The Transition Home is a 12-bed facility for unacccompanied homeless women in which they may reside for up to two years (HUD definition of transitional housing).  During that time, each resident must be working, seeking work, attending an educational program, or attending a day treatment program if substance abuse needs to be addressed.  The goal of the program is for each woman to obtain sustainable income, either through employment or disability, and move into sustainable permanent housing.  This program is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

In the spirit of Christian ministry, the mission of Open Door Community House, Inc. work in partnership with other area service providers to meet basic needs and to empower low income persons in the Chattahoochee Valley realize their full potential as children of God. Founded in 1935, the ministry focus has evolved from emergency funding to advocacy, housing, and education to assist people in becoming self sufficient by maintaining employment and permanent housing.
