World Fellowship shows the promise of what life could be when people dedicated to social and economic justice gather to learn and get inspired. The coalescing of diverse age and race and gender are a powerfully subversive force. All this in the White Mountains with spectacular scenery and outdoor activities. And great food, too. A week at WFC is both stimulating and relaxing. Susan O
I didn't know the meaning of a haj until I discovered WF in 2005. Having grown up just 25 miles west of Albany (and having had no prior knowledge of it til college), it took me until September (when crowds die down) to appreciate all it has to offer. In years subsequent it I would return, work, and reconnect with various staff and revel in the splendor and majesty of the surrounding White Mountains. So, just what does WF have to offer? In a strictly empirical sense, it is veritable utopia of natural wonders and cultural relics from bygone eras: 19th century houses and cottages; hiking trails and a (motorboat-free) body of water featuring nightly loon serenades. Directly adjacent Mount Chocorua, it offers easy access to some of the most rugged mountains in the northeast as well as the commercial venues of North Conway. In a transcendental sense, it offers genuine community, a sense of historical and cultural continuity, and an paragon of what human ingenuity is fully capable of. To indulge in a little names-dropping, where else, I am tempted to ask, can one meet and mingle with the son of Herbert Marcuse, the son of Major Owens, the daughter of Noam Chomsky, the daughter/niece of the Berrigan brothers, the niece of James Baldwin, Noam Chomsky himself, Lynne Stewart and the families, friends and aliases of so many other pacifistic and idealistic visionaries?!? The history alone, from its founding as a pacifist safehaven amidst WW II to its director being jailed for refusing to surrender a list of names of attendees to the state attorney general during the McCarthy era to its refusal to engage in outside advertising and spread its cause through word-of-mouth should inspire any true believer who seeks genuine community and a sense of purpose.
From 2011 - 2014 I took a temporary (though much needed) hiatus from WF and its (internal) politics. But since returning in 2015, I simply can't imagine my life without making an annual pilgrimage to this very location. Due to COVID, life just doesn't seem the same when I miss the opportunity to ascend Chocorua, canoe on Whitton Pond, perform at Fun Night, and of course, meet and mingle with so many youthful, idealistic and inspirational visionaries. Indeed, to go out on a limb, this is the place that, when I am no longer walking in this world, will be my resting place for eternity.
I will close with a passage from New Testament Psalm 137 - "Oh Jerusalem, if I forget thee, let my right hand whither; may my tongue cling to my palate; if I do not remember you, if I do not consider Jerusalem my highest joy even in my happiest hour..." All this may seem a bit florid, but this place has truly become MY Jerusalem and I know that I am not alone in that sentiment.
Volunteered here a couple years ago and was immediately welcomed in- it felt so loving and safe here!
I grew up going to the World Fellowship Center every summer with my family. This is one of the most special places in the world. I have met some incredible people here and have had some of the best experiences of my life here, whether it be attending workshops and listening to intelligent, inspirational speakers, going for a row boat adventure on the cleanest pond I’ve ever seen, or harvesting food from the farm and then seeing it used that night for dinner. The WFC played an essential role in shaping who I am as an individual and I am forever grateful for the time I was able to spend there.
This was a most welcoming place where you feel like you’ve come home to a family you just met. It’s beautiful and soothes the spirit.
I visited the Center several years ago when my wife, who is a storyteller, did a presentation of Native American stories for the guests. It has the feeling of a rustic summer camp, with tree lined paths to wander, ponds to watch ducks and other waterfowl, and rooms with a variety of books and games for all interests. The homestyle served food was delicious, and the conversations lively, with folks from all around the country and beyond visiting and participating in the many activities planned for the daily schedule. Altogether a warm and delightful experience!
Gorgeous place to relax in a beautiful setting, while participating in programming that is always enlightening and important. The directors are great and make you "feel held" the whole time you are there. The morning announcements are not to be missed! Great as a summer tradition, or a first time visit, WFC works for everyone.
World Fellowship has been part of my life for over 30 years. When I visit it always feels like I’m coming home. The beauty of the White Mtns. & Whitton Pond, breathing in the mountain air are only part of what I love WF. It’s the sense of community, the progressive programming, the fresh organic food. The first thing I love to do is walking on the lawn and looking out at Mt. Chocuroa and then swim in the cool clear waters of Whitton Pond, hoping to get a glimpse of the loons. It’s also the hiking in the White Mts. & the music & the Friday “Fun Nights.” Th excellent workshops about current issues, yoga, arts & crafts. And before I leave, I have to pick some blueberries around the pond.
This is a slice of heaven. Beautiful pond with boats to borrow, hiking, kids activities, lefty political discussions, amazing food, tenting options as well as fully furnished cabins. Don’t miss it! Best vacation ever. They rent for weddings and events too!
World Fellowship Center is one of the most wonderful places on earth, where friendly people of all walks of life come together to meet, and to learn and think about social and environmental issues. It is the place to enjoy delicious meals made with organically grown produce grown right on the premises, and take advantage of abundant opportunities to hike, swim, bike, play, or just rest and relax in the beauty of New Hampshire wilderness. Family friendly programming and lots of kids' activities make it an ideal place to vacation. I have been to World Fellowship for the last 20+ years and it feels like home to me. World Fellowship Center offers an experience of how life on earth could be: peaceful and friendly, healing, accepting of everyone, celebrating diversity, and educating for the good, in a spirit of joy.
World Fellowship is unique:
as a physical setting nestled in the White Mountains with stunning views, a beautiful 15 acre lake, and quiet neighborhood far from tourism and traffic;
as a concept, a very reasonably priced vacation and retreat locale animated by high ideals of brotherhood and justice, providing a supportive environment for discussions, talks, meditation, self-healing and world-healing;
as a place to meet extraordinary people who are invariably welcoming, friendly, open-minded, and interested in every aspect of knowledge, the arts, politics, philosophy--you name it;
as a place that doesn't change with every new fad and technology so that you can return to it year after year and have confidence that its fundamental character will be unaltered.
A wonderful place to spend a few days or a few weeks in community & nature! Spectacular setting with a quiet and beautiful lake, woods and trails. Near the best hiking in the Northeast. WIth great programming with evening lectures and music and art, World Fellowship does the work to bring a diverse and friendly group of people together every summer to take stock, relax, learn & work together.
I have been returning to the World Fellowship Center for decades to recharge my soul, my activism, my friendships and my collective sense of belonging to the greater good of life.
World Fellowship is a place of peace and connection, comfort and growth, activity and quietude. I hope never to miss another summer without at least a few days in this magical place.
A great and truly affordable place for a family to vacation. Take it from a family that has been going to WFC for 40 years.

Our family has been summering at World Fellowship Center every year since 2001. Regardless of what the name may sound like this in not a religious retreat. It is a a lodge. It's; family friendly (our daughter loved it at 2 and continues to return),with wonderful outdoor activities including a most beautiful lake for swimming and boating (no motors allowed), hiking and biking (they have bikes to lend) and well prepared, healthy home cooked food served family style.
There are daily discussions for those who would like to partake, yoga, and organized entertainment on the weekend evenings. This lodge and retreat is no "Club Med." But if you'r looking to vacation with great people who have a progressive outlook on the world, if you're are not interested in spending you days and evenings watching TV but want to exchange ideas and engage with informed presenters, play games indoors and out and experience nature, then the WFC may be right for you.
Most kids seem to love it (there are organized activities for children of all ages). And it is truly affordable.
World Fellowship=summer. Old friends and new friends, hiking and swimming in nature, great food and great people. I can't wait to get back!
World Fellowship is a summer retreat for people who believe in social justice and want to hang out with like-minded people--hiking, swimming, playing games, singing, and just talking. It's so friendly that you can go there not knowing anyone and soon you are part of a group. It's summer camp for grown-ups with children too, and activities organized for them as well. It has a long, long tradition of similar folks coming up with great stories about how people got through tough times....like we are now.
This place is amazing. A great place for people from all walks of life to come together and break bread together, learn about different social justice issues and different strategies for minimizing the impact those issues. Family friendly and great get away from big cities if you like nature and the outdoors.
This organization breathes hope. I am grateful for the persistence and resilience the World Fellowship brings to our world.
World Fellowship Center is the best place to hang with friends and expand your mental and physical horizons and explore nature! If you want elegant, then look elsewhere, but if you want authentic and homey and heartfelt, then look no further. Interesting and thought-provoking things happen all summer long, and you can pick your favorite time to go. We've been attending together for about 20 years, and some good friends and their families have been going for 50+. It is THAT kind of place.
Wonderful place to visit, to meet great people, get inspired, learn new progressive ideas, participate in programs! Placed in the beautiful White Mountains, World Fellowship helps to create a more peaceful world though education and dialog inspired by the gorgeous nature that surrounds it.
Andrea once asked me what I thought of World Fellowship, and my answer was “it’s like paradise.” Why? When I’m at World Fellowship, I feel comfortable and challenged at the same time. From canoeing on Whitton Pond to climbing Mount Chocorua to playing bananagrams in the main lodge after the evening program to doing art on the porch to watching dragonflies congregate at 5pm on the back steps (why 5pm?), World Fellowship is my place to be.
Beautiful place, warm and welcoming people, great food and programs, beautiful lake, boating...(and plenty of shopping nearby too), World Fellowship is always a special visit.
World Fellowship Center (WFC) is a magical place. You can go for a day, a few days, a week, or longer to spend time with others who are committed to social justice and saving the planet. You can go by yourself. You can go with your family. You can go with friends. You can make new friends, and you usually do. The setting is beautiful. Whitton Pond is a hidden treasure--no powerboats, no sound of cars whizzing by. WFC is a great place to rest your body and mind--or, if you prefer, to enrich your life through educational and recreational programs and stimulating conversation. I've been going to WFC every summer since 1978 with only two exceptions. For me, as for many others, WFC is a home away from home.
While raising my daughter the WFC was my home during the summer. I recharged intellectually, physically and emotionally thanks to the lovely community of regulars at WFC, I highly recommend this hidden authentic paradise for adults and children.
World fellowship center is one of the prettiest places on earth. Now you take that beauty and add magnificent workshops from memorial day until Labor Day and you’ve got beauty, education, passion, great friends, caring people, great food, laughter with trace amounts of love.
World Fellowship is a great combination of nature, community, and education. My stays at World Fellowship have always been enjoyable and leave me with a renewed sense of hope. The setting could not be more beautiful. The staff, as well as fellow guests, are all warm and welcoming. Looking forward to returning in 2021.
I've stayed at WFC every year for the past five before the pandemic to participate in Early Music Week, a great program that brings together amateur and professional musicians to play music from the Renaissance through the early Baroque. The program itself is terrific, the accommodations are fine, the food is excellent, the setting is beautiful, and the progressive atmosphere is a balm.
They have the most beautiful lake in the world (and people). And meals are something to really look forward to. And the speakers and activities. Highly recommend.
Compelling mission to affect positive change and generations of dedicated supporters make World Fellowship a very special place. As for the people, WFC is a family that learns, celebrates and works together for the benefit of all.
Summer camp for adults and families. Not religious, in spite of its perhaps misleading name. Variety of activities available daily (yoga, bike rides, hikes, nature and art programs, many social justice programs). Walk to isolated lake to swim, canoe, pick blueberries. Rustic cabins, lodge, camping. Stay Friday night for open mike Fun Night talent show!
This space has been such a gift, and has a long-standing role in the community as a haven for those who want to see the world be liberated and full of peace. As a trans person of color I've appreciated how the staff have been very kind and collaborative, welcoming me and my family + colleagues into the space with open arms, ready to learn how to grow and improve and change in order to continue fulfilling their mission of promoting "peace and social justice through education and dialogue inspired by nature." I've been going annually and it's been a wonderful space for retreat and restoration, with a lot of beautiful nature on-site and nearby.
World Fellowship Center is my favorite place in the world! I have been going there every summer (for at least one week) for the past 27 years! It is a major source of renewal for me for doing the social justice work I am committed to throughout the year.
I have met wonderful people there and gone to incredible programs. The World Fellowship site is located with a gorgeous view of Mt. Chocorua and with the most beautiful lake to swim in that I have ever found--no motor boats, but definitely loons! My partner and I got married there in 2007 because I couldn't think of a better place to bring friends and family and to celebrate. The directors and board work all year long to bring a diverse group of social justice presenters to broaden and deepen our perspectives. My son grew up going there. It is a great place for families with young children or teens, for older people, for couples, for single people, etc. Please join us!
Every year, we drive seventeen hours from southern Ohio to spend two weeks at the World Fellowship Center. Our children and friends meet us there, when possible. We go no matter what: for the people, the fellowship, the natural beauty and the overarching commitment to helping people grow, intellectually, physically and socially.
I have been coming here since I was a kid, and it's one of my favorite places in the world. It's a place that has touched countless lives and brought so many people into a community that has lasted for generations now. It's so unique that it's almost impossible to describe.
World Fellowship has been an essential part of most of my life, nurturing, challenging and inspiring me as a member of it's community and how I respond to and act in the wider world.
One of many unforgettable summer days some years ago: waking up and watching the sun changing the colors of Mt. Chocorua, eating the day's meals with my World Fellowship extended family, talking with the guests taking the daytime photography workshop I teach about whether, in this age of 24 hours images, photographs can still have meaning and bear witness, taking part in the evening program's lively discussion. Then, at 10 at night, walking the path through the woods to Whitton Pond with friends, we lay on the dock and watched a lunar eclipse and shooting stars. A magical end to a day at magical World Fellowship.
Incredibly kind, generous, and welcoming community. They have provided a safe space for our group to recharge for the past three years.
This place is great! Feels like coming *home* every time I go. Warm, caring, super-interesting, engaged and fun people of all ages -- my kinda folks! Every time I go, I make a number of really nice, deep, soul-nourishing and intellectually exciting connections with a bunch of people, plus I get to reconnect with the many friends I've made during past stays there... Food's great, nature is *gorgeous* and inviting, so many opportunities to learn new things/activities with all the great programs offered throughout the summer (Just look at their summer calendar -- it's like being a kid in a candy store!), so many opportunities for meaningful work volunteering and supporting the important mission of this very special camp. Great program for kids -- they actually *run around* and *play* together! And ...drumroll... the pièce de résistance for me, the cherry on the tippy top of this wonderful combo of the many different things I want in my life -- and something I'd never expected to find at a "summer camp" -- there's an optional talk every night where authors, musicians, historians, political activists... give interesting glimpses of the projects and issues they're currently working on!?! This *is* a real home for me.
Thanks to Andy and Andrea -- and to the whole staff and team of volunteers (Howie! Fiona! the new chef!! and so many more) -- for making this the warm and wonderful place that it is!
The people at World Fellowship Center are incredible humans who work hard to create a space that I felt so welcomed to and included in. World Fellowship Center was an reinvigorating space to be in this summer and continues to inspire me from afar just knowing that a place like that exists amidst the beautiful mountains. I am grateful to have been invited as part of the University of Orange team representing Design Studio for Social Intervention to volunteer and teach some Art on the Porch sessions as well as an evening workshop with UofO on Place-based Organizing. The discussions withe people in these structured settings along with lakeside chats, late night kitchen whispering debates, or while hula hooping or folding napkins fresh from the dryer all made such an impression on me. The company I was able to share delicious collectively cooked meals with were nourishing and sustaining. I was inspired by the many generations of people who were there from toddlers to elders and those who've been going there for generations with their parents as adults. What an important place that was (and is) for recharging the mind, soul and body to continue the work we do in the world. I am grateful.
My husband and I first visited World Fellowship Center 27 years ago, with our soon-to-be-adopted 8 year-old daughter in tow. The welcoming atmosphere, the wonderful home-grown food, excellent presentations on topics of the day, and child care, arts activities, hiking, swimming, biking....it all made for a terrific experience that has brought us back as a growing family every year since. This is a wonderful place to relax, socialize and spend time in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
WFC is where I go to replenish my heart and soul in the midst of the madness that surrounds us everyday. I have gone for at least two weeks every summer for many years. Don't go there for luxury or high-tech. Go for the beauty of the surroundings, the amazing undeveloped lake (no motors allowed!), the choice to go to stimulating workshops and events, to go hiking or biking, or to be by yourself with a good book. Most important to me, though, is the wonderfully inclusive community--the opportunity to see loving "camp friends" each year, and always the opportunity to make new ones. Can't wait to be back.
The first time I went to World Fellowship, for several days of a Latin America program, in 1981, I met my husband. Two of my children have gotten married there. In addition to the natural physical beauty, the green, the mountains, the stars, the water, are the people. The current directors make it warmer and more welcoming than it was when I first started coming. It is both a place to renew one's efforts to make the world better for all, and a refuge.
My family ended up at World Fellowship a few summers ago, almost by mistake. The land is beyond beautiful and peaceful, and the lake is glorious. It was the most inclusive place I've ever been - a unique combination of a tight-knit community of people that completely welcomed newcomers into the fold. Children bonded with each other and were accepted by the staff and guests with joy and openness. Guest speakers reflected the center's commitment to social justice and equity. We plan to go back and highly recommend this palce.
We attended a Musical performance with Israeli and Palestinian children. It was deeply moving and inspiring. The staff and facilitator were engaging, present & accomidating. The world fellowship center is a jewel in our community.
My first experience with WFC resulted from a training that "just happened" to be scheduled on site. In retrospect, I understand how perfectly suited a place it was for a conference on co-housing and non-violent communication. Over the years of my visits there, I've found it to be a place where everyone's children are treated with respect and kindness by all. Thus, the children who come there are fascinating to converse with, joyful, and respectful of others. Beyond the amazing vibe of the place (people here live their values!) it's an incredible deal as a vacation retreat. Shared meals means you are part of a community that is generous without being intrusive. The classes and conversations there broaden my understanding of experiences other than my own. It's like visiting beloved family that welcomes you every time -- and doesn't bug you about how you "should" live, just shows you how it's done. My life is immensely enriched for visiting WFC and being allowed, in my small way, into the family.
I grew up on the lawn of World Fellowship, hiking its trails, swimming in its water, running around with other little kids. It helped shape the person I am today and it's a national treasure. I've been going my whole life, and now I take my kids there so they too can experience the wonder of World Fellowship.
I have been going to world fellowship for over 15 years. It is one my favorite places to visit. I started there as a presenter and have returned many times as a guest. I love the gorgeous surroundings, the singing wood on the walk to the clear ice blue lake, the lovely intellectual, creative and thoughtful people that gather there. It is a place to be inspired by conversation and by scenery, to rest, to think, to plan. The garden fresh food is also delicious. A great place for families. I wouldn't see my son from one end to the day to the next, he was enjoying children's fellowship and playing in the woods and feeding chickens and goats with his new pals.
So much to learn from the great speakers! It helps that it is in a beautiful environment with delicious, healthy foods.
World Fellowship is an extraordinary place where for over 75 years individuals, families and groups have come to play and learn and teach. The focus is on peace and social justice, with art, music, body movement and outdoor sports always available. Welcoming and open to all, guests, volunteers and staff come from all over the world. It's like summer camp with soul, organic gardens, great food, all in a gorgeous setting in the White Mountains of NH.

For over 74 years in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire this family educational and recreational camp has provided programs dedicated to peace and social justice along with arts and body movement, hiking and biking and swimming and singing. Most offerings are free to the public and inexpensive for guests to stay with all inclusive room and meals. I discovered WFC just 2 years ago and am hooked on their positivity and fun.
One of my favorite places in the world. Peaceful, beautiful, inspiring and energizing. Social justice programming of all kinds, hiking and biking, a safe and comfortable place to vacation on your own.
If you want a place that shares peace and truth, this is where to go. Not only is the place beautiful and peaceful, but so are all the people there. I can trust that everyone is educated and informed on what's going on in the world. I can also trust that they help to do something about the issues we face. The beautiful people you meet at World fellowship make this world a little easier to deal with.
This is where I go to energize and refill my activist batteries while enjoying a wonderful nature vacation surrounded by people from all walks of life.
We love the World Fellowship Center! The people and the food are great. You can pitch a tent or select from a variety of rooms. There are always interesting events and usually twice-daily topical offerings, often around a weeklong or weekend-long theme, but it's also totally OK just to read, sit, nap, walk, swim, chat, enjoy the silence, etc. Mealtimes guarantee fascinating conversations, if you're up for it. Early Music Week is very fun to participate in or just to listen. Wonderful history and heritage, and serious stewardship of the land. Coming up the driveway towards Lloyd Lodge always feels like a homecoming. Love this place and the people who run it and visit it.
I came to World Fellowship for the first time this summer, to attend a week-long choral workshop with the wonderful folk-singer, feminist and justice advocate Bev Grant. i not only loved singing with a dozen spirited women every day but encountered so many other touching people and experiences. Each evening featured an informative and inspiring report from the field--Greek refugee settlements, the Puerto Rican countryside, the US university system--where brave and caring people are coming together to alleviate suffering and honor our shared humanity. Each day was spent exploring the pristine lake and woods, enjoying fresh, lovingly prepared meals, and participating in a range of activities. I especially loved the joyful. restorative yoga taught by the incomparable artist, teacher and healer Becky Thomson. WFC caretakers Andrea and Andy. and the staff and volunteers, welcome visitors with kindness. humor and a commitment to education and equity. I can understand why some have been coming back for decades to connect, relax and revitalize--and will hopefully be able to return to this place for many decades more.
My family and I love World Fellowship so much we haven't missed a summer in over 35+ years!! Warm, friendly, welcoming staff and guests. Breathtaking location and views. Hiking, boating, swimming and biking are just a few fun outdoor things one can indulge in or just sitting out on the lawn or one of the many porches of the grand old lodge talking with new and old friends about political social justice matters in empathetic non judgmental ways! I Can't say enough great things about World Fellowship!
We had been wanting to go to World Fellowship for a long time. Always something interfered. Sometimes the programs that were being offered on our available weekends didn't seem interesting and sometimes we figured our kids wouldn't like it. We finally were able to go for four days last July. We had a great great time and regret that we hadn't gone all these years. We went to programs that didn't actually look great on paper that turned out to be both interesting and fun. (And the kids seemed to be having a ball...) What's best is the welcoming atmosphere--a great community of friendly and intelligent people. So in addition to the natural beauty and physical activities, we really enjoyed the great, lively conversations with interesting people.
World fellowship offers everything. A beautiful place where you can learn about the world and the arts along with others who work with you to make the world a better place for everyone, I go there whenever I have a chance.
My family has gone to World Fellowship yearly since 1986. It's an amazing and magical place in a remarkably beautiful nature sanctuary. In this beautiful venue are a number of buildings that are lovingly cared for by directors Andy Davis and Andrea Walsh and their engaged staff. Rustic, simple rooms are economical, clean and conveniently located near one of the most beautiful ponds that our family has ever had the pleasure of enjoying whether it's for a swim, a row boat or a canoe ride. The organic food that is mostly grown on the property is served family style, so that folks who join, whether they're first-timers or veterans, like our family, can always count on a mostly vegetarian deliciously flavored menu with occasional fish or the traditional turkey supper on Sundays. The speakers and special guests that the Davis/Walshes bring to WF are always fabulous, and all of them are committed to leaving the world a better place than they found it. My husband and I are the founders of a Latin music ensemble that performs there yearly and has stayed there even when we're not performing. Another thing we treasure about WF is that the attendees are truly multicultural, multiethnic and multigenerational. It is the very definition of the word "inclusive". That is exceptional in rural New Hampshire and is the result of a commitment to make this so. Our now 18 year old twins have gone to WF with us since before they were born and never want to miss our World Fellowship weekend! WF is one of the most special places in the U.S. for our family and we are always grateful that it exists. The people we meet there inspire us to be change makers in the world. There is no place like World Fellowship!
Being a single mother during the hot summer months with my 8 year old son was not easy for me in Boston in 1982,.
Friends brought me to World Fellowship and I have been returning for the last 32 years. Now my grown son is married and with a young daughter. He flies in every summer, and my daughter, her husband, and soon new grandson, as well as My husband Ed and I will head up to WF. It is a family ritual….It has become our second home for family time where we are fed, rested, and at ease.
Lots has changed. Wonderful people have passed away, and so many have moved to other parts of the world, but what remains consistent is the exquisite "Whitton Pond", where Loons tend to watch over us each summer as we canoe, swim, and spread ourselves like beached whales on the furthest dock for sun, and great conversations with whomever happens to float by…
Catching up on what we did all year, politics, world news, or what's for dinner in the community dining room that night.
People come for all sorts of reasons, bringing their interests, and passions for life to share, or just to be still. It's not luxurious in the aesthetic sense, yet the luxury we feel is in its simple, yet hardy way of placing itself amongst those who are searching for a simple format to land for a weekend, or a week, or camping for the summer. To Bike or take a hike, or drive into North Conway which becomes a 12 mile adventure to pick up candy at the Old Five and Dime store. There is something for everyone if you are looking to have a really interesting, and relaxing time. I support it, love it, and will always hang in to help it grow….I can't imagine a summer without World Fellowship.
If you come up July 4th weekend or the first week in August, look for me. I am one of the beached whales on the big dock on Whitton Pond with a smile on my face:):

World Fellowship offers great progressive programs in a gorgeous natural environmental
great food shared in a communal family environments-good for young people & adults
I absolutely love the World Fellowship Center for short vacations. It's like a camp for adults, who can also bring their children. Everyone eats together the same food in the dining hall. There are many stimulating programs to attend if you want to--from lectures to music to writing workshops to exercise. A walk down the trail takes you to what I consider the best swimming lake in New England. And such interesting people who attend! All this for a very reasonable price.
I love this place and spent many happy times here with my daughter as she was growing up. I have rarely visited since, partly because it has become more and more expensive and partly because the programs have gotten somewhat repetitive. Having said this, it i still undoubtedly a great place to come with family.
World Fellowship offers a unique and affordable vacation resort experience amidst the natural beauty of New Hampshire. Accommodations are modest, but comfortable and clean. The directors and staff are great and the food wonderful! One eats at long tables with 9 other guests giving one the opportunity to interact. If you like to swim, row and canoe, Whitton Pond is on site and Lake Chochurua is a short drive down Route 16. There are many interesting programs during the season. I have learned so much during the 34 years I have been attending WF. If you love liberal, progressive politics, this is the place to vacation! And the diverse community is composed of warm, intelligent and interesting folk doing interesting work to improve the world. I love World Fellowship!
World Fellowship is a wonderful place where socially and politically conscious people and families can connect in a relaxing vacation venue to have fun, socialize, and breathe the fresh mountain air. My husband and I have been going year after year and keep coming back. The delicious healthy meals, bike riding, and pristine pond are our favorite parts. We also like the fact that folks of all ages and from all over the country come there. We love it.
If you want to spend a weekend or a week in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire. surrounded by a warm, welcoming community of progressive liberals, this is the place for you! The buildings are old and rustic but the community is what makes World Fellowship a special place to spend some time. If you never got to go to camp as a kid or didn't appreciate camp in your younger years you are in for a treat.! All three, wonderful, healthy meals are eaten together with your new friends. Every night there is some kind of interesting lecture, art or musical event. There are post breakfast and post lunch hikes guided by Howie who knows many trails in the White Mountains and the geological science of the area so you always come back with some new and interesting information as well. If you want to take things at your own pace and just relax and read there are plenty of spaces on the large, screened in wrap around porch at Lloyd Lodge and if you need to cool off, you can take a dip in the serene waters of Whitten Pond. Once you have experienced some time in World Fellowship, you will come back at least once every summer!
This is a special place to relax and to positively enrich your life. It's abundant in community, nature, and wonder.
If you could imagine an affordable, gorgeous mountain/lake get-away that also happens to offer daily workshops on topics ranging from social justice to music performance, storytelling, arts & crafts, dance and movement, not to mention healthy daily meals included in a family-style dining hall where you meet such intelligent, politically active, creative, and sometimes hilarious souls of all ages -- look no further. World Fellowship is a find. If you can envision one destination with swimming, rowing, mountain hiking, biking, basketball, ping pong, timely, interesting workshops, evening entertainment and tons of socializing, exhilarating mountain air, loons and other wild life, flowers, and meeting delightful people of all ages and backgrounds you'd like to know for many years to come, this is the place. World Fellowship is not to be missed.
I started going to World Fellowship with my future wife more than 30 years ago. We return every year to our second family in the most beautiful place imaginable. Our kids grew up there and I expect they will return with their own some day. There is nothing like it anywhere.
My family has been going to World Fellowship for almost 20 years. I have enjoyed returning to this incredibly inclusive and connected community as a young child, teenager, and now young adult. It is a great place to be active in the outdoors, learn about social responsibility by engaging with a diverse group of people, and develop life long friendships.
There are multiple types of lodging (e.g. a room in a house, the main lodge, or camping) and 3 meals are included in the price. Meals are buffet style and dietary restrictions are accommodated.
There is optional programming for kids and adults (e.g. child care and guided bike rides--with no extra charge). If you are not interested in the programming, you can take advantage of having easy access to a beautiful pond. World Fellowship provides row boats, canoes, and kayaks (again, no extra charge!). You could also go hiking, bike riding, or take in the gorgeous mountain view from the outside sitting area and dig into a good book (there is a library, if you forgot to pack one). If you will be out for the day, you can get a bagged lunch.
If there is anything you are interested in doing (at or around World Fellowship), but not exactly sure how to do it, the staff and even other guests are always happy to help!
I have been going to World Fellowship Center for 25 summers (not every summer, but many of them, and the last eight consecutively). WFC is a beautiful community, situated in a spectacularly beautiful place. The combination of delicious wholesome food, swimming, canoeing, cycling, hiking, music of all kinds, art classes, inspired talks on world issues, and serious and funny conversations can't be beat. It's a great place to go with kids of all ages (or without kids too).
Hi All,
My family and I have been coming to World Fellowship for 2 weeks each year for the past 25 years. Each year it gets better.
Don't get put off by the Fellowship in the name. It is a non religious progressive center with interesting presentations as well as wonderful recreational activities.
Love it.
A beautiful setting that reminds us what nature has to offer. We always meet the most interesting people there and have the most interesting conversations, along with the more formal panels and concerts. And the food - delicious, well if I ate like that all year 'round I'd probably live ten years longer.
Where else can you relax, have a nice vacation and feel good about humanity at the same time?
World Fellowship, despite the corny name, is a great place for a vacation. It's got a progressive vibe, and lots of interesting people, but the best part is that you don't have to participate in all that, if you don't want to. You can go off by yourself and swim, hike or bikeride. It's your call if you want to get involved with the discussion or not.
You don't have to spend your time finding things for your kids to do. They can run around, make friends and you can relax all in the same area. My daughter has been going there since she was 5 and at 24 comes back voluntarily with her son.
There are a lot of families that come and bring multiple generations. I started going there in my 20's and it was the first place I ever met an older person who was a movement activist. In those days, the only ones I knew were my generation. You learn something from just being around people who have spent their lives doing things that you want to do.
Now I'm the old timer. And I still come back.
This summer was my third at World Fellowship. Friends of mine who have been coming for over 20 years introduced me to it and it has been my go to summer vacation ever since. World Fellowship is located in one of the most beautiful spots on the planet. Every morning I would get up and meet friends for a swim in the pond before breakfast. My days were spent hiking, biking, reading on the porch, listening to the live music or attending one of the very interesting educational seminars provided. The staff are fabulous and friendly as are the other guests who I have come to know well over the years. There is something for everyone, families with kids, adults with no kids, and grandparents. A must go to destination.
World Fellowship is a special place .Established in 1941, it's well known among progressives for its history and its welcoming community. It's located in the White Mountains with access to a pristine pond.
Guests of all ages come here, from multi-generational families to those who come alone, for a few weeks or just a few days.
There is something for everyone - music, discussions on many different topics, swimming, hiking, biking, yoga, boating, art offerings, meeting interesting new people, gardening, and more - you never know who you might meet. The prices for both camping and lodging, with meals, are very reasonable. You can relax and recharge in a progressive atmosphere with nature all around you. I can highly recommend it!
In 1989 we went there for the first time to try it out. We were in our mid-30's, our son was 6, our daughter 4. We all had a great vacation - together as a family, and as much as we all wanted, going our separate ways (there's free childcare mornings and evenings, included in the price, which also includes 3 meals all you can eat of delicious healthy food, much of it from their organic gardens!)
We returned the following year - this time for 2 weeks - and every single summer since! Our children, now 30 and 28 respectively, make sure they get there each summer, even if only for a few days.
In addition to outdoors' stuff like hiking, biking, and pristine gorgeous swimming, there's art sessions and yoga classes. There's always things to do if you want, or not. Lots of people sit and read and get to know each other on the back lawn overlooking the mountains. And in the evenings there's always either a lecture, a movie, music - something interesting and entertaining.
And then you meet all these great people who also vacation there and you make new friends and it's really nice. Fun, relaxing and replenishing. And all of it is included in the very reasonable per person price.
My family and I first went to World Fellowship on the recommendation of friends. We found it to be a welcoming place in a setting of great natural beauty (White Mountains of New Hampshire). We have returned every year since then. The guests come from all walks of life, different generations and many cultural backgrounds. No matter who you are, you will quickly find a home in this wonderfully diverse community.
This is an amazing organization. They run a lodge in the White Mountains where you can go to relax but also find community with people committed to social change. My partner and I have been going there for years with friends, because it is a great place to organize a group to get together and all rent your own rooms. When we decided to get married, it was only natural that we chose to get married at World Fellowship. This June, we had a wonderful, memorable wedding that was supported by the whole community of staff at World Fellowship. We are looking forward to returning again and again with our family.
