I have loved working with Operation Literacy the past several years as a sponsor of some events. Teen Author Boot Camp was always a joy to be a part of and now I am excited to be one of the sponsor of Story Con next year. Any organization who puts literacy first and starts it early with kids deserves the biggest shout out!
Operation literacy is full of incredibly hardworking people who are passionate about helping children succeed. They know literacy is the secret to children's success, and they are dedicated to bringing a love of books to children everywhere.
This organization is changing lives. I have witnessed firsthand the inclusion, inspiration, and enthusiasm of youth at the Operation Literacy events. I have also seen the tireless efforts of the many volunteers who are making a difference at so many levels with literacy and opportunities for underprivileged youth. I love this group!
I volunteer in the Book Drop branch of Operation Literacy. The most amazing part is seeing the response from the low-income schools who receive free author visits, and an author signed book for each of their students...
The excitement from the students is palpable, and the assembly's given by the authors to the students are inspirational!
I presented at their Teen Author Boot Camp conference in 2019, and was wowed at the high level of engagement they had from over 1,000 teenagers.
Operation Literacy is not only an incredible organization, but the work being done there is vital to our communities. Children's literacy is something that we can't neglect, and Operation Literacy is not only doing the hard work but also making it fun for children to be involved in. I love working with the people in the organization as well as seeing the difference we're making in children's lives. I just can't say enough wonderful things.
I haven't come across any other organization so dedicated to literacy with such a unique platform in all of America. Operation Literacy reaches out directly to the next generation of writers, connecting them with the greatest writers of today, all while donating books to underserved schools, and supporting teachers with lesson plans and supplements for classes. Their newest venture, BookCon, is tying all of this together in one convenient location with scholarships and grants making it possible for anyone to come, learn, meet their heroes, and leave inspired. I love volunteering for them and seeing the magic happen first hand!
The Operation Literacy staff are caring and dedicated people!
They run several programs that inspire thousands of kids every year to pick up books and write their own stories.
From hosting their annual Teen Author Boot Camp where NYT best-selling authors workshop with Tweens and Teens to help them improve their writing, to donating free books and author visits to low-income schools, and hosting free writing contests that give teens professional publishing opportunities. Operation Literacy's goal is to inspire children and young adults of all ages to develop a love of reading and writing.
Can't say enough good things about this organization.
As a parent I have sent my children to Teen and Tween Author Boot Camp. As an educator I have sent my students to these events too. These events are huge content and morale boosters for students. My children come back ready to write their own books and my students come back more confident in literacy. We are so fortunate to have this amazing organization that connects authors, writers, parents, educators and community builders.
I was privileged to be a volunteer with Operation Literacy when author Nick Brooks did a Book Drop to a title one high school during his visit as a keynote speaker to Teen Author Boot Camp. The staff was leery if the students would listen respectfully, but the way they responded to him and reacted to getting a book of their own from an author they met personally (who earned their respect rapping on stage, etc.) was obviously impactful. Operation Literacy is really making a difference with their efforts to elevate literacy for all. I have personally witnessed countless hours the founders and volunteers have donated towards their mission, and much of it on their own dime, against all odds, and it is inspiring.
I have had multiple friends and neighborhood kids attend the various different activities and conferences put on by Operation Literacy and cannot say enough about the work they are doing! They provide a platform for kids to be who they are/who they want to be, and to develop skills that will serve them the rest of their lives. I've also been able to personally witness the look on hundreds of young faces when they receive the news that they will be receiving their own copy of a book, signed by the author, free of charge. You could tell this was the first book many of these kids have ever owned before, and the excitement in their eyes was palpable. The work Operation Literacy does to spread literacy among the most needed portion of the population is admirable. Can't say enough about this Non-Profit and all that they are trying to accomplish!!
I went to TABC as a teenager and now I work as an Ambassador/Intern for them. I love that they are willing to adapt as things change, this non-profit is very resilient through every up and down, and willing to take suggestions. I also love their nature of collaboration with the authors, other non-profits, and the schools in Utah!
I'm honored to be a part of this nonprofit and its mission to elevate literacy for young people. I have seen the impact on so many young people over the years. They provide fun events, curate educational materials by best selling authors, and deliver free books to underprivileged kids. This is changing lives and helping to create hopeful futures for many kids who need it most.
I had the opportunity to be at the Tween Author Boot Camp. The kids loved the experience and it was a well-run event. Definitely recommend!
As an author, I have seen many great organizations whose mission is to encourage young readers and writers. But nowhere in the country have I seen such excellent quality as what is found with Writers Cubed Inc. The writing conference is creating hundreds of new writers every year. The leadership in this company is paid little or not at all. They do this out of a love for young people. And that is only one part of many aspects to their mission. It is a privilege for me to have any role to play with them.
They have been a great company to work for. Everyone is really focused and passionate about literacy for kids.
Teen Author Boot Camp is very well organized. If you stop one of the attendees in the hall you always get a happy glowing report. It's an incredible value for the money! Really, I don't know how they can do so much for charging so little! And, where else can young people have such great access to so many amazing writing professionals? Their work to increase literacy and interest in books is extremely worthy, especially in an age where screen time and social media is swiftly becoming the leading cause of mental illness and as a result suicide. I currently have two teen boys and I absolutely plan on them attending every year they are eligible.
I have attended both Teen Author Boot Camp and Tween Author Boot Camp for numerous years as a chaperone. I have taken dozens of aspiring teen writers to these events. We are from a small, rural community with very few resources for creative writing. These events have been an invaluable resource for our students to further their writing expertise. I highly recommend these events to any young writer wanting to improve their writing skills.
Writers Cubed Inc is a non-profit that helped me gain so much self-confidence and admiration for hard work through writing. Through their Teen Author Boot Camp resources and Book Drop, teens all around the world get to participate in writing activities that not only encourage success and creativity, but creating communities that bring many quieter kids out of their shells. Being able to participate and volunteer at TABC has built my character and my love for serving other people through something I love, stories. You can just feel the excited energy and love, the founders of Writers Cubed have for their purpose and for the people they serve as well. I came in volunteering to help other, and in doing so I gained so much more than I thought I would. I'm grateful for all the hard work that goes into these event and hope they continue on for decades to come.
I had a great experience helping out with the Tween Author Boot Camp 5K run! Organizers were efficient and enthusiastic. You could tell how much they enjoyed both literature and young people. Along with the 5k, there were events for people of all different interests. It was a wonderful day, and I was impressed with the leadership and organization.
My 12 year old has been spending lots of time watching videos and reading on the TABC website. She’s been working on her own book for awhile and has found great inspiration and tips.
Thank you again!
My daughter feels SO excited to connect with all the authors Writers Cubed is bringing to her life. Just last night, we had the free webinar with Gary D. Schmidt, and the chance to connect with such a wonderful author and hear his validation of her writing ideas is an inspiring, beautiful opportunity. I can't wait until she can attend her first TABC conference live in March. She is so thrilled!
