Columbus hospice is the best love volunteering there all staff are friendly and loving

I have had the privilege to help eight different years in the refurbishing or repairing homes for Veterans who really needed the help. It does the heart good to meet them, talk with them, and hear their appreciation. The selection is based on need and this is a wonderful program.

GTC is involved in Romania too. Provides budgets for different projects but only great on line resources.<br>The team is wonderful. Great leadership!

My main IFM connection has been as a volunteer English as a Second Language teacher for the last 5 or so years. (That was also my career in the school system for 21 years.). I love meeting and welcoming people , and I love filling their real need of feeling comfortable in our country. We have a wonderful time together as we learn about Christ, learn vocabulary, improve reading and writing, and definitely become more comfortable speaking and understanding. (Of course, I sneak grammar in there, too!) Fun Games together add to their learning and understanding, too!

As a board member, I see first hand how the orchestra grows and responds to strong leadership. Both the conductor and the executive director motivate the students to do their best, work together as a unit and commit their time to improve. The YOGC provides opportunities for young musicians to perform in an orchestral setting...part of the YOGC mission satement. The amount of talent in our region is abundant...and good conducting brings out the best in everyone.

Hopegivers International is an organization which is definitely a kind of "Good Samaritan from the Bible. Myself and my family thank God for bringing this organization into existence for the good of all mankind. They use every resources wisely. I have seen it first-hand when went to see how they do what they say to do.

teen challenges are just what they need to be i went through the one in denver and its hard hard but it changed my life it literally changed my life and no they didnt brainwash me or anything now the counslers arent always certified mine wasnt but he was great and the other counseler was. now i cant speak for the tc in florida but the director of tc in denver went through it and so did a few guys i know and they say its a thousand times more strict. i cant believe you said they even hire ex cons well no shi* thats what they do! they change an addicts life into a good life unlike people like you that accuse judge and kick them to the curb ass the director of tc in denver was a addict in new york as a kid and now he changes and saves lifes everyday so dont talk about cons and addicts like there scum are you without sin? were all human and make mistakes

In the past few months I’ve seen Animal Ark Rescue save many from the local Columbus Animal Control “shelter”—many of whom were in terrible condition—Lady Georgia comes to mind first—dragging a huge 5 lb. tumor on one hind leg, she was totally ignored by other rescues..those who tend to pull only the ones their Northern partners say they want—usually the cute adoptable ones and not the ones that need desperate medical attention. Two other dogs, both badly burned and disfigured, were also saved by Animal Ark, when no one else would step up for them, these babies’ names were Hutch and Klaus. For these reasons that I have stated here, Animal Ark Rescue is the main rescue I am now donating to.

I like to start out by saying " God is Able". Let's all stop what we're doing to listen/read what's here please. Ron & Debbie Anderson have so much to our community here in Columbus Ga. I've know these awesome people for many years and was their maintenance man, dear friend. Unfortunately, Ron Anderson passed but thankfully, he was called to Heaven ! Debbie is still being that light in all our lives. The theater with all the Wounderful people associated are awesome and great talent ??????. I personally love this family with no end. Honestly, God has plans with Debbie and son. I won't put their personal information out there in Public ,in respect of their privacy. Columbus is a better place now due to the Andersons family's genuine love of giving ❤️. Everyone who knew Ron Anderson and Debbie can verify the great sacrifices and giving with no intention of receiving anything just to be that one great ray of light for those in need and helping someone being a better person/s in life. i just love all they do and can not give what i want

I volunteered at Easter Seals a few years ago and I was placed in a classroom to help with all of the children. I believe it was a Pre-K or K classroom, and being with the children from 7 or 8 in the morning to 5 and 6 in the evening really helped me to see that disabilities don't stop them from being themselves. Getting to know and help these kids was one of the most amazing and memorable experiences of my life. Everyone thinks that disabilities stop children from being happy, but I believe that it makes them better, more unique and special. Just having someone with them to play with them will make them so happy. I highly recommend volunteering here and I hope you have the same experience that I did.

Open Door is wonderful organization with a caring & loving staff. The mission is to empower people in poverty to get out of poverty by offering counseling, housing resource options, after school program where students that are often behind are meeting or exceeding their grade level, programs to help families take control of their finances & become self sufficient and a low income Senior Adult Program and more. If you call to take a tour and learn more, you will be amazed at all Open Door offers. Please give all you can or volunteer.

My Giving Story: The Shiny Bike<br><br> A fuzzy memory pops into my head every Christmas season: I must have been seven, or eight years old. My parents drove my siblings and I down to a part of town where we rarely went. It was dark, the heavy dark of winter, and it was cold. I may have been a bit cranky because I was forced to wear tights and dress shoes, anticipating some &ldquo;grown-up&rdquo; event where I would have to sit still.<br><br> We entered a building and wound our way to a gym. Bleachers lined the walls of the basketball court make-shift auditorium; someone was handing out plastic mesh stockings that contained oranges, apples and candy canes. I looked around and saw children and parents holding the stockings around me. I fidgeted with my dress, uninterested in the talking that was going on below.<br><br> Suddenly, there was a commotion. Chatter in waves filled the gym. I listened closely and heard the speaker say that one lucky member was about to win a bike. A shiny BMX bike was wheeled into the center of the gym. Anticipation mounted. Children leaned forward on the worn wooden bleachers, scooting to the edge of their seat. A name was called.<br><br> My memory fades remembering the boy in the red sweatshirt with worn jeans bolting to the floor to claim his prize; hands shaking as he grasped his special, shiny, brand new bike. He didn&rsquo;t have to dress up. I wondered if Santa would bring me a new bike too.<br><br> Years later, I realized the significance of that night. I had attended the Christmas celebration at our local Boys Club, now known as the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Chattahoochee Valley. The children there that night, came from one of our more impoverished neighborhoods. The stockings full of fruits and a few sweets were probably the only treats they would receive during the holiday season. The boy who won the bike, he may as well have been Charlie winning a golden ticket; he hit the jackpot. That night was his visit from Santa.<br><br> Years later, I&rsquo;m a third generation Board Member with our local clubs. My grandmother and father before me taught me about the importance of each of our Boys & Girls Clubs in the development of leadership, health, and success of the youth in our community. After years of watching my grandmother sell daisies as a fundraiser, and my father serve time as President of the Board, I went on to get my first real job working in the administrative office. I was responsible for calling donors to sponsor a golf tournament to benefit the programs at the clubs. I discovered how much those dollars stretched to provide a safe haven and to give children coming to after school and summer programs some well-rounded extracurricular activities - after homework of course!<br><br> As a college student, I returned with classmates to complete service projects in the J. Barnett Woodruff Club to showcase what the kids were learning. I saw first hand how much the staff loved those kids; how important it was to keep the teenagers on track. Most stunning, was we heard it from the kids too. Recent local Youth of the Year winner N&rsquo;Zier Bohannon, spoke to us at our Women&rsquo;s Giving Circle Luncheon and told attendees that the Clubs and their staff were responsible for sending him to college. He lamented that his younger brother didn&rsquo;t come to the clubs, didn&rsquo;t follow his path ,and was not able to benefit from the same opportunities he did. Misty eyed, he thanked every one in the room for supporting the clubs because it meant we were making a difference in the lives of children like him.<br><br> I don&rsquo;t have one single time that supporting a non-profit meant something to me; My Giving Story is about one organization that has my heart. The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Chattahoochee Valley have inspired joy, hope, and dreams of a successful future in the lives of children that may have otherwise been derailed. In my opinion, the best way to positively influence our community is to raise up our children, and our local Boys & Girls Clubs do just that.

This is a huge help for our community. This charity helps with food, community resources like how and where to get help with utility assistance, shelter, and more. The staff is eager to help anyone in need. I was a person in need at one time and now I help others by volunteering with this network.

My name is Wanda Noyes and i am the Events Coordinator, and we are in Columbus, Ga, and we are asking you if you could donate a bicycle so we can raffle it. We are trying to raise money for the center. We need a new floor in the meeting room and in the lobby they are real weak. And we had a water leak in the lobby and we need to replace the ceiling. We have had alot of rain and when it rains we have alot of leaks in the ceiling. And we are trying to come up with different things to raise money for the center. We are hoping you can help us out. We have alot of people that come in the center and we sure don't want no one to fall through the floor or the ceiling to fall on them. And one of the leaks are at the light fixture.
