Review for Palomacy Pigeon & Dove Adoptions, San Francisco, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I consult to many nonprofit organizations. I took MickaCoo on because of their unique mission, and that they were incredibly well managed considering their small staff resources (1.0 FTE) and excellent professional dedicated volunteers. The pigeons and doves are well cared for and open my eyes to the needs of these birds--which I never knew about! Donors can be absolutely confident in their donations being used wisely and efficiently for the MickaCoo pigeons and doves. I know this as I have been consulting ton nonprofits for over 10 years and I am very picky with the public's money and how it is spent. Hats off to Elizabeth Young and her talented professional volunteer staff!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Raise more money for it and help to expand its rescues and its fosters as well as its outreach and education program.

Will you volunteer or donate to this organization beyond what is required of advisors?

Review for Animal Place, Grass Valley, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I love Animal Place. I took my students from University of San Francisco to visit Animal Place for the first time back in 2008 at the Vacaville site. I was touched by the stories of the animals as well as the animals themselves. And the staff was knowledgeable and helpful. I returned with more of my USF students several times and also volunteer when I can. Now that Animal Place is in Grass Valley, the ability for the org to do great work rescuing and rehabilitating farmed and neglected animals has expanded 4-fold. I only wish it was closer to where I live in Sonoma County! We need an Animal Place in every county in CA for the rescuing and rehabbing of animals and for the educational setting it provides to the general public regarding the lives of farmed animals. And, I love the vegan treats they serve!:)

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Yes, I have! I was moved by the stories of the animals and stopped eating chicken (the last animals I was eating at the time) due to my experience of Animal Place. I have also been inspired to do educational work on behalf of farm animals in Sonoma County.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Put the whole Sanctuary and Rescue Ranch on solar power and build water tanks to capture rain water. Basically, water and solar energy conservation to save the planet as well as all of us animals (and bring the Animal Place utility bills down:)

Role:  Volunteer & I brought students from USF Environmental Ethics classes and volunteer for events on occasion.
