour of their facilities. I was overwhelmed by how much they care for the people they serve and it was a truly humbling experience. I have been there several times since to make donations of various kinds and every single time I have gone there, no matter what time of day I have always been greeted with a smile and offered help to unload the car. They always say "Thank You" and have a great attitude. I absolutely love going there because there is a feeling of hope and everything they do and teach is centered around God. The Springfield Rescue Mission is actively helping those that most people will walk by and not give a second glance at. I have invited staff and residents from their program into our Church to share their stories and it really touched everyone. This is honestly one of the best non-profit organizations I have had the pleasure of working with.

I have being donating clothes, goods and money to the Springfield Rescue Mission for over 12 years. My experience with them have being awesome. Not only they are grateful for anything you can provide. They are also very polite and pleasant. When they see me park my car they go out of there way to help me with my bags. A couple of times when I forget to get my tax deductable paper, I just make one phone call, and within days I receive it in the mail. They have welcome me to see for myself were my donations are going. Something unique compare to other organizations. They also talk to my kids in a friendly cordial way. I have recommend this organization to my friends and family. Since I find them to be genuine and honest in wanting to help those in need. It does not matter the time of day, they always receive me with a smile on there face. This for me is priceless. Since it makes me feel that a to make a difference.

The Mission Statement of the Springfield Rescue Mission "to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the hungry, homeless, addicted, and poor" is definitely what the mission does. The men the mission serves receive help to get back on their feet and become regular contributors to society. SRM truly gives "hope to the hopeless".
Our church has been able to serve alongside the mission through donation drives such as the hope totes and underwear drive. Our church youth have been able to learn about service to the needy by being involved in preparing meals and serving meals at SRM. I am thankful to the Lord for their much needed ministry and I am thankful to be part of it.

I have been blessed to be able to serve and assist with meal preparation at the Springfield Rescue Mission. Everyone I have met involved with this program has been kind and grateful. I learn so much every time I go and I am sure I am enriched far beyond my small assistance each time I leave. It is rewarding to be hands on and see the immediate results of my efforts. I have also been fortunate to help a few instances with their Operation Sonshine. My connections to the people have taught me much and I grow in understanding I hope with each visit. The Rescue Mission is quite the busy place with much to do and many hands make the activities fly by with lots of smiles.

SRM actually began in the kitchen of Elder Cummings and his wife who always had a pot of food cooking on her stove. Elder Cummings would bring the down and out to their home for nourishment of body and soul. I know this to be a fact because I knew their daughter, Ella Cummings, who told me about her father and mother. And today, SRM still takes care of those in need, be it food for the body or spiritual nourishment. I am pleased to be able to support the Springfield Rescue Mission!

Additionally they go out into the community looking for those needing help and meeting as many needs as they can. They share the love of Christ and hope to people as well but they don't force it on anyone. This organization has been something I have donated throughout the years. It's goal is simple. To provide hope to the hopeless. To show love and concern where a person may never have felt it. I give because it is a local charity that gives a hand up rather than a hand out. If I should ever find myself in such dire need I would pray that someone who has enough would be gracious enough to share..."there but for the Grace of God go I"

My life was changed by volunteering at the Springfield Rescue Mission. I am a practicing physician in our area and helped out with medical visits there. In reality, my best experiences were volunteering in the kitchen, with groups of teens from my church.
I was able to see and hear first-hand the impact this wonderful group of people and the grace of God made in the lives of the homeless and addicted.
One person at a time, lives are being rescued from hopelessness, and doors are being opened to faith and a new walk in life for the thousands of people who pass through the doors of this humble facility---residents, guests, and volunteers alike.

The Springfield Rescue Mission plays a crutial role in the survival of homeless and needy in the Greater Springfield area. Their Operation Sonshine offers food, personal care essentials, and encouragement where it is needed most, the neighborhoods and streets of the city. The Emergency Shelter offers a warm bed, hot food, and a stable roof for the night for those who temporarily cannot afford one. The staff is friendly, kind, and willing to help in constructive ways. While seeing to many people's short-term needs, the Mission also focuses on the long term assistance that will make a permanent difference in people's lives. Targeting heart, soul, and lifestyle through their in house programs for men, they provide resources for the men to change their lives and become independant and functional again. Their ministry has impacted not just Springfield and MA, but the whole of New England for the better.

I am a youth pastor in town and have brought my youth on numerous occassions to volunteer with this organization. We have had a full tour of their facility and met with the man in charge. He is clearly a man of God with a heart for changing mens lives. I have been extremely impressed with what they do. Working in the kitchen with a man who went through the program himself I saw firsthand how a drug adicted homeless person got back on his feet and is now making a difference in the world.

Every year we help them pack hundreds of back packs for underprivilaged children and we also help feed the hungry with them on occasion. This is a ministry that I enjoy helping and supporting because they are doing so much good in the name of Jesus.

They offer a much needed service in the Springfield Area, especially during these extremely difficult times, for those individuals who need a helping hand.
Keep up the good work and may God Bless You All for your service.

The Springfield Rescue Mission does what any organization should do...they keep God in the formula for success. I once had the honor of serving lunch to the men housed at the Rescue Mission. It was clear to me that, not only was God present in this facility, the men were letting Him into their hearts. I am not a wealthy donor; however, if I were to win the lottery, my wish would be to build a larger, new facility for the Springfield Rescue Mission so that more lives can follow Proverbs 3:6: "in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

I just wanted to comment the Spfld Rescue Mission on the phenomenal job they do for the people who are so in need. i've lived in Springfield for almost my entire life and donate whenver I am able. I only wish I could do more for the people that are so dependent on the mission and their services.

Keep up the good work! It doesn't go unnoticed.

This entity is well run and serves an enormously important role in the greater Springfield area. Their continued commitment to lifting the spirits of their clients and providing guidance and sustenance on many levels is the hallmark of this long time fixture in downtown Springfield. This winter, in particular, with its harshness in terms of temperature and unbelievable amount of snow, has shown that the Rescue Mission can rise above even the largest hardships and deliver amazing and empowering service to all of their clients.
