Review for Second Chance Inc, Baltimore, MD, USA
My intent for this letter is to give my perspective in working with Second Chance for the deconstruction of our house.
For our property, I had Juan as the work crew Supervisor and he had 5 others on his team that did our house deconstruction. I spent my career in manufacturing management until I retired and Juan and his crew were great. He had an organized system and showed wonderful communication and leadership skills with his people.
First they were very professional, worked hard and were very efficient. They showed up each morning on time, were very polite and considerate to any needs that I had expressed, cleaned up at the end of each day and most importantly, cleaned up at the end of the total deconstruction.
They called to ask if they could arrive a few days ahead of schedule which in my experience almost never happens so we were so delighted. And they were able to finish 1 week ahead of the schedule that I was expecting.
It was very impressive watching their progress each day, first starting on the interior and eventually working their way to the exterior.
I was amazed at how quickly they worked and the amount of construction materials they were able to salvage during the deconstruction of our house. They also removed 2 large steel beams that spanned the first and second floors which were not known in early inspections, significantly reducing the weight and amount that a demolition company would need to haul to landfill. They also removed a significant amount of insulation material which they nicely bagged and took for reuse. This eliminated one of my earlier concerns expressed by a demolition company that often the insulation would not be taken, get wet from rain after Second Chance finished before the house would finally be demolished and add more weight to their landfill costs.
I was happy to watch them load 2 large trucks with all the materials from our house to go back to Second Chance for re-use in another worthy cause.
Our house was 2 stories, roughly 1500 sf with a small 4 foot crawl space. They significantly reduced the waste for landfill, to the crawl space and about 4 feet high of the first floor which they contained by leaving a partial plywood wall acting as an envelope to hold the waste.
Thank you Second Chance for a very Professional job!
