I have had an incredible experience serving as a mentor at CSC. The community is welcoming, empowering, and supportive. It's mission and impact is incredibly powerful. I look forward to continuing my time here and recommend this to anyone interested in serving the community in this way!

Sunflower’s goal is to establish an interconnected rail-trail system in the Sunflower State. Toward this end, Sunflower railbanks/conserves out-of-service rail lines and then finds local volunteer project coordinators to recruit volunteers to build the trails. To date we have two successes: the 6.5-mile Southwind Rail Rail between Iola and Humboldt and a two-mile section of the Osage Cuestas Trail which will stretch 19 miles between Fredonia and Chanute. The Conservancy is also working with a committee in Lyons to get portion of the 38-mile Quivira Trail built. We also serve as an information clearinghouse on rails-to-trails in the Sunflower State and as an advocacy organization.

KIDS has changed my life! I came to volunteer at KIDS in January of this year for two months! It was my first mission trip and first time traveling alone outside of the US. As soon as I arrived, everyone was so welcoming and helpful. I immediately knew this was a very special place. I loved my experience so much here that I decided to come back in the summer and intern for 6 months! <br> <br>There are so many ministry areas to serve in, there is a place for everyone! The community I have made here is amazing, and I have been so blessed by the hearts of those behind KIDS. It is a family here and I am grateful to be a part of it! KIDS will forever have a place in my heart!

They put up smear ads that run on hulu constantly. I don't support any political group that puts out bad-mouthing ads of other people.

This is a fantastic nonprofit that does so much good in multiple communities, and uses donor dollars very efficiently. The nonprofit bears the name of Claire VanLandingham, whose life was tragically cut short due to intimate partner violence, but the good Claire ushered into the world during her short life lives on through this organization. Its many projects and initiatives all center around six guiding principles: All people should have access to healthy food, health care, shelter, safe relationships, caring role models and that the earth's resources should be protected. This small but mighty organization is collaborating with diverse groups to make progress in all these areas. It offers grants to mission-aligned nonprofits, leads interventions that provide funds and volunteer resources for nonprofits, and is launching a community training called Claire's Community that trains adults to help youth build relationships that are free of violence. If you have funds you want to invest to bring about transformative change, invest them in #BeMoreLikeClaire!

Through my 30+ years working for KU Dining Services at the University of Kansas, we worked closely with Just Food and are well aware of the great work they do for our community. During this difficult time throughout our country and the world, I know there are many in need of the services Just Food offers. I found StopGap Inc. while I was working on my undergraduate degree at KU. I was researching the likelihood of youth attending college after aging-out of the foster care system. What I learned from my research is that kids who age-out desperately want to attend college but they are poorly prepared for living on their own, for attending college, getting and keeping a job, and understanding their personal finances. StopGap, Inc. is a program that specifically addresses those life skills and works to improve the lives of those aging out of care. StopGap, Inc. is doing the work that these kids desperately need so they can have a chance at independence. If you are concerned about how 18-year-old's previously in state care will be able to afford housing, keep a job, enroll in school, and manage their finances, this is the organization you should support.

I'm writing to counter a recent review which claimed that our voucher program where we give free work clothes, winter coats & boots, pots & pans, blankets and necessary items to people in need, promotes the sale of these items for drugs. <br>This concept is completely wrong and illogical. Who could sell used clothing and kitchenware for drug money? Who would they sell such things to, and how much would they reap? It makes no sense and seems a malicious statement. We issue vouchers to 25 local agencies who send us individuals and families in need of help. If a fire takes their home and possessions we help with items to tide them over. If they are coming out of domestic violence homes or from the Children's Shelter, we do the same. We also issue voucher through the Douglas County Jail System for brand new work boots, for men and women who are on work-release and require steel-toed boots for the job. How is this a bad program? <br>Secondly, it is unfair to call the store a dusty cramped space. We invite anyone to come in and decide for themselves,. We have only two employees, our general manager and our donations manager. They work very hard to keep the store clean, interesting and inviting. I've added some photos of how they decorated the store for the past election season-- we had dozens of compliments. It takes an enormous amount of work to run a store like this with just two people. We have had many people give us positive feedback on our general manager, but if you have a specific complaint that you would like to discuss, write the board at our 905 Rhode Island address, we will get back to you promptly. We would also be happy to meet with you in person.

This organization, as well as Prairie Moon Waldorf School specifically, promotes the bizarre, racist, and cultish philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, a self-proclaimed occultist who called his beliefs "Anthroposophy". I would encourage anyone interested in Prairie Moon or Waldorf in general to research Anthroposophy and Waldorf critics and personal stories. Anthroposophy isn't specifically mentioned to parents when they inquire about the school; instead Prairie Moon is sold as a nature based, "whole child" school where students learn charming skills like gardening and bread-making. In actuality children below the age of around 7 years are denied books (older children make their own), writing instruments, black or dark brown crayons, paper with square corners, dolls with faces, or modern technology. All of the walls are lazured to allow "spirits to pass through". Children aren't taught to read before they lose their baby teeth so that the connection to the child's past incarnation is kept intact. They're denied black crayons or anything pencil-shaped or with sharp corners for the same reason. The children are surreptitiously assigned a "temperament" by the teacher on the first day and taught to that temperament. Bullying is not addressed or intervened with because Waldorf dictates that children must work out their "karma". The school is rife with superstition, rituals, incantations, and magical teachings that defy logic or scientific fact. For instance, when my son asked where the flame in a match came from when the teacher lit a candle prior to lunch, the teacher told him that the flame came from a "fire sprite" who lived in the match. When the match was blown out, the "fire sprite went to sleep". It is frustrating and infuriating to know that children (and more subtly, the parents) are indoctrinated into this bizarre cult without any amount of transparency and that it is the children who ultimately suffer with the bullying and academic delays that this type of school imposes.

Because of CIS she went from at-risk student to high school graduate, and is now enrolled in college hoping to earn a degree in criminal justice.

The American Fallen Warrior Memorial is more than just a monument to me. It is a testament to the bravery and unfaltering patriotism of our sons and daughters who fight for our freedom. My son's name will be on the Memorial, and it is always my honor and privilege to attend Jack Barnes' events honoring our heroes. When we look up and see several hundred people with tears in their eyes and love in their hearts honoring our fallen, our Vets, and our active duty service members, a small piece of our shattered lives is gently replaced. We live to tell our hero's stories, and no one does this better than Jack Barnes.

I have fostered for Keeshond Lovers United for many years and they are the best at rescue of Keeshonden in the heartland.

I served as Chapter Champion for the CREW Network Foundation this past year for the Charlotte NC Chapter which was my first major introduction into the value and benefits CREW Network offers. I learned through the delegate process about the many resources available from CREW Network for women and their careers at all levels. I had agreed to participate in our local mentoring program but had never participated in a formal process. The whitepapers available from CREW Foundation gave me direct access to ten women and their experiences in a process I was embarking on....being considered seasoned in my career, I am excited relevant programming and resources are available to me personally. CREW Foundation also is active in promoting real estate careers in young women. My daughter personally benefitted from CREW Foundation by being awarded one of the Network Foundation scholarships in 2014. She has already received benefits and exposure young women do not normally have the opportunity to be exposed through unless in an environment specifically focused on building women like CREW Network. I was so proud to see the notes she took and engage in the conversations she had about the speakers at convention and networking available in Miami this year. There is no question she has more confidence in herself as a student, leader and future career person after the experiences over the past year through CREW. I believe strongly in the CREW Network Foundation and so excited me and my daughter were able to participate in so many ways this year!

This nonprofit has helped parents and teachers since 1980 to understand through workshops and publications how students learn more efficiently and process information in the classroom. ILS has given student scholarships to accelerate their learning proficiency and raise their self-esteem. Many students subsequently, have realized a higher quality of life.

Theatre Lawrence offers so many incredible opportunities to the community. I have been volunteering for over 6 years both onstage and off and have been so impressed by the various type of people who are all drawn together to support live performance. I am especially appreciative of the Youth Education programs that involve children in so many engaging creative activities!

Family Promise of Lawrence is one of the most effective and engaging service programs in Douglas County, Kansas. Truly a community response to homelessness, FPL transforms the lives of families and children in crisis. Volunteers who host through participating congregations learn to put their faith into action right within the walls of their own house of worship. It's an extraordinary way for families to connect with families, and for all of us to grow in love of neighbor. Keep up the good work, FPL!

Lawrence Community Shelter is welcoming to everyone who comes through their doors. Our family volunteers often with the womens' support group and dog treat work projects. The guests are loving, spiritual and appreciative. The staff cares and helps each guest find a path to a positive future outside of the shelter. Helping at the shelter is so rewarding and it is like a family. God bless them for their work with the homeless for over 8 years.

Bill Self truly cares about every aspect of wellness in children. His Assists Foundation has made a huge difference for the children of Lawrence, Kansas and the Lawrence Public Library. We can't thank Coach Self and his family enough for their generous support of kids and reading!
