I've been volunteering at OSOTA for over 6 years. It is always a fulfilling experience. This is a very well organized organization that provides needed items for the troops. I'll be back again next year.

This organization works so hard to support people who are in need and who want a hand up, not a hand out. The Angel Projects has helped so many young people as well as the elderly ! God bless this group and continue to support them through the many years to come

I am truly delighted to be a part of this all-volunteer organization. Our focus is dedicated to families with chronically ill or medically-complex children in the Chicagoland area. Our family has participated in several volunteer opportunities including lawn clean up teams, family sponsorship for holidays, etc. We get great joy in helping our community support families in need of "a break" from the everyday responsibilities so that they can spend more time with their loved ones.

We adopted our cat 14 yrs ago from you. Chase passed away last week. We had 14 wonderful yrs with our loving boy chase. Thanks so much I highly recommend you rescues. He especially loved being on our screened porch. He was lovable and so sweet.

In 2007, I was forced off my job and lost my primary source of income. I never in a million years imagined this would happen. I was in shock. I applied for food stamps but only received benefits for one month. I swallowed my pride and visited my local food pantry. It was a degrading experience. A volunteer recognized me and inquired about what happened to my "big fancy job." I broke down and cried. That day and vowed I'd rather starve than return. Broken and facing foreclosure, I still needed food. A year earlier I founded New Community Counseling and Ministries, (NCCM), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, in order to provide sliding-scale Christian Counseling. Given my predicament, (hungry) I decided that now might be a good time to branch out and add a food program to the services already provided by New Community. I intentionally sought to design a program that would encourage and empower people who received assistance and that rewarded positive participation. I also sincerely wanted to help others: wards of the state, veterans, people with disabilities, single parents, seniors and people living below the poverty level. After seeing the cans and cans of potatoes and peaches that were sitting unused in the cabinets of people I assisted through NCCM, and, knowing how much I disliked canned food, I applied for food donations from Whole Foods and was thrilled to hear that our application was approved. I've personally grown through the experience of running a food bank and have learned some hard lessons. Today, Food Thing Network is a unique, empowering, low budget, sustainable, healthy food bank and is a viable alternative to traditional food banks. We provide healthy, mostly organic food for hundreds of people, once a week, throughout the year. We are ourselves a family of sorts. As the founder, I am proud and very pleased to read the words written here by those we serve.

Diane Nilan has worked extensively with the homeless population for many years. She has devoted her life to helping homeless kids. They are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population explosion. They try to give a voice and a face to the kids who are the most affected and least responsible for the situation they find them selves in. How can a child learn in school if they don't know where they are sleeping, and when they are going to eat again. Hear Us have won honors for the documentary video they put together. My husband was a former client, as well as a couple of friends and an ex boy friend. All except the ex got back on their feet, and are now home owners. We are all so grateful to be blessed by this special Heaven sent woman.

This organization is just one guy who makes money by inciting hate against gay people.<br>This fellow Peter has been milking the anti-gay thing for money for decades

We got 2 tabby cat kittens from adopt in 2001. They were the sweetest, healthiest kittens. Full of energy and love for our family. They not only loved my very young children unconditionally but were popular with all of their friends. One of the 2 is Still here at 17 years old and still bringing us joy every day. I credit the foster woman for their behavior and health. Everyone we worked with during the adoption process was wonderful and caring of not just the kittens but also in finding the perfect fit for our family

Naperville CARES is now part of Loaves & Fishes Community Services. Great work is being done, but now it is at 1871 High Grove Lane in Naperville

Thankfully, I've never had to reach out to AVHV for help, but I would like to say a few things. My ex-wife was a Social Worker for Catholic Charities on a VA grant for homeless veterans. While the grant did provide some amazing assistance to our brothers and sisters who were/are chronically homeless for one reason or another, it was not the end all, be all for many. This is where Larry and AVHV come in, as they would often make up the difference between what the grant provided and what her clients needed. <br><br>My ex-wife is an amazing person, but she can also be very judgmental and, often times, very harsh when judging others. She constantly spoke of the numerous veteran's charities that were out there in which the owner was using his or her non-profit to personally enrich himself. However, she never spoke of Larry this way and only gave him glowing reviews each and every time he helped out one of her clients. She constantly talked about how much time and energy that Larry put into what he was doing, usually all by himself. She often spoke about how he would drive around picking up clothing and furniture donations from people's houses all weekend long. While I've never met the man, I've heard so much about him, and even after my ex-wife completely broke my trust and we went our separate ways, I will always recommend Larry and AVHV when someone asks me for advice on a local veteran's charity that they should donate to. My current employer donates money on behalf of employees every year, and I will be nominating Larry and AVHV each and every year until they receive the donation.<br><br>Don't be afraid to volunteer or donate to American Veterans Helping Veterans, and if you have any doubts, contact the DuPage, Kane, Will County Veterans Assistance Commissions (VAC) and talk to the employees there. I have no doubt that they're recommendation will be the same as mine; help Larry help local veterans in need!

Dealing with a love one that has dementia or Alzheimer’s isn’t an easy task to take on. River walk adult day center has provided assistance to my love one and myself that makes this situation easier day by day. It provides a source of independency and supervision that helps my love one still feels all is well in a situation that she doesn’t understand. I appreciate Jennifer and the entire staff for the patience and care that they exude on a daily basis. <br> <br>Thank you, <br> <br>

There is no other agency like this in our community - truly committed to serving the needs of our youth. Staff have their hearts in their work and it shows!

5 Stars. AHK is an incredible facility. I have personally been involved for approximately 7 years, my daughter volunteers and my husband is on the medical advisory board. AHK is a temporary home for children that are nedically fragile or respite care for families who may need a break from the burden of daily care. The staff is highly trained and truly love each and every child. It's a medical facility that feels like home. We need more houses like AHK!

If I could give a zero I would!! I started my journey trying to adopt Dillon ( who is still posted on petfinder) in December 2023. The communication was terrible very intermittent. But I fell in love with the dog so my family jumped through the hoops. We were finally able to do a meet and greet then weeks later I spent over $300 got my dog fixed so we could secure an overnight and home check , the volunteer and foster to Dillion showed up today(3/9/2024) at my home with him and his stuff and proceeds to tell me she can't give him up!!! I waited 3 months for her to show up at MY home and tell me that. She should not be in foster business! Needless I have been a crying mess all day due to all of this. So hopefully someone will read this and be cautious!!!

Community Christian Church is a generous church that makes a powerful impact locally and around the world through their outreach programs. They spend over $500,000 per year to address a variety of Christian causes including: getting involved in under-resourced schools, planting new churches around the world, prison ministries, programs to help the poor and those in need, dealing with injustices, small group Bible studies and more. If you want to put your faith to work, this is a great church to be a part of.

I reached out to ANAD in the 70’s when i was struggling with an eating disorder. Their Founder Vivian Meehan has been my role model and the reason i founded our local Eating Disorders Resource Center in 2006. I wanted to offer our local community the same awesome services ANAD provides including their network of resources for support, awareness, advocacy, referral, education, and prevention.<br>ANAD is the oldest organization aimed at fighting eating disorders in the United States. <br>We have implemented many of their tools in our local effort including their excellent model for peer to peer support groups and their Guidelines for Educators.<br> <br>ANAD epitomizes the definition of collaboration. ANAD continues to be EDRC’s “go to’ for the latest on all areas related to eating disorders.<br> <br>Thank you for being an invaluable resource for me and for those struggling with eating disorders and their families<br>

The Bernard Coffey Veterans Foundation is a wonderful organization of caring people. They hold a number of events each year honoring and highlighting our veterans and military members, along with their families. Bernard Coffey is not only a service-disabled Navy veteran, he is a dynamic and passionate man who will do anything he can to help his veteran and military brothers and sisters.

I have been associated with the Naperville Art League for just over three years and I can tell you that there is not a more dedicated group of volunteers. It's mission is to provide art instruction and education, to encourage interest in all forms of creative art, to stimulate understanding and appreciation of art in the community and to participate in other related activities. <br> The art on display at the gallery shows a great diversity of style and materials. Come be inspired! The personnel are awesome and the programming is creative and inspired. Take, for instance, "Broken Barriers," Naperville Art League's annual public art competition. It was inspired by the collaboration between the arts organization and fellow non-profit, Loaves and Fishes Community Services. By creating a partnership for the competition, both groups are reaching a larger audience and increasing awareness of their presence in the community. <br> The Naperville Art League is a gem, not to be missed. My only criticism is that the hours that the gallery is open to the public are a little slim. <br>

This new comer to the non-profit family has great potential and is a beacon in the night. This organization embraces and serves families striving to better themselves. It is a diverse force that focuses on education, training, tutoring, nourishment, and job attainment. <br> <br>KNOW THEM! SUPPORT THEM! EMBACE THEM!

What an excellent organization. The support for the development of each youth who participates in the program is impressive. The growth and outreach work, which is tireless, is done regularly with great passion. It is a privilege to support such a positive, impactful organization.
