Mission:
EcoLogic''s mission is to advance the conservation of threatened ecosystems in rural areas, where poverty is extreme, by promoting sustainable livelihoods that affirm local cultures and by strengthening community participation in natural resource management. Since our inception in 1993, a central tenet of our work has been local participation in resource management decisions. EcoLogic draws on local knowledge and understanding of the environment, resources, and culture to effect sustainable solutions to natural resource management, biodiversity protection, and development. We strive not to impose our vision on others, but seek to support rural communities in the development and implementation of their visions of preserving their resources and cultures for themselves and future generations.
EcoLogic’s unique approach has helped over 700 communities in Latin America to improve their well-being and become stewards of their land. We have established sustainable livelihoods and strengthened community participation in natural resource management, providing support for the conservation of over 6 million acres of critical habitat and the protection of over 1,200 water sources.
