The people at World Fellowship Center are incredible humans who work hard to create a space that I felt so welcomed to and included in. World Fellowship Center was an reinvigorating space to be in this summer and continues to inspire me from afar just knowing that a place like that exists amidst the beautiful mountains. I am grateful to have been invited as part of the University of Orange team representing Design Studio for Social Intervention to volunteer and teach some Art on the Porch sessions as well as an evening workshop with UofO on Place-based Organizing. The discussions withe people in these structured settings along with lakeside chats, late night kitchen whispering debates, or while hula hooping or folding napkins fresh from the dryer all made such an impression on me. The company I was able to share delicious collectively cooked meals with were nourishing and sustaining. I was inspired by the many generations of people who were there from toddlers to elders and those who've been going there for generations with their parents as adults. What an important place that was (and is) for recharging the mind, soul and body to continue the work we do in the world. I am grateful.
