I want to reach out to all those people who don't know angels for pets exist. For the Love of Alex came to my recuse.
I'm a 74 year old lady who went out my back door one day recently and discovered a small dog tied to my step railing by chain and collar. The unknown party left food and water, a bag of dog food, treats and a couple toys. OMG I thought.. what on earth is going on.. not sure of all the happenings around this senerio at that time. I took the dog into my home.
The dog was extremely matted,and dirty.
One if my grandchildren gave him a bath..but couldn't do much because of the matting... so took to a local groomers as soon as possible. Only to see and hear bad news from the groomers at pickup time. The groomers showed me a hugh tumor under his neck. Oh my I couldn't believe the size of this thing. The groomer referred me to her vet to get an opinion of what to do next. I took him to the vets at a cost to me of close to $200... and had just paid $77 for grooming. I'm retired ,on a limited income, and also trying to support 2 teenage grandchildren. The vet gave me the bad news, then I was shocked at the surgery estimate to be little over $800..
I became quite emotionally. The surgery needed to be done very soon. This little boy was such a sweet,well mannered little fellow and had become part of our family in these few short weeks. I just couldn't agree to being put to sleep...nor did I know how I was going to be able to come up with that kind of money for his surgery in 2 weeks. As was suggested, I spent the next 3-4 days searching for help,calling,waiting on return calls, and filing applications for help. Finally, For the Love of Alex reached out to help me as well as another source. Between the 2 of these wonderful non-profit organizations covered all the expenses. The surgery was done and our little fellow has recovered beautiful. Such a happy fellow, such a happy family that we were there for him and that people like For the Love of Alex were such a big part in helping to give our new pet another chance at life. Love you guys so much for all you did and even continued to check in from time to time to be updated on his recovery. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts
