We adopted a kitty named dusty. He's doing great as an indoor only kitty now. He's getting along with our 2 dogs guy and mocha.

United Midcoast Charities has been an invaluable resource for our community and continues to be an integral part of mission success for a multitude of non-profit organizations. In addition to providing grant support, they engender connections between other non-profits, and they promote ongoing learning for professionals seeking additional resources for their respective agencies. They recently held a well-organized and executed learning session for local grantees that greatly enhanced understanding related to accessing additional funding resources. UMC also provides hands on support by offering staff assistance as well as their organizational access to funding resource platforms. They are a joy to work with.

We found out about Camp Sunshine while our four year old daughter was just beginning treatment at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. After several months of intensive in patient treatment for our daughter, as well as a newborn baby, our family really needed a break. Camp Sunshine offered a very safe place to take a short vacation for us all by providing the very much needed support (medical, physical and mental) to allow us to relax and have some fun. We returned several times and have fond memories of all of the great times and wonderful connections that we made while there. The volunteer staff were so helpful. The medical staff provided needed assistance and guidance around the clock. There are always fun themed events and programs. We took part in many different fun, educational and therapeutic activities all of which really helped get thru a few very difficult years. Thank god for the good folks at Camp Sunshine, it really has meant so much to our family!

Chewonki is an exemplar in my experience of non-profits. Mission-driven, thoughtfully guided, and ethically minded, at turns I've been a staff member, trustee, and advisor over 30+ years. Even though my first Chewonki experience was decades ago, I still hold Chewonki up as the place that does community best, that builds connections, and that challenges me to do my best work, whether as a volunteer or supporter.<br><br>From the programs it runs for young children to its flagship Maine Coast Semester, which continues to break ground as the premier place-based semester program among a crowded field, Chewonki changes lives. It certainly changed mine!

No one who is seeking ACTUAL health care should go to this facility. Firstly, going to this place for an acute ear infection or any non-life-threatening acute condition is a waste of one's time and resources. That trip would cost you approximately 200 dollars and a referral to a specialist 12 to 16 weeks away. Of course, you will need that specialist because of the chronic damage caused by not getting rapid intervention when the symptoms first appeared even though one tried to get it addressed prior. That leads to the most important take of this review. Lovejoy Health Center promises a service they WILL NOT and CANNOT deliver. Pushing people through their appointment schedule is their goal. Health care is simply a ruse for them to create a money flow. This facility is not a health care facility and doesn't want to be one. It wants to be a "quarterback" in your health care, get you out the door as fast as possible so you can wait for a real healthcare facility to deal with it. Your health is irrelevant, their policy for excessive and invasive paperwork is their "mission statement." Remember this, at Lovejoy Health Center you are an ignoramus and an abuser UNTIL the Nurse Practitioner looks it up on Google and find a "match." Even that is hit or miss as they may be behind on pushing people through their appointments. So, you will arrive ill or in pain looking for caring help. You will leave feeling stupid and still feeling ill or in pain.

Waldo CAP has been a great partner to the Waldo County YMCA. They have helped us provide lunches for senior through our AOA luncheon program. They actively look for ways to combine our strengths so that 2+2=5 (or 6!). <br> <br>Waldo County is fortunate to have the team at Waldo CAP and we are grateful to work with them to strengthen our community. <br> <br>

re the earlier comment: there are a lot of things in this world that are "perfectly legal" and ethically crappy, and what the Daponte board just did in firing its musicians is in the latter category. The musicians could and should have been a part of a transparent, public, meaningful strategic planning process -- along with donors, constituents, etc. -- at which all of this was discussed and agreed to. The fact they were not makes this just one more hostile corporate takeover. I rate the musicians and their work as the Daponte String Quartet highly -- the organization as it now exists under its new colors I rate "far below expectations."

if you have dreamt of what it would be like to step back in time, a visit to the Corinth Historical Society is in order! Thoughtfully acquired antiques arranged beautifully and timely can whisk you away to bygone days. Older folks can reminisce, while younger folks can be educated on how it used to be. Pure delight to meander through our beautiful historical society wonder.

This organization is shady. The little good they do is offset by the cuts they make to their consumers' services, while an elite few line their pockets. It is shameful and exemplifies how the term "non-profit" can be a misnomer.

Thanks to Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust and the Tom Settlemire Community Garden, our family was granted a plot to grow organic fruits and vegetables. This is not something we could have accomplished on our own. <br><br>We are grateful for our 10' x 16' plot and for all that they do to ensure a successful crop. Not to mention, all the other land preservation efforts of BTLT that our family and community benefit from!

I have had the pleasure of supporting the Friends of Feral Felines recently and let me tell you! It was great. Such a great turn out for the benefit night we hosted for them at the South Portland Five Guys. I cant wait to help them to do another Soon!

If Denise Gibbs is still the administrator I would never send my family members there ever again. It's does have a decent home like atmosphere but my mother and número use others say they feel they are being treated like children. If they seem to be doing anything that they enjoy or lifts there spirits the administrator will make up rules on the fly that we're not there in the policy my mother signed. We were led to believe it was a great home until mom was settled in than we noticed what was really going on. Please avoid if you can.

What a wonderful, creative gem in York, Maine. Run by an energetic group of volunteers, shows run every month from April to November, with a Holiday Art and Craft Sale in December. Just recently they received a grant for their newly installed sculpture garden from the Nathaniel Wheeler Trust. Other events include Second Saturday concerts in the summer, Annual Art in the park on September 14th this year, and a lovely gift shop filled with unique and affordable art from local artisans. The "retro red" gallery is located at 124 York Street, in York Harbor and is open from 12:00 - 5:00 Thursdays through Sundays. Visit them in their airc-onditioned gallery today

I have been working with the MESEA for a number of years, as a learning facilitator, involved with the presentation of hand's-on, renewable energy assembly workshops for the general public and high-school classes. The MESEA also raises funds for poor communities in the devedloping world, interested in establishing solar 'cottage industry' businesses, which will allow the community members to manufacture, install as well as maintain the various renewable solar systems that they make, using local materials. I have been the Sec. of the Board of Directors for two years. The MESEA is a member supported, non-profit educational Corp., and a Chapter of the American Solar Energy Society, (ASES).

The CEO and staff are overpaid and their staff overhead is overwhelming. I will not donate to them anymore until the President and Chair of the board step down. They are a monopoly fleecing the state. Sad day.

I have visited many public and private gardens throughout the world and feel that the McLaughlin Garden is a hidden treasure of Western Maine. <br>The annual lilac blooms are magnificent in size, variety, and setting! The garden is well-tended and provides a good educational experience for all gardeners, from novices through experts. Helpful and friendly staff, lovely gift shop, and wonderful plant sales enhance a visitor's enjoyment of the historic site. I have attended the educational presentations and cultural events, but mainly love to just find peacefullness in the many shaded areas of the winding paths and restful benches among the native plants.

This is a wonderful training experience for performance artists of all genres and ages. The Barn provides opportunities to share discoveries and gain from exposure to seasoned professionals who participate both as teachers and students. I have attended summer workshops over a period of 30 years and I leave the workshops with equal amounts of success, challenge, and enthusiasm to pursue excellence.

I find that Frannie Peabody has been a very helpful progam, almost two years ago they help me start a Gay Men's Support group, for Gay men in the Saco/Biddeford area. When ever I need help with supplies such as pamphlets or condom supplies they have alway been there for me, inoder for me to have them available for the men in the group. They come and do HIV testing for those men that can't get to a testing facility. Over all they have been there whenever anything has come up and we need help.
