We welcomed Ozzy into our home believing raising a future service dog would be a partnership with NEADS. We gave him everything we had and expected open communication in return. Instead, after months of raising him as part of our family, we were given only two hours to say goodbye before he was removed with virtually no notice. Communication throughout the program was poor. Emails went unanswered, training sessions were cancelled at the last minute, and when concerns arose about a joking social media comment, no one contacted us to discuss it or gave us a chance to respond. We invested countless hours, paid for additional training and supplies, and helped Ozzy become a confident, well-socialized puppy. Our disappointment isn’t that he was removed—it’s that we were never treated with the transparency, communication, and respect volunteers deserve. We hope Ozzy succeeds, but because of this experience, we would not raise another puppy for NEADS or recommend the program to others.

I would not recommend working at Camp Starfish. The camp promotes itself as a supportive environment for both children/staff, but my experience was the opposite. Working 12-hour shifts with children who require constant one-on-one care is incredibly demanding, yet staff receive very little time to rest often only about a 30-min break. The camp is extremely understaffed, leaving counselors overwhelmed with little support. There was also little to no concern for employees' mental health, and no meaningful support was provided despite the emotional demands of the job. The pay is extremely low considering the level of responsibility, and it often felt impossible to advocate for better working conditions. The position I accepted also did not match what was described during the hiring process. I truly care about the children, but the lack of staffing, support, and concern for employees made this one of the worst work experiences I've had. The children deserve better, and so do the employees.

I have had dogs my entire life. My last dog was through a breeder and we absolutely loved him. When he passed away we decided to get a rescue dog and we applied to Sandy Paws. I have never met a more rude and disrespectful organization. Their decision making is abrupt and unprofessional. When I asked questions I was bombarded with emails harassing me for my feedback. I finally had to block them. If you’re looking for a pet, be wary of this organization.

I am in contact with IDRF for over 2-3 years. It has been a great pleasure to work with IDRF and Vandana particularly. We have worked with them to route our major donations to different projects in India. We were highly satisfied with their process and appreciated their cooperation to route our donations smoothly to fund the projects in India. We were victims of California wildfires and All Hands All Hearts came to home to test if we had asbestos before they could begin the work. They emailed the report stating that no asbestos was found and they would begin cleaning up our home from fire damages. Time passed and we did not hear from AHAH when I contacted them. I was a resident at Deaconess Home in Fall River as a teenager. While the education was decent daily life in the residential program was extremely restrictive. My internship with United Planet was an amazing experience that taught me a lot about teamwork, communication, and leadership. I got hands-on experience using tools like Canva for designing projects and organizing ideas, which really helped me improve my creativity and digital skills. Together you taught approximately five hundred and fifty students about their personal risk of skin cancer and sun protection. One of the teachers, that you had advised to see a dermatologist because of atypical moles, was diagnosed with melanoma. You may remember that the teacher came to the health class to have her UV photograph taken to evaluate her sun damage. You had recognized that she had atypical moles and advised her to see a dermatologist. She followed your direction and was found to have a melanoma and she had surgery last week. <br> <br>I wanted to provide you with follow up on the student that you had recommended that the school nurses contact his parents. The school nurse called his Mother to share with her your recommendations that he see a dermatologist because of the UV photograph. She told us that his Father had died of melanoma when he was a little boy. She has promised to confer with her pediatrician regarding this matter. <br> <br>Your program has touched each of us in a different way but these two individuals will never forget your lessons because they may have changed their lives. I would give them a zero star if I could. I am a veteran and I contacted leadership directly to ask for help for my community and myself. At first they seemed willing to work with me but then stopped responding to my emails. Pretty sad that I can’t even count on an organization like this to help me. There’s a veterans group at risk and needs support, yet my concerns falls on deaf ears. Until that changes, there will always be veteran suicide. You should be hearing our stories and helping us.

Being diagnosed with a rare disease can be really scary and isolating, but finding NORD gave me a completely different experience. It brought me a community of friends who have supported me through the ups and downs of life with a rare disease, and this past year is a great example. Even when I wasn’t doing my best, I was still able to participate in the NORD Running for Rare program at the Denver Colfax Marathon. I did what I could, while my friends walked with me and cheered me on. And last month, when I was doing better, my friends Eric and Amanda took me on my first trail run for the NORD Virtual Turkey Trot! Both have become some of my favorite memories of 2025, and I can’t wait to make more in 2026!

The Berkshire Environmental Action Team is clearly committed to advancing the health and safety of our community members and protecting our environment. Its members work tirelessly and collaboratively to engage meaningfully with the public, provide outreach and educational opportunities, and advocate for a better, cleaner city here in Pittsfield. Recently, the Pittsfield City Council approved an initiative that resulted in sending correspondence to the Office of Energy Transformation in support of decarbonization of an aging peaker plant at the heart of the City. This initiative would not have passed without the involvement of BEAT. The City of Pittsfield is lucky to have this organization fighting for its residents and our environment.

I am a veteran, a volunteer, and an employee of Veterans Inc and I have been assisting with Veterans Inc events for the past 4 years now. Due to the unwavering commitment and the hard-working employees and volunteers, each year the events become bigger and better. Veterans Inc is able to offer more services to veterans and their families due to the growing contributions from individuals and organizations. It's an honor to work with the Veterans Inc staff and to see first-hand the differences that this organization makes in the lives of veterans. I would encourage anyone who wishes to volunteer their time to help veterans, to reach out and assist with the annual 5K fundraiser, Standdown event, Veterans Day breakfast, Holiday Harvest food give-away, or the toy and coat giveaway. I had the pleasure of working with EcoLogic Development Fund when they were awarded a grant from Global Forest Watch's Small Grants Fund, via the World Resources Institute. For their project, they worked with local communities and ejidos in Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras to strengthen their forest monitoring capabilities through the use of geospatial forest monitoring technology, like Global Forest Watch and the Forest Watcher mobile application. The team at EcoLogic Development Fund were extremely communicative and did an impressive job executing the project through this grant. At the end of the project, they provided us with comprehensive videos from each community where we heard directly from community members and ejidos about the issues they are tackling on their lands and how GFW helped support and improve their strategies. We have continued to grow our partnership with EcoLogic outside of this grant and look forward to continuing to do so.

ALSTDI has profoundly impacted my life and the lives of several friends who are also patients. I first visited ALSTDI on the one-year anniversary of my dad's passing from ALS. Until then, I thought supporting ALS meant participating in the annual ALS walk and hoping for the best. However, meeting their team changed everything for me.<br><br>Carol, who has become a lifelong friend and mentor, spoke passionately about the patients she loves and the donors she helps. The research team was incredibly kind, patiently answering my questions despite my limited biology background, and sharing their optimism about their research.<br><br>ALSTDI's commitment to cutting-edge technology is best demonstrated through their ARC program. They have compiled more data than any other ALS organization, creating a large database that is searchable thanks to partnerships with various companies. This essential, yet often overlooked, work accelerates research and highlights why I admire ALSTDI so much. They are not driven by headlines but by a singular mission: to cure ALS and make it a treatable, if not curable, disease.<br><br>I have countless stories of how ALSTDI has helped people I care about, but one recent example stands out. A few months ago, a friend's grandmother was diagnosed with ALS at an excruciatingly late stage, having been misdiagnosed for years. The family didn't have time to arrange for a text-to-speech device or other aids to make her last days more comfortable. In a panic, I called Glynis, an amazing team member, who connected me with Michele. Michele helped the family set up a communication device so the grandmother could say her goodbyes.<br><br>ALSTDI excels not only in ALS research but also in passion and compassion. I can think of no finer nonprofit with which I've had the pleasure of supporting.

I have been volunteering at Second Chance Animal Services Adoption Center in East Brookfield, MA for five months and they are absolutely the best. Even though it takes me about an hour to get there, it is often one of the highlights of my week when I get to spend time there. After cleaning their kennels, changing their bedding, giving them food and water, I get to walk and play with them. My camera roll is especially filled with the most adorable dogs. The staff is dedicated and care about all the pets that come in. I am always happy when the pets that have been there the longest finally go to home. This is a great place to volunteer and adopt a family pet.
