I truly can’t thank FTLOA enough for what they’ve done for my beloved cat, Bagel and my family. When Bagel fell seriously ill and needed a Perineal Urethrostomy (PU) surgery, I was overwhelmed and didn't know where to turn. Without this surgery, Bagel wouldn't have survived. For The Love of Alex stepped in at the most critical moment. Their support was not only financial, but also emotional. They guided me through the process, offering reassurance and hope when I needed it most. Thanks to their generosity and dedication, Bagel received the life-saving surgery he needed. Today, Bagel is happy, healthy, and thriving, all because of the amazing work done by For The Love of Alex. They are a beacon of hope for pet owners in desperate situations. I am forever grateful to this incredible nonprofit for saving Bagel's life and giving us more time together. I could go on and on and on about For The Love Of Alex and Carla. I got Bagel after tragedy struck my family. I lost my mom, dad, and grandma within 6 months of each other. So you can imagine how attached I am to him! He was just 4 weeks old when I got him. He was being fostered by an acquaintance of mine. He’s a very special cat to me and in general. He plays fetch, he cuddles with me, spoons me to sleep every night. I love him dearly! If you care about pets, you need to check them out. They’re doing such incredible work! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for saving Bagel’s life and everything you’ve done for me and my family!
I contacted For the Love of Alex when my Yorkie and Pomsky were playing in the back yard. Munchie (my Yorkie) had an eye injury and needed immediate surgery to save his eye.
I am so thankful for this organization for helping save my babies vision!
Hi. My name is Whittney. I have a 4.5 yr old either Maine Coon or Norwegian Forest Cat Mix named Mookie Du. About 2 yrs ago, MookieDu experienced some sort of blunt force trauma. I don't know exactly what happened to him, but one night he didn't come in for his dinner. He NEVER missed a meal. I knew something was up, but I had to leave. I walked the ditch line looking for him, and everywhere else I could think of before I left. I returned home around midnight. He still didn't come in. I spent all night looking outside and hollering for my cat. The property we lived on was several acres, and away from the road, so we would let them roam for a few hours every night and had never experienced any issues.
I finally found Mookie around 5:30 A.M. I could tell something was wrong because he couldn't really walk, and had used the bathroom all over himself. So, I immediately grabbed a towel and picked him up, and drove him to the vet. They did x-rays and said nothing was broken, but they sent him home on a few meds. He eventually healed. Or so we thought...
Come to find out, that initial blunt force trauma caused a little hole in his diaphragm, and we didn't know. Over the past 2 years, I've had to take him to the vet due to breathing issues and just not acting right. They did more x-rays, and nothing showed up.
So, about a week and a half before Christmas, I came home around 11pm to find him dry heaving (which he never does), and screaming while trying to use the bathroom.
Immediately, I packed him up, and took him to the emergency vet clinic in my area. His actual vet's office was closed for the week of Christmas, and I couldn't wait till Monday to take him to a normal vet anyway. He was in too much pain, getting in and out of the litter box trying to make something happen and screaming every time. It literally makes me sick to think about what he was going through.
Come to find out, he had a diaphragmatic hernia. That small hole in his diaphragm had grown so big it was sucking his stomach, liver, small & large intestines, and his spleen into his chest cavity.
This means those organs were now pressing on his lungs and his heart. Part of them would slide in and some would stay out, depending on his movement. This had been going on for so long that part of his small intestines had actually adhered to the outside of the diaphragm, over a period of time.
Time was of the essence. And, it was Christmas, and my son's birthday was Dec 28th...and I was flat broke. I had actually borrowed the monies to have his initial visit at the pet er. I didn't know what to do.
This cat had seen me through some tough times, and I felt like he deserved the same from me. And I couldn't return the favor. He helped me through the grieving process of losing my mom, having to move, and all sorts of ups and downs.
Anyways, I got online and sat up day and night for 3 days, trying to find someone to help my baby. The whole time, I was having to watch him suffer in agony. I had filled out an application on one particular website. And while I waited on an answer, I decided to check out a list of other organizations they had listed as possible lifelines. One of them was "For The Love of Alex."
I went to their website and filled out the pre-application. After 3 days with no sleep and no food, I decided I had to lay down for a little bit. I woke up the next morning and checked my email. There was only one in response to MookieDu. It was from "For The Love of Alex." It was letting me know I was invited to fill out the full application. So, I did. I received a call from Carla, within the hour letting me know I was approved and that they would cover the entire cost of Mookie's surgery.
You want to talk about a Christmas Miracle. It was a couple days after Christmas, but I didn't celebrate and had sent my son back to Knoxville so he could have some sort of Christmas, because I wasn't in a good place, or good company.
So, the same morning I filled out the actual application, by that same evening, I had MookieDu back at the Pet ER and they were prepping him for surgery.
The crazy thing is Carla didn't make me feel crazy for being this upset about a pet. She didn't make me feel anything but 'understood.' Like it was normal for someone to go 3 days and nights without sleeping, or eating, because of the love they had for their animal, and their determination to not quit. I was so relieved about that. More than she will ever know. Most people would have thought me nuts or tried to have me committed. But, Carla understood the need I had to get help for my baby. And she helped me. I told her that she not only saved my cat's life, but she saved mine, too. I don't think I could have made it through having to put my cat down all because I didn't have enough money. It would have killed me. I took this fur baby on and he had become a part of me. He had been there through the fostering of almost 30 other kittens. He had provided me joy when nothing else could, while I was grieving my mom's passing.
He has completely healed now. His belly is still shaved and so is the spot where the IV went in his little arm. He looks funny, and refuses to go outside because his belly freezes. But, he is back to running up and down my hallway screaming what sounds just like "mama" every night around midnight. It is like music to my ears. He has the quirkiest personality of any cat I've ever seen. And after fostering almost 30 in 3 years, I have seen a few. He runs up to me everyday, and looks into my soul and says, "Thanks mom. Thanks for not letting me die. And I feel brand new." If I could only get him to understand that it wasn't me. It was the precious people at "For The Love of Alex."
If it weren't for them, I don't know if we would both be here right now. So, I ask, if you can, please donate to this wonderful foundation. They are the real deal. And they are completely donor based. And don't think that you can't make a difference. Because there is power in numbers. $5 is better than $0. Of course, if you can give more, or do it on a monthly basis, please do. They need it right now. I hate to think of the pain that somebody else will have to face because this foundation couldn't help them. What a terrible thing that would be. So, help save a life. The life of somebody's fur baby. I promise you won't regret it. I assure you it will come back to you in some form or fashion.
Thanks for taking the time to learn about this wonderful foundation and the fact that they saved my cat's life. Help them help others & God Bless.
Our boy Hudson (a puggle) had at least 12 painful bladder stones that were causing him to urinate blood, have accidents in the home, and his abdomen was swollen and tender to the touch. Hudson needed surgery to remove the stones ASAP or the stones could migrate and cause a life-threatening urinary obstruction in Hudson’s urethra.
For the Love of Alex came to our and Hudson’s rescue! Their communication with us and our vet was clear and timely. They paid the entire surgery cost for Hudson! They even followed up with us all during his recovery to see how Hudson was doing. They truly care about the animals and families they help.
Without their help, I don’t know how we would have gotten Hudson his needed surgery and I am forever grateful to them. Hudson just had his 7th birthday and is back to his old self and doing fabulous. ❤️ Hudson’s Family ❤️
My dog toasty had a mass grow on his right wrist and vet was suspicious of it. Needed to have it removed and biopsy done to see if it was cancer. Thank goodness I found For the love of Alex. Their quick response to my need in help. Being a friendly and kind support system to Toasty and our family. I couldn’t ask for a better organization to help us in the time of need we was in. Praying it turned out to be nothing and he would have a healthy recovery. End result, toasty came out with flying colors. Healthy, no cancer. His wrist is healing and he seems to no longer be in the pain he was in from the beginning. I am just so glad they responded to me as fast as they did, and was ready to help as soon as I was able to have a date. They also helped us with a GI issue Toasty was going through as well which I am very thankful for, it was another bill I wasn’t expecting to receive. Toasty is my emotional support dog, he’s my best friend. I treat him as I do my children and my self not as a pet. So when he is sick, it’s devestating to me and my family as he helps me daily push through. So thank you for all you have done For the love of Alex

I would’ve never been able to afford this treatment which saved Snowbaby’s life.
I am forever grateful and indebted to this charity for the rest of my life.

Hawi is my name. I am a 4 year old black cat that lives in Waikiki Honolulu. My mom found me at 3 months old downstairs in her apartment parking lot all alone. She saved my life! I love my mom so much. In March of 2024 I began having blood in my urine and really struggling. She changed my diet, got numerous rounds of antibiotics for me but nothing helped. My bladder stones only multiplied to 7 and were the size of sticker burs. After 4 months my mom who is 70, disabled and living in public housing reached out to FOR THE LOVE OF ALEX and in less then 4 days had been personally contacted by phone that they would cover 100% of all of my medical expenses! She told me it was the best birthday present she had ever received! That's right on June 24 she turned 70 and I received my life saving surgery. If it had not been from the kindness and love from each and every one of you who have given and want to give now please never forget this " YOU HAVE NOT LIVED TODAY UNTIL YOU HAVE DONE SOMETHING FOR SOMEONE WHO CAN NEVER REPAY YOU" John Bunyan. I am so so happy now! I am pain free and able to go about my day enjoying my fur family, watching rainbows from my window but most of all sleeping on my mommy's chest gazing into her eyes as she finally is able to sleep and knows in her heart I am finally OK! God Bless all of you who saved me! Aloha & Mahalo
I reached out to For Love of Alex for help removing a broken tooth for my kitty Deirdre. Every step of the way everyone I interacted with was kind and helpful. It was incredible only having to worry about my baby and not how to afford the cost of the extraction. Deirdre is doing absolutely amazing now wrestling with her brother and acting like nothing ever happened. I’m so eternally grateful. When I’m in a better financial situation I know I’ll be donating whatever I can. Thank you for Love of Alex!
Our sweet Kitty Loki who is only 2 1/2 years old has battled this urinary blockage disease for 6 months. He has also strictly been on Hills c/d wet and dry, purified water and no treats what so ever. Even with everything I've tried to do to help/keep him healthy, he still has episodes. It's so painfully excruciating for him that every single time it happens and with every vet visit is very expensive. He was responding to gabapentin and prazosin for awhile but the last two blockages he had to be admitted in the hospital to get catheter in and relieved his blockage for a couple of days. I have spent our savings and borrowed money from care credit and friends and family. His last blockage the vet suggested to get him PU surgery that’s when I came across for the love of Alex for help. I wasn’t expecting a response but Carla called me right away and the vet and paid for Lokis surgery. For the love of Alex saved my baby Lokis life me and my family are forever grateful.
A feral cat had kittens in our garage and we took in the runt of the litter. Cloud had a twisted leg and he had fading kitten syndrome so we had to feed him and give him antibiotics for an eye infection so that he could live. Unfortunately his eye nor his leg could be saved. The vet told us that he needed enucleation to close his empty eye lid and leg amputation to remove the twisted leg, which caused him pain. Unable to pay for the much needed surgeries, For The Love of Alex stepped in to assist. After surgery Cloud is doing amazing and we are so thankful for this organization. It has been a God send!
We took in a cat named Jersey, when a friend passed away with cancer. He was a bit feral- hadn't been handled, as he was supposed to be a barn cat. Over the last few years, he has become a treasured member of our family. He gets along well with the other two cats and loves to play- he has also learned that it's nice to be petted, and lays in bed with us or sits in our laps. (Quite a difference from the frightened boy who came to us)
Recently, we learned that he had some terrible mouth troubles; he needed to have several teeth removed, and we didn't know how we'd deal with this. We sought out help near and far, did some fundraising- finding that it was just going to be too much for us to pay for. (We are older and are on a very fixed income from Social Security.)
A friend of ours put me in touch with this wonderful foundation, and our prayers were answered! After so many times of being told no, a lovely woman named Carla said yes; Jersey was going to have his mouth cared for, and Alex* was going to help!
I don't have enough words to describe how thankful we are; if we are ever able to help someone else's pet- even in the smallest way- we will pay it forward. A lesson was learned through all of this: that there are still good and kind people, who value the quality of life for animals and their guardians in need. Jersey is only 10- and otherwise very healthy- and as a well-love housecat, will have many, many more years of good health thanks to For the Love of Alex.
When I walked up and seen my baby laying there fighting for his life. No doctor wanted to help him. They wanted me to euthanize him. They told me to give up on him. Then I had one doctor put in the paperwork they could try to save him but they didn’t think I could pay for it. When I say God is good all the time. He answers prayers he heals and he provides. Because they was right, I was jobless with no money, single mother of 3 children who was counting on me to bring their cat back home. Carla called me back n took my case n was so amazing. Words can not express how this woman has a pure heart of gold. She was truly heaven sent. She answered the phone for me, she listen to my crys. But one thing I asked her n she did a u matchless job at it was fight with me because rocket fighting to live. I asked her to have faith with me n believe and she did. Not one time did she complain. Not one time did she say she couldn’t help. Going to the doctor everyday 2-3 times a week for bandage changes. I was getting drained I was tired I thought about giving up but Carla was so amazing she put her foot to the pedal and went all in. For the love of Alex is a amazing organization. I am truly blessed to have come across them. Rocket is now 6 years old n walking running and enjoying life.
We found For the love of Alex and reached out for help because my 11 year old cat was showing signs of stress and I was contacted by a very nice lady the next day. And 3 days later Kitty was being seen by veterinarian at our local clinic. Kitty is doing 100% better and it's with much thanks to The Love Of Alex. Thank you to all of the donors and founders. We are so grateful.
We are having serious financial problems, since my husband was diagnosed with cancer. Our cat Samson needed to have his blood tested for hyperthyroidism, in order to continue his medications. We simply did not have the money to pay the Vet. We googled assistance for Vet payments, and found this organization. We applied, submitted documentation, and they agreed to help us with Samson. They are very personal and caring. Carla called and texted to set up the assistance. She was very kind and professional. We took Sam to the Vet today, and they paid the bill as they promised that they would do. We are EXTREMELY grateful to them. This organization is totally legitimate and helpful.
OMG I need 11 stars for these folks. They SAVED THE DAY, and a life. And they were SO patient! I rescued an abused cat (3-4 y/o) with a throat wound (huge hole) and weighing about 4-5 lbs. Long story short, he had beyond severe stomatitis & it hurt him like hell to eat much of anything. It was either surgery or euth. Fundraising is not for the weak of heart, let me tell you! Among all the rejections for help I got (and I DO understand not everyone can help), ForTheLoveOfAlex stepped in and I thought they'd be doing what friends/acquaintances had been doing and adding a piece of the puzzle that the fundraising was for my little kiddo's surgery, I mean I know many are overwhelmed w/requests, but as they didn't mention an amount, I asked, so I could note my records and see how much more I needed to raise, and I was just told "We'll cover the whole thing". This is without them knowing at first that I had already secured a couple of hundred (I mentioned it afterward). I was floored. I had to ask again because about $1500 is a LOT of money. They effectively made it possible to end my fundraising efforts, as I'd been sleeping about 2-4 hours per day trying to contact people for help. Even more, the day of the surgery, when one of the other parties failed to respond in time for me to be able to take my kiddo home after surgery, they immediately stepped in and saved the day (again!) by assuming an amount higher than what had been previously discussed. Totally made it possible for the surgery to take place and now this kiddo has a full and painless chance at life! His attitude is all different, you should've seen the face he made when he took his first bite and realized food didn't hurt anymore... you get 10 points if you guess how much I cried. Thank you, Carla, for your patience (I know it took a longer-than-expected time to get TO the surgery date), you are NOT from this Earth! I love you guys from the bottom of my fur-filled heart!!!!
My kitty Cream was diagnosed with necrosis (bone degeneration) of both his hips. He was unable to properly walk or move and was in much pain. For the Love of Alex is the only reason we were able to get his life changing surgery. They helped us by covering most all of the cost of a double hip replacement. He has since made a full recovery and is back to walking, running, jumping, and loving a pain free life. This was the blessing of a lifetime, I am forever grateful to and amazed by this incredible organization. They were there for us every step of the way, and their kindness will be cherished for life. Thank you so, so much to everyone at For the Love of Alex.

When researching non-profits I found FTLOA whose mission matched my personal goals as well as meeting my credibility requirements. Unlike others I had given to, FTLOA is a small group providing personalized help to the pets and owners they serve. Their program manager knows the pets and owners and donors by name. The key thing that differentiates FTLOA from others is that they consistently review their processes to ensure they are using best practices in all areas of their service delivery. They are open and welcoming to new ideas and actually follow through in a timely manner. My Sheba The Wonder Cat decided she wanted to help several kitties with a matching fund campaign. Bing bang boom! It was created, online and met the match in less than a week. Since I became a donor two years ago I have found them to be ethical and loyal to their mission and those they serve. I feel they are making the most of my donations and that makes me feel great!
I can’t thank this organization enough for help our Bonfire. Bonfire had to have a tooth extraction which with both my wife and I after my father in law’s passing were not financially capable of paying for huge expense. We spent many nights trying to figure out how to afford food on the table and get Bonfire back to healthy. Thank god for “For The Love of Alex Inc” for saving us from a terrible situation and giving Bonfire her smile or bloop back.

It is an awful reality to have your fur baby sick by your side and you're late at night with many opened tabs: comparing vet costs, filling out for care credits, recalculating personal budgets and actually looking up the much dreaded euthanasia as the worst case scenario option. FTLOA was on a list of nonprofits that I found and not the only one I filled out an application for -- but it was the only org who had let me know they could help, with so much action-based compassion that to this day, exceeded my expectations. I remember putting in the pre-app on a Thursday after taking my cat Moomoo for initial diagnostics and medication for a huge abdominal lump that came on and ruptured out of nowhere, and then next thing I know, I was invited to fill out the 2nd app on the following Monday that includes uploading proof of my financial situation. About an hour later after 2nd app submission, Carla from FTLOA reached out and let me know FTLOA will take on Moomoo's case. My family and I finally cried some tears of relief - instead of hopelessness - that day.
Carla from FTLOA was / is there for Moomoo and me every step of the way, always so quick to respond via text or phone call to help me with the next steps for Moomoo's care and checking in on Moomoo in general. If it weren't for FTLOA, I would have had to take a wait and see approach, not being able to afford more diagnostics or surgery for Moomoo's condition on my own and never really having a peace of mind. Luckily, my cat's condition did not need a surgery in the end, thanks to funds from the donors of FTLOA covering the additional diagnostics and medication.
I love that it is also in FTLOA's mission to have donors get to know every pet helped: there is so much love all around. Seeing the shares and reading people's comments for Moomoo on Facebook or the donor's wall really shows that people do care. Thank you team at FTLOA and donors of FTLOA for being there for Moomoo and trusting our bond: it will forever mean the world to us. When I personally am no longer in the financial bind that I am in, I look forward to being part of the FTLOA donor community. I trust the team at FTLOA -- with their incredible compassion and the quick mobilization of resources -- will continue to bring hope to many low-income fur parents and companions, for decades to come.
Forever with gratitude,
Moomoo's Mom
If it had not been for The Love of Alex we probably would not have our sweet boy Pumpkin with us. He was hiding, not playing, and shaking every time he went to use the litter box. He became very drowsy and then even vomited. We took him to an emergency vet and found out he had a complete urethral and bladder blockage. He needed urgent care and we did not have the funds for this. We live paycheck to paycheck like a lot of families. For the Love Alex responded very quickly and they are so kind. They kept in touch with us the whole hospital stay as well. They truly care about the pets and understand that they are a part of your family. We are so grateful for this organization and their quick caring response.
This nonprofit organization was absolutely life saving. After leaving an abusive relationship and managing to get myself, my sons, and our cat Sophie out of the house we had to mov back to my parents. I was short on money because my abuser took everything I had… shortly after we moved here my baby girl Sophie developed an Aural Hematoma. She was completely the opposite of her usual self. After a visit to a vet and a very pricey estimate I cried in the vet office. When I got home I did some research with the help of a local animal shelter and found For the Love of Alex. This organization has forever changed our lives for the better. Even after the first surgery went wrong they helped me to get her the second one. After a lot of recovery time and vet visits she is finally back to herself. And I owe it all to this organization. Thank you Carla and everyone at the Love of Alex Foundation! You truly have made my family complete again.
I was born with a rare disease that has caused me to be disabled and leave my corporate job. My parents both have passed away and my father died suddenly in my arms in September 16, 2021. I inherited my dad's hounds Maggie and Sally. I had to apply for disability and have been waiting since November 2021. I'm surviving on renting a bedroom out and still put my hounds first they are my emotional support animals. They are both 11 Maggie is a bluetick hound and Sally is a red tick/birddog but they had to have emergency dental surgery and I couldn't afford it. I reached out and A Love For Alex paid for my girls and they are back to there goofy selfs. Thanks so much for everything that you do.
My cat had a massive cancerous tumor on his back. We had biopsies and CT scans done and determined it to be a Sarcoma and was given a bleak future if I couldn't pay for his surgery and all of his care. I was devistated, I wasn't ready to say good bye to my Little Guy who hadn't even seen his 5th birthday. I contacted For the Love of Alex for help and the accepted us! Today it has been only a month since his surgery and he is living cancer free!
Carla and all of the donors at For the Love of Alex are our angels on earth for giving Little Guy a second chance to live. Carla was with us through every step of his surgery before and after checking on him daily, it was amazing. We appreciate all of you and For the Love of Alex.
Hi I would like to start with a few scientific facts about the benefits of having pets. It is proven that people who own pets live longer, have less stress, are more active, and heal faster after surgery. There are many more but the last fact holds a greater importance to our situation. My daughter was diagnosed with severe scoliosis 2yrs ago and after a lot of consideration we decided it was the perfect time to let her foster two kittens. Suddenly her overall mood improved with physical therapy and having to use a back brace 18hrs a day. In a matter of days it was clear we were foster fails. Yubari was Annie's soul cat, their bond is magical and he knows when she needs extra attention with cuddling next to her or a laugh by him being a goof ball. Annie will be getting a major surgery and we know Yubari will have a critical role to play in her recovery.
Then I woke up one morning to find a very sick Yubari. His bladder was completely blocked and I knew this was bad. Every vet I called wanted tons of money just to bring him in. How was I going to tell my daughter we had to put her cat down? She would find out veterinary care could have saved him but the cost was simply too much. I started looking for any other options and I had to do it fast because Yubari was in pain. Then I found For the Love of Alex. I filled out the app and called leaving a heartbroken message. Within a few minutes Carla called, she got the name of the vet, and I raced Yubari over. After days at the veterinarian Yubari is back home. It took a little while for him to recover but Annie was right there with him...it was her turn to help him feel better.
No one should have to euthanize a pet when veterinary care can provide a healthy outcome. Unfortunately this is a sad fact that happens every day. For the Love of Alex is literally saving the life's of beloved pets. I encourage everyone who has the ability to donate to please consider For the Love of Alex. Even five dollars is helpful and you can pick the pet you want to help or give to future pets in crisis. I will be forever thankful to For the Love of Alex, they saved Yubari and Annie's heart.
I am Gimpy's mom, if you have seen FTLOA's posts. She is the sweetest little girl, who needed an amputation, her back leg was broken when she was given to me.
I had been resplinting her leg for a year because I could not afford the surgery she needed.
It was to the point I would sit and sob my eyes out imagining the day where I'd have to give her up, because I couldnt afford her care... but then I found FTLOA. I was approved and had a vet appointment for the NEXT DAY. They paid everything in FULL, and I still tear up thinking about it. They SAVED MY GIRLS LIFE.
This organization is an absolute godsend. My little girl got the help she needed, and she runs like its nobodys business! My sweet little Gimpy girl will live out the rest of her life with her mama and daddy. We are so so grateful for FTLOA.
I want to reach out to all those people who don't know angels for pets exist. For the Love of Alex came to my recuse.
I'm a 74 year old lady who went out my back door one day recently and discovered a small dog tied to my step railing by chain and collar. The unknown party left food and water, a bag of dog food, treats and a couple toys. OMG I thought.. what on earth is going on.. not sure of all the happenings around this senerio at that time. I took the dog into my home.
The dog was extremely matted, and dirty.
One if my grandchildren gave him a bath..but couldn't do much because of the matting... so took to a local groomers as soon as possible. Only to see and hear bad news from the groomers at pickup time. The groomers showed me a hugh tumor under his neck. Oh my I couldn't believe the size of this thing. The groomer referred me to her vet to get an opinion of what to do next. I took him to the vets at a cost to me of close to $200... and had just paid $77 for grooming. I'm retired ,on a limited income, and also trying to support 2 teenage grandchildren. The vet gave me the bad news, then I was shocked at the surgery estimate to be little over $800..
I became quite emotionally. The surgery needed to be done very soon. This little boy was such a sweet, well mannered little fellow and had become part of our family in these few short weeks. I just couldn't agree to being put to sleep...nor did I know how I was going to be able to come up with that kind of money for his surgery in 2 weeks. As was suggested, I spent the next 3-4 days searching for help, calling, waiting on return calls, and filing applications for help. Finally, For the Love of Alex reached out to help me as well as another source. Between the 2 of these wonderful non-profit organizations covered all the expenses. The surgery was done and our little fellow has recovered beautiful. Such a happy fellow, such a happy family that we were there for him and that people like For the Love of Alex were such a big part in helping to give our new pet another chance at life. Love you guys so much for all you did and even continued to check in from time to time to be updated on his recovery. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts
These people are angels walking on earth. They saved my bff Max aka Mr.Pants after he snuck out and didn't come home for the night.
I was crying and so worried and couldn't sleep because it was cold and I felt in my heart he wasn't ok. The next day he came home and his face was so bloody I couldn't even see what happened and his mouth looked stuck open like he was panting. He had a fever and was soiled and dirty. We called the only emergency vet around and rushed him there. After x-rays and blood work they gave him medicine and informed me he jaw was fractured in 2 places and would die without surgery. My daughter was due to go back to college that day...she's the first one in my whole family to go. I took the envelope I had saved for her tuition and payed almost $700 for the first visit. Before leaving I got the next estimate to sedate Max and fix his poor face. He needed the bottom jaw wired and teeth pulled. The vet said this was likely caused my a cow or horse ....none of them live nearby. Or a person. We came up with the concussion it could have been a deer because when I went out every hour looking for him I did see them laying near the edge of our property.
Either way the next bill was for a little over $2,000.00. I am a single mom and I work hard but it's hard . .money is already tight. My daughter found this website and asked is she can fill it out. I said of course (in the vet office waiting for them to bring me my buddy). Immediately we received a email that there was no funding at this time and my heart sank. What am I going to do is all I kept thinking. I got denied for care credit, I even asked the vet if they did payments , they don't. If there was a good Samaritan fund, there isn't. I texted a few of my friends asking for help and we are all having a tough time. I told the vet to make the appointment and I would cancel if I had to.
I brought max home and let him rest while I brought my daughter back to school. When I came home hours later I had a email that was asking for more information, which I provided. I was exhausted from crying and ended up falling asleep in my bathroom with Max. When I got up I had to get him ready to go for the appointment. On my way there I got a call that I missed. Then a text to call them back.
When I talked to Carla she sounded as upset as I was. I told her I'm on my way to the vet but have to talk to them about their financial policy. She was like talking to a friend or a family member. So so so nice and kind because I was kind of freaking out. She stepped in , this foundation stepped in and helped me save max. He would have died without the surgery and I would be financially worse than I am.
Even after his surgery she has texted me every few days asking if he's ok and I send them all pictures of his progress. Without this foundation I wouldn't have been able to do it especially just her support and caring demeanor. She deserves a award and I'm sure has a lot of food kitty karma. Max is going to be ok! And everytime I look into his face he knows he was saved by people like you that take the time and donate even a few dollars could save someone's companion, family member and friend like Max is to me.
I am forever grateful.
We adopted our cat Gizmo when he was a kitten, and as he got older, the vet informed us that he had patellar hyperplasia in both knees, and it would get progressively worse as he got older. This condition could lead to arthritis, and long term pain medication use as it progressed. The vets office gave us the quote, and it was very intimidating (to say the least!). We were at a loss for what to do, as we really couldn’t afford the surgery at this time. I was told by a friend that often times rainy day funds or non profits will help, so I started my search, and I found For The Love of Alex. I went through the application process, and shortly after, I received a call from this amazing non-profit, informing me that they would help us with over half of the surgery quote. I actually got off the phone with them and cried, I was so happy and relieved that our boy could get his surgery. We scheduled it, and Gizmo got his surgery! The vet said it went smoothly - we picked him up the day after, and it ended up being less than the original quote, which was also a relief! He was cage bound and wore the cone of shame for about two weeks, then his stitches came out and he could ditch the cone of shame (he was very thankful for that!!). The vet was impressed with how he was healing, but they said he needed cage rest for another 3 weeks. We just went in for his final check up today, and the vet said he is doing fantastic, has healed so well, and is free to be a cat again! I am so overjoyed that he is better now, and will have a happy pain free life!! I cannot thank the wonderful individuals at For The Love of Alex enough for all of their help and support through this process, they helped change Gizmo’s life ❤️. Thank you so much, For The Love of Alex Team ❤️.
I am sooo glad that, "For the Love of Alex", came into my life when it did. My 1/2 Siamese and 1/2 Persian 8 1/2 year old Munchkin kitty named Willow started having problems urinating. She started urinating all over the house so I ended up taking her to the vet and they said she had a UTI and gave her a shot, did some blood work and sent her on her way. Well needless to say I got a phone call stating she had high Calcium levels and that she needed to see a specialized doctor for this. I then took her to my main vet and they said it could be cancer due to elevated Calcium levels and told me I had to get an x-ray and come to find out she had a large bladder stone. The high Calcium levels are just something that Willow has but not cancer. The vet put her on a specialized diet and gave her a shot to combat the bacteria that the stone was causing. I was told to wait 30 days to see if it would dissolve which it did not. I brought her back and they gave her another shot for the bacteria and to come back in 21 days. Willow and I showed up at the vet and re-did her x-ray which still showed the stone. She was then put on the schedule for pretests to make sure she was healthy enough for surgery. She passed! A week later I whisked her away to the vet for surgery and mid afternoon the vet tech called and said that there were two stones lodged in her ureathra and they didn't know if they were going to get them out and may have to put her down. With many prayers I got the call that the surgery was successful, however, due to how extensive the surgery was they were going to keep her overnight to monitor. I was able to pick her up and she is doing amazing. If it wasn't for the kindness and generosity of, "For the Love of Alex", I would of lost my furry child Willow. I live on very limited means and she is the world to me and I will never be able to say , "Thank You", enough for everything they have done for Willow and I. Absolutely amazing people.
I am so very grateful to have been referred to such an amazing organization! Long story short, my partner and I took in two young, very obvious house cats that were sadly dropped off at a local park. They were so friendly and came up crying and rubbing on my partners leg so wanting to make sure they didn’t end up trustingly approaching the wrong human decided we would give them a permanent home. We noticed fairly shortly after that one of them, Mango, had a lump in her chest and labored breathing so we mentioned it to the vet when we took them in for their first health check. After doing X-Rays the vet informed us that she had serious trauma due to being hit by a car or being kicked really hard which has resulted in a diaphragm hernia that was causing her intestines to push up into her lung. Without surgery there was no telling how long she had to live so we knew we needed to act fast. I reached out to several charities and one was willing to cover $300 but at the very low end this surgery was going to cost at least $3000. With the current situation a lot of us are in due to the economy it was highly unlikely we could even save a sufficient amount in a realistic amount of time so I continued to reach out to charities. I was referred to For The Love Of Alex and really wasn’t expecting much help at this point but was graciously surprised. They were everything I could’ve hoped for. They were so very kind and cared so much for the sole purpose of helping an innocent being get to live out a full, happy life. They covered the estimated costs and when it ended up costing an exponentially higher amount they didn’t even bat an eye, they just wanted to help. I even got a phone call from the overnight emergency hospital she was staying at telling me how this charity had to be the nicest charity they had worked with. They checked in often to make sure she was doing fine with her recovery and offer ideas on ways to make it smoother for her and I. Mango is doing amazing and her vet now calls her my miracle kitty. My family is so happy to know that she has the opportunity to live out her best life. I just can’t express enough how thankful I am to have found them!
I brought my cat in into The hospital because he seemed like he was in a lot of pain. I quickly found out that he had a urinary blockage and was being told that he didn’t have much longer if he didn’t have an operation ASAP. I couldn’t afford it, and was getting denied by every single payment plan I tried. i was starting to lose hope when my aunt found an organization called For the Love of Alex who was willing to pay what was needed in order for my cat to be safe and healthy. it is now exactly one week after the incident and I still cannot find the words to explain how grateful I am for them. If it were not for them, I would have lost someone who means more to me than anything in the world. thank you so much for everything you have done for me.
I had a little baby girl named Precious. Precious was around 19ish months old when she passed and was still so small waighing in at only 3.5 lbs. We found her outside of town with a broken pelvis and quickly fell in love. Precious was special needs... she had no soft palate.. as well as other things in the back of her throat that didn't form correctly. She lived and played and thrived for about 17 months before she started getting infections we couldn't get rid of. We loved her so so so much I began looking for help. I contacted about two different places who turned her down. Then FINALLY For The Love of Alex accepted her immediately. We got her in to be sedated and get a good look to see what they cpukd do to help and the veterinarian here suggested euthanasia. I didn't want to give up there. I reached out to places all over the world to find d someone to help Precious and we found a veterinary teaching hospital that thought they could help. I scheduled the appointment and Precious's infection got super bad. She spent a night hospitalized on breathing treatments and IV antibiotics and was doing really really good when she came home... but for some reason... the infection came back fast and hard and made it to her brain. . . Precious never made it to her appointment.
For The Love of Alex stepped up and helped any way they could. They even covered the arrangements when Precious passed away. Had it not been for this amazing Non profit organization I never would have even been able to afford to fight for Precious. I feel like I owe them the world it is amazing to see people from all over the world come together with donations to help fur babies when they need it!
I will never forget the love and care my Precious baby got from For The Love of Alex.
Precious didn't have long on this earth but she was loved ... by anyone who met her or even saw a picture of her. And she had a fighting chance due to this organization.
Preshy I'll love you forever baby girl.. till we meet again!
I don’t know what I would have done without the amazingly generous help from Love Of Alex! I initially brought my 9-year-old cat, John, to the vet because he was biting his own stomach to the point of developing open sores. During this visit, my vet diagnosed him with periodontal disease with resorptive lesions. He required dental abstraction of three teeth. When the vet showed me the inside of his mouth, it was very clear that he must have been in a lot of pain and probably for quite some time. His stomach biting was likely an attempt to soothe that pain.
Not only did he need oral surgery, but the medication prescribed to him for his stomach biting had to be specially compounded for him and was quite expensive.
Although I was working when I agreed to become John’s mom 7 years ago, in the past few years, my disabilities worsened, and currently, my only income is a fixed monthly disability payment. I could not afford the anticipated cost of his surgery from my small monthly income. Nor could I reasonably afford the minimum payments and interest rates for various medical loans and credit cards.
I was devastated. Every hour that went by, I knew he was suffering, and I was a nervous wreck trying to figure out how to get him medical attention and alleviate his pain while still being able to pay my other bills. But John is so important to me and such a good baby, I had to try every avenue I could think of to help him.
I spent days applying to as many places as possible, seeking financial help. While I was able to secure two smaller grants, the balance for the entire bill was still out of my range.
Carla from Love Of Alex reached out to me. We spoke, and she was so nice and understanding. When she told me that Love Of Alex would pay the balance, not only for the surgery but for the expensive medication he needed as well, I cried with relief and happiness.
Because of the generous grant from Love Of Alex, I was able to get John in for surgery on August 10th. John hates to be in the car and was terrified of what was happening to him. But later that night, when I picked him up and was driving him back home, I could already tell he was so happy. And he’s continued to be happy in the days since. He really seems like a weight has been lifted off of him (even though he’s still quite a chunky baby). He never leaves my side now.
Carla has continued to inquire about John's recovery, and I really appreciate that kind of caring communication.
The help that they offered was one of the most generous, kind, humane things I’ve ever experienced in my life.
Thank you so much For The Love Of Alex!
Our lives are so much better ever since we contacted 'For the Love of Alex'. You are all Angels answering our prayers! They were so compassionate about our situation with Finn, our kitten with painful entropion eyes and necrotic eye tissue that would have caused him to go blind. We were so stressed, already heartbroken by our other beloved cat passing away recently, and financially overwhelmed.
I found 'For the Love of Alex' online and as soon as we submitted our application, this wonderful and caring group immediately started helping us.
I was a stressed out kitty mama and 'For the Love of Alex' Group really helped me feel like we can get through this. And we did!!! Carla is such a sweet heart and works diligently to make sure everything was going well.
We were finally able to schedule Finn's surgery appointment and right before his surgery, they paid for the whole thing! We couldn't have done that ourselves but 'FTLOA' made it happen.
They even kept in contact after Finn's surgery, while he was recuperating, helping us get through it along the way. It was very comforting to know they cared, letting us feel like we weren't alone going through this stressful time.
Finn is now a perfectly healthy, big floppy boy! He's so loving and grateful to be pain-free and not wearing his collar anymore. LOL All thanks to 'For the Love of Alex'!!!
This experience taught me that there really are wonderful and caring organizations that truly do help people and their beloved fur babies in desperate need.
To us, we received a beautiful gift from this non-profit group and will always cherish this experience. I believe in paying this experience forward, and when we can help others, we will share the love bestowed upon us by 'FTLOA'.
Btw Finn is turning 1 yr old tomorrow (8.14.2022).
Miko, our 6 -year-old orange tabby, was diagnosed with feline idiopathic cystitis about three years ago. One day he got sick and I rushed him to the vet's office. They told me his bladder was obstructed and they had to do emergency surgery to unblock him. When an obstruction happens, the cat can't urinate and they become sick. It's an emergency and if not treated the cat will suffer and die within 24 hours or less.
Miko spent a few nights being monitored but he made it through and we got to bring him home. The vet told me he needed to be on a prescription diet. At the time, I didn't understand just how important this prescription diet was so at first I gave it to him but it got too expensive so I resumed his regular cat food.
A few months ago, Miko showed the same symptoms as before and I rushed him to the veterinarian once again. They told me he was blocked again and this time his condition was explained better so I understood that he becomes blocked because of struvite crystals. I understood that the prescription diet food that he has to take for life, is important because it helps break down these crystals and provides a healthy Urinary PH level as well as restricts certain mineral levels . A prescription diet specifically for Mikos condition is necessary for him to remain on for life so it reduces the chances of him becoming blocked again. The problem is that this prescription food is so expensive.
I'm a single full-time parent on assistance. I'm unable to work due to an accident I was in years ago. I had no idea what to do because my daughter and I didn't want to lose Miko as he brings us so much happiness and he is part of our family. He's full of mischief and personality while loving and I know he has a lot of life left in him . I want to give him the best life that I can.
I reached out to several different places and finally , after being turned down by other places, I found For The Love of Alex and told them our story. Finally , someone heard me and listened to Our story and recognized how much we needed help. It felt like someone cared and a huge weight was lifted. I had hope again. Everyone has been more than helpful and kind to us and we are very grateful for the donors who have helped Miko stay healthy by their contributions that help with his prescription diet. For the Love of Alex is compassionate, personable, understanding, and recognizes that there are animals in need and owners who may need a little help caring for their fur babies when things get tough.
I can't say enough good things about this organization. Carla has been so kind and she has worked with me to find what Miko needed and always is quick to respond if I have a question. My daughter and I are very grateful for the donors as well who have helped us.
I'm happy to say Miko is doing well and is happy.
I am forever grateful to For the Love of Alex and how they helped my pet beagle Mia. Mia is eight years old and had a baseball size tumor on her shoulder which was getting bigger and bigger by the day. It prevented her from walking, playing, jumping and sleeping. Her quality of life was really affected by this massive tumor. At night she couldn't get comfortable in her bed or even laying on the floor. It was heartbreaking! I took her to the vet and was informed that the surgery would cost over $2000 to remove the tumor. I was blind sighted by this and on my income, I knew that there was no conceivable way for me to pay for this. I contacted different organizations, vet hospitals to see if they would help Mia. I was desperate at this point and was praying that by some miracle someone would offer assistance. As luck would have it, I submitted my application with pictures to For the Love of Alex and was almost immediately contacted by Carla. I was so humbled and relieved that they offered to pay entirely for Mia's surgery. Mia's s surgery was successful and she is back to being the fun loving beagle who loves to play and go to the dog park. From that very first phone call all the way up to the surgery For the Love of Alex has been so very helpful and compassionate. I can never thank them enough for helping my precious Mia. They have been a Godsend to Mia! For the Love of Alex is an amazing organization and I would recommend them a 1000%. Their mission to help animals in time of need is to be commended. I applaud their tireless work!
For the love of Alex is such an amazing group! My kitty Olive had periodontal disease and needed some teeth removed. I go to school full-time and wasn’t able to cover the bill, every other organization turned me away but for the love of Alex offered to cover the whole surgery! They were super kind and I can’t thank them enough!
For the love of Alex saved my baby Bakugo. He is very mischievous and gets into everything. He found himself on the wrong side of mischief when he had swallowed a string. I didn’t notice and it had gotten caught under his tongue. Because of this his was throwing up nonstop and wasn’t eating. He was so unwell that I could feel his body heat rising through his toe beans and ears. The first visit to the vet sent him home with nausea meds that did nothing. I had used the small savings I did have on that first visit but he kept throwing up. He wasn’t drinking or eating still and his body temperature was still very warm. I got in contact with FTLOA. They responded almost immediately and the very next day I was receiving help from them. Bakugo was able to get emergency surgery because he wasn’t able to pass the string on his own after being dislodged from under his tongue. Now he is thriving and mischievous but under extreme surveillance. My baby is only 6 months old and without FTLOA, the vets said he would have died. They have been a blessing.
The love for Alex Inc saved this little kittens life. I found him crying, arm lacerated down to the muscle and tendons. This poor baby didn't stand a chance and I currently have a cat with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy that drained what savings I had back in April. I reached out to numerous shelters, rescues, and charities and thankfully, they were able to help. Ethan is doing great and eternally grateful for saving his life.
A few months ago I found out that my cat, Peru, had cancer in her ear. The only option to save her life was to have total ear canal ablation surgery which costs around $4000. Unable to afford the surgery I was feeling hopeless. I began to apply for grants and after applying for funds from For the Love of Alex, my hope was restored. They contacted me almost immediately and were friendly and supportive throughout Peru’s cancer journey. Without their help Peru would not have been able to beat cancer.
My lil boy Kilo was dying, I got him neutered and then a few days later his urethra got clogged and his bladder split open. I didn't have the money to pay for his surgery or his care, due to losing my job due to some serious health problems myself. For the live of Alex was my shinning star, if it wasn't for them Kilo would not be alive today. On July 3rd 2021 I had a grand Mal Seizure, kilo ran downstairs to got my daughter to come upstairs by running back and forth she gave me CPR until the ambulance got here. Kilo saved my life. And The live of Alex saved his. They helped with his meds, his special RX food and special litter. There is no words that could even come close to how much they mean to me for helping us. Kilo is such a loving kitty and he is loved so much and it's nice to know there's ppl out there that are willing to help pets in need. Thank you guys so much
It's all thanks to For the Love of Alex that my beautiful cat was not only able to get the PME he needed to treat stomatitis but also to ensure that he does not have cancer! They stayed so involved, checking on his progress before, during, and after surgery. FTLOA helped with any concerns I had, helped me through the application process and any technical difficulties, and was able to get me an answer quickly on if they could cover his medical expenses. I could not be more grateful. Thank you to For the Love of Alex for giving me the option to save my furbaby instead of putting him over the rainbow bridge.

We were so happy to help you both. We wish you both a happy, healthy life together.
Nubins at 5 wks old snuck under my wheelchair and got hurt and couldn't use her back legs. I'm disabled and had no money to take her to the vet.
Thankfully FTLA paid for the vet, x-rays and meds and we found out nothing was broken that he could see. It is possible there is damage to her growth plates but only time will tell. She is doing great and playing up a storm with her brother.

We are so happy that Nubbins is on the mend. Such a precious baby. Thank you for sharing.
My lily baby lily was diagnosed with bladder stones. We have some extremely expensive vet bills. And looking at a very expensive surgery if diet didn’t dissolve the stones. We found for the love of Alex and applied. Thankfully we were accepted. Lily was only 1 year 2 months. She is the sweetest girl I’ve ever had.
I have been unemployed since pandemic started and living on unemployment. I’ve had two major surgeries, joint replacements in the last two years and missed a lot of work. Lily did need to have her surgery as the diet didn’t work and the stones grew. She is recovering, happy and is loving being on the deck in the sun with me and her sister Rosie. Thank you to for the love of Alex for getting us through.
All my love to all the pet families that are struggling and have found these angels to help.
My name is Gail warnke and for the love of Alex saved my dog, odyssey's life. In January of 2020 odyssey developed a mass next to her vulva, that was bleeding. I took her to the vet to be looked at but the cost of surgery was way to expensive, I was not able to afford to help her because I'm on a fixed income.
In December of 2020, I heard about, for the love of Alex, so I went online and applied for help. The next day I received a email to fill out more information about odyssey and my information. Just a few days later I was accepted, I was so blessed and grateful. The mass on odyssey kept growing bigger and bigger and bleeding and I couldn't help her, my heart was broken. But with the the help from, for the love of Alex, she finally got her surgery and now is on the road to recovery. If it wasn't for the help from, for the love of Alex, I would have lost my best friend years before her time because I could not afford to help her. For the love of Alex saved odyssey's life and mine. I'm so grateful and thankful for all their help. They were by my side through the whole process. I will forever be grateful. I can't thank them enough. I love them for saving odyssey's life, she's all I've got in this world. Thank you so much for your help. God bless for the love of Alex.
I found For The Love Of Alex when I had pretty much lost all hope. Actually, I had found hope, only to watch it slip from my grasp moments later when I realized that, that hope was unaffordable.
In April of 2014 I was blessed with saving the life of a tiny and helpless abandoned kitten, who I bottle fed and hand raised- though I really had no idea what I was doing at the time. Actually he saved my life, as he came at a time when I really needed him the most so, you could say, we saved each other. Him and I muddled through the first few months of his life together, figuring it out one step at a time. It was a really rough start and more often than not, I thought he wasn't going to make it. But 5 months passed and he was thriving, growing, and getting stronger by the day. Then the depression hit. He just stopped dead in his tracks- he lost the will to go on. I reasoned that the best thing for him would be to get him a friend, since he had been alone his whole life, with only me- an inadequate replacement for a playmate. So in December of the same year I rescued Zoey, my little tuxedo. And, if Zico and I had been saving each other's lives that whole time- Zoey came along and saved us both. She brought so much light and life into our home. She was our missing piece. She brought Zico out of his shell, they bonded immediately, and the rest was history. But I knew early on that Zoey had some health issues- she was small for her age and even the first several days I had her she was struggling to use the litter box. At 1 years old she was diagnosed with idiopathic megacolon. The first several years of her life, this disease didn't cause us too many issues. It was manageable with diet, exercise, increased water intake, and mild laxatives. But as she's gotten older, the disease has progressed and so has her suffering. This last year, in particular, her condition really took a turn for the worse. She got to the point where she was only using the litter box about once a week, even while on multiple laxatives and probiotics, and she was in so much pain every time she went. It would take several hours for her to just pass a few hard "rocks", and during that time she would walk around the house and cry in pain, looking at me, begging me to help her, but there was very little I could do other than to comfort her through it, or in the worst case scenarios take her in for enemas- which were only a temporary fix. So in my desperation, I went on an exhaustive search to see if there was any other solution for kitties with megacolon.
Thankfully, after days of digging through veterinary medical journals and making phone calls to local and non local veterinarians, I found out there was hope, in the form of a prescription diet. I was surprised I had never heard of it before, and that no one had mentioned it to me previously, but was so grateful and relieved when I found it. It sounded promising, the scientific research behind it was sound, and the reviews from other owners were reassuring. After discussing it with my veterinarian, we decided it would be the next best step for her, given how she was responding to her current medications and treatment. But it was expensive. And I already had a kitty on a prescription diet. Several years earlier, Zico had suffered a urinary blockage and had to be rushed to the emergency vet. He’s thriving these days, and is a healthy happy guy, but a large part of that is because I continue to feed him his prescription diet regularly and I wasn’t about to sacrifice one cat for the other. I had to find a way to make it work for both of them. However, I am disabled and living on a fixed income. Having two kitties on expensive prescription diets… honestly I had no idea how I was going to pull this off. That being said, I would move mountains for my cats. I wasn’t about to give up so easily.
I managed to scrounge together enough money to buy her first bag of food and start her on it. And it worked wonders for her! The difference in just a few days of having her on the food… It was like a miracle in a bag. So, I started another exhaustive search- this time for financial help. Even if just a little. But I hit dead ends everywhere I turned. I quickly discovered that most of the help out there wasn’t really meant for people in my situation. And I could certainly understand that. There were a lot of animals that were in much more dire need of help than us and, especially these days, funds are limited and money everywhere is tight. By pure chance, or maybe by grace, I stumbled upon FTLOA. I read Alex’s story… and it reminded me so much of what Zico had gone through. I was touched by the story of the founder and how these people carried on her legacy. I felt a sense of hope while I read through the stories of the animals they’ve helped.
So, on a wing and a prayer I filled out the application, not really expecting anything, knowing that our case wasn’t exactly the typical kind. The next morning I woke up to an email from them. When I first saw it, my initial thought was that they were emailing to tell me they couldn’t help me, so I prepared myself for that- But wouldn’t you know, the amazing people at this organization didn’t reject me. They listened to my story. They heard me. They actually cared about us, and they cared about Zoey. When there were dead ends everywhere else, this organization opened their arms and graciously took us in. In the end, they were able to provide 6 months of food for my Zoey, and in turn help me keep providing food for Zico as well. But this goes beyond just helping me keep my cats on prescription diets. Zico and Zoey are my emotional support animals, and they’re my family. The kindness that FTLOA extended to us has such a huge impact on our lives. Not only does it ease so much financial stress, but they gave me hope back. Hope for Zoey’s long term health, and hope that her, and Zico, and I can stay together and live a long, happy, and fulfilling life together. Idiopathic megacolon is a progressive disease that only gets worse with age. But this food so far has been working wonders for her. It can save her health, and quite possibly her life in the long run. I couldn’t have done it without the generosity and kindness of the amazing people at FTLOA. For taking us in, and saying "yes", when there were no other avenues that I could find, for their kindness and generosity, and above all for giving us hope to keep moving forward. Words can’t begin to express how grateful I am to this organization.
Miracles and blessings come in all shapes and sizes. Some are big and incredible, like saving the life of a pet at the last second who’s on the brink of death. Others might come in the form of providing 6 months of food for a constipated kitty on the other side of the country- but no less miraculous. Thank you so much, FTLOA for being our miracle.
The Dude and I are blessed and eternally grateful for the outpouring of love and compassion from For The Love of Alex and their donors. One weekend morning , as I was just waking up, I was petting The Dude and became alarmed when I felt a golf ball sized lump on his left hip area. I pet him several times every day and I was completely stumped as to how such a big lump appeared overnight. The soonest appointment I was able to make was on Monday. Bloodwork and slides were taken from the aspirated fluid to try to determine what caused this lump. The vet thought maybe The Dude had played rough and bumped himself hard into something. He’s less than 3 years old and he does run fast and play hard. The vet said the lump should resolve in about 2 weeks, if it was indeed an injury. All slides and bloodwork came back normal.
Less than a week later the lump had increased to twice the original size. Bloodwork and slides were run again, but still nothing indicating anything abnormal. He was put on Clavacillin to see if it would help reduce the lump. Rather than decrease, the lump had now become the size of a baseball. The vets were stumped and; at the same time, very concerned. The soonest surgery slot available was in a week and I began calling organizations seeking financial assistance. I am disabled and have limited funds and I had used all of the money I had for The Dude’s 4 visits up to this point.
During Covid restrictions it’s been very difficult on fundraising for grants for many organizations and I didn’t think I was going to be able to cover the necessary surgery for The Dude. The Dude had been granted funds that would cover half of his surgery and I was trying to figure out how I could possibly pay the other half. I was beside myself, when I received an email from Abby stating that For The Love of Alex would cover the balance of The Dude’s surgery. It was like the weight of the world was lifted of my shoulders.
The Dude’s surgery was extensive and thankfully the vet was very careful in removing the tumor encased in it’s capsule. The mass was sent for biopsy and the results came back as FISS a malignant fibrosarcoma neoplasm from the Feline Leukemia Vaccinations that were administered just a couple of months prior to the lump appearing. If not for the grant donors that Abby reached out to for a quick surgery date, the vet may not have been able to removed the entire contents of the tumor and it may have metastasized. The vet is confident that all of the mass was surgically removed with precision and The Dude will not have to suffer chemotherapy or radiation treatments.
The Dude is my emotional support animal and we have learned how to support each other with our ailments. The Dude and I are forever grateful to For The Love of Alex and their donors, which without your kind donations the extensive surgery and quick surgery date would not have been possible. Thank you all so very much!

For the Love of Alex saved my best friend. There's not a single person that knows me and doesnt know of Ryder my sweet 2 year old English Bulldog. Shes literally my whole world. I had just used all my savings to get myself away from a bad relationship and into my own home. I was not prepared for the vet bills we acquired. I am also a hairdresser and was out of work a couple of months due to covid-19. My dog was throwing up nonstop and I took her to not one but 2 separate vets until ftloa stepped in and got us to a great vet that discovered Ryder had a blcokage in her small intestine. They covered her medical costs and allowed me to save this beautiful pup. I truly dont have words to describe what this did for my life. Im beyond Grateful they helped us!!!!! I dont know where i would be if it wasnt for their generosity. Thank you . I can continue to have this sweet angel in my life ❤️❤️
I truly appreciate your help. My cat was rushed to the vet hospital and she almost lost her life. She had to stay in the hospital for a period time restoring her vitals. She still needed more care but I couldn't afford to continue. I truly appreciate your help and generosity to help with the expenses. I wish there were more people in the world like you. Thank you Kathy
In 2013 we woke up to find our cat not using one of her back legs. What we ultimately found out was that she had torn her ACL...an injury very uncommon in felines. We took her to a specialist at at the Oregon State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital for a successful surgery. During her recovery I noticed her other leg behaving abnormally. It turns out that ACL failed as well! She went back to the specialist for a much more complicated, but successful surgery. At the time I was in the midst of an internship and my husband was working an entry level job which meant that our funds were limited. I reached out to For The Love Of Alex for assistance and they were so generous. The funds we received eased our burden and allowed us to give our cat the care she needed. Our cat is almost 18 now and still doing well. I believe that the help we received contributed to her success!
For the Love of Alex was amazing! My sweet 18 yo Princess had just been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and had already had a bleeding UTI so she needed more testing and another checkup to see if her meds and course of treatment were working so we'd know how to proceed. After exhausting my resources on her prior appointments, blood & urine tests and her various prescriptions, I didn't have anywhere else to turn. I found For the Love of Alex online and they were one of the few organizations that would cover testing. I messaged them about the situation and didn't get my hopes up but they replied to me the next day! She walked me thru the application process and then they made their decision quick. It was such a relief to know I could get Princess the care she needed. For the Love of Alex paid my vet directly and made it easy which was such a relief during this stressful time. I can't say enough good things about them.
For The Love of Alex is a charity I love to support because they have such compassion for people and their pets. They help families who can't afford the unexpected emergency vet expenses to get their furry family members the care they need, they give hope when hope is hard to find. Many small donations make a big difference in someone's life. They never give up on animals, and my little contribution gets multiplied to help families in ways I can't do on my own.
This handsome boy wouldn't be able to enjoy the sunshine if not for these wonderful people. The vet said he had to have a$5000 operation or he would die. I didn't have the resources, so they drained his bladder, and told me to take him home to say goodbye. For The Love of Alex said, hold up! Not so fast. He doesn't have to die. They gave me advise and offered to help me pay for the special food. I was lucky enough to be able to afford his food, but would have had to watch my boy die if not for the support and education they provided.
A great charity who assists pet parents that are unable to help their beloved pets due to financial constraints.
I reached out to For The Love of Alex to help with my cat's urinary issues. I had already spent all of my savings and care credit trying to safe his life. My three year old cat, Zeus' only chance was a very expensive surgery. For The Love of Alex stepped up and took care of the cost of the surgery. Sadly, Zeus had major complications and despite the efforts of two skilled veterinarians, and this wonderful organization, he was lost to us. My heart is broken, but I am very thankful for their support during this extremely difficult time. At least I know we tried, and my beautiful boy was not lost due to financial concerns. For The Love of Alex was there when I had no one else and I am eternally grateful for their help.
I miss Zeus every day. I take comfort in knowing that he is at peace and there is no more pain, and now I can work on coming to terms with this incredible loss. My heartfelt thanks to For The Love of Alex for being there and for helping provide peace of mind at such a difficult time.
Mere words are not able to express the sheer gratitude that I have towards For The Love Of Alex, Inc. My 1 year old cat became severely sick and she had a fever and was vomiting every 20 minutes and we could not help her get comfortable. Nala would not eat or drink water and laid around the house and was not able to move around by herself. I decided to take her to the animal hospital and after blood work and x-rays it was determined that Nala needed surgery ASAP. I was informed that the surgery would be extremely expensive and I knew that I would not be able to afford it. I applied for Care Credit and was denied and then I considered putting her down and this broke my heart. The animal hospital staff told me about For the Love of Alex, Inc and what their mission was and I decided to apply. I was approved within less than 24 hours and a portion of Nala's surgery and recovery was covered by For the Love of Alex. Upon performing surgery, it was discovered that Nala had a severe case of pancreatitis and extremely constipated. Nala received aggressive post-surgery treatment and care for her condition. I am happy to report that she is recovering extremely well and I owe this miracle to the generosity of For the Love of Alex, Inc. Had it not been for their care, concern and assistance, Nala may not have made it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!
We had already spent 900 dollars of our rent money on diagnosing our beautiful Reef, the calico cat that rescued us 2 years ago when I reached out to For the love of Alex. Reef had diabetes and muscle atrophy.
We were 6 weeks into the Covid crisis, both my husband and myself unemployed all that time, and for noone knows how long, and I really felt hopeless. None of our local resources were taking cases due to quarantine rules. When the angelic voice on the phone said she was with FTLA I couldn't believe it! ( When I emailed them I fully expected to be turned down, simply because of the number of families in need. )They were going to help! Reef had a chance! My prayers were answered by the Angel's. Alex's angels.
Turns out after further tests that I could not have gotten otherwise, that Reef is not only diabetic but she has an old spinal cord injury that is being worsened by muscle atrophy and arthritis. Also turns out she is a senior kitty, between 8 and 12 years old.
Reef really had no chance to live out her years with us without FTLA.
Now we are able to manage both her pain and her diabetes, and she is coming back to herself. Our queen.
There will never be words adequate to communicate our thankfullness, but we will pay it forward in thanks and testimony. Please, even if it's only 5 dollars, give to FTLA when you can. Share their posts. They are the real deal, helping pet families in dire emergency.
APRIL 2020 my kids asked me for a dog so i was looking for a small dog for them that is when I came home with my Leo we all fell in love with him the moment we seen him Leo is very love able and so cute he was following us all around the house a few days after Leo and my son was running down the steps and slide down the last two steps my son did not get hurt but Leo hurt his paw I rushed him to an urgent care that is when they told me he is going to need surgery I cried knowing he was in pain so i searching online to help me pay for his surgery it was to expensive for me every place I called denied me help until I came across For The Love Of Alex I sent an email hopping someone get back to me but I did not stop looking i was not going to stop that next morning my prayers come true For The Love Of Alex sent me an email stating they will help Leo get his Surgery i could not not stop thanking them with tears coming down my face the next day Leo got his surgery now he id recovering and doing great if it wasnt for For The Love Of Alex i would had to turn Leo in they are a blessing to my family and will always be great full for the help the staff was so polite always calling and emailing me on how Leo and the family is doing they are the best
Thank You So Much For The Love Of Alex

When I was told my 11 month old kitten needed extensive testing to determine what causing his illness I felt helpless and overwhelmed. There was no way I could afford to pay that much.
Not only did For the love of Alex cover his testing, they advocated for him to be able to receive his testing during the covid pandemic and worked out all the billing issues we had.
They made it possible to get answers for him and I’ll be forever grateful for their dedication and generosity.
In these uncertain times with the Covid-19 shutting down the nation For The Love Of Alex Inc. has gone above and beyond. 2 of our furbabies began experiencing stones and crystals in their bladders and urinary tracts and we had to rush them both to the vet! Being a single mother on disability is hard but and I found it impossible to to be able to afford this emergency Vet bill. I reached out to The Love Of Alex Inc. fully expecting to be turned away due to the the nation experiencing this pandemic. Much to my surprise The Love Of Alex Inc. soared into action! They are super caring and kind! They answered our prayers! Without them I honestly don't know what we could have done. The Love Of Alex Inc. is a true blessing!
I honestly do not have enough kind things to say about this non-profit. They went completely 109 percent out of their way to help my sick dog. He was sick during the Coronavirus ordeal and they stood by him anyway. This organization is terrific and they actually help who they say they are going to help. Pup Pup and I cannot Thank You all enough. He says he has a bone for you when this Pandemiccis over and he is completely well.

Thank you so much for this review. We love you and Pup Pup!
My baby boy, Georgie, was in desperate need in August, 2019. It was one of the most horrible days I will remember for all time. I took him in because he wasn't eating for a few days, so I knew something wasn't right. They did blood work, that cost me upwards of $600! The next day I got the call that it was indicative of cancer and that an ultrasound would need to be done to determine the type and location. I broke down in tears while driving after getting this news; it was awful. I felt like my heart had been ripped out and I couldn't breathe. That ultrasound quote was $900! I knew I didn't have that kind of money, so I started searching around everywhere I could, it didn't matter. I started a GoFundme, asked for help on Facebook. I called local organizations and shelters to no avail. I came across FTLOA on Facebook and reached out to apply. Abby contacted me and said they weren't sure they could help without a diagnosis, but they wanted to see what they might be able to do. Their process is once a diagnosis is made then they decide if they take on the case and it has to have a positive prognosis. So, already I'm thinking they won't be able to help because there's no diagnosis and if it's cancer it obviously doesn't carry a positive prognosis. I felt hopeless. But Abby got back to me and said FTLOA agreed to take on the cost of the ultrasound for Georgie. I couldn't believe it; I was in shock and so unbelievably grateful I couldn't even think straight. Georgie went in for the ultrasound and the aspirates were extracted and sent into pathology for review. We got the diagnosis back that was indeed cancer, Plasmacytoma. A rare cancer that affects so few cats that only one Oncologist locally could handle this case. Luckily she's not far from where we live. I met with her and even though I was crying and blubbery with her she told me that if a cat was to have cancer this would be the one she'd choose, because it's highly treatable. I asked the prognosis and lifespan, which honestly I was terrified to even hear the words come out of anyone's mouth. She said it's anywhere from 1 to 2 years. She has a rare patient that has just surpassed the 2 year mark. I couldn't believe it, only 2 years or less left with my baby boy. He just turned 10 September 16th, right after his diagnosis was done. I felt cheated, even though I'd had all these wonderful years with him. This cat has a personality larger than life!!! I've had him since he was 2 years old, but I was there when my mom adopted him from SPCA when he was a kitten. He's got more spunk than most cats, he loves dogs, he's highly sociable and follows me around like a dog when I call him. He talks to me with his voice all the time. I couldn't bear the thought of putting him down. That option was presented to me by the last vet who gave me his blood work results. It still doesn't sit well with me, the way that Dr treated Georgie and myself. He told me well, you can opt to put him down if you can't afford the treatment. I said, we don't even know what it is yet, no I'm not putting him down! So, when I met with the awesome Oncologist she laid out the whole treatment plan for me: all the estimates, the chemo, everything. It was a really hard decision to put him on chemo because I was terrified of all the adverse reactions that could happen, I mean come on, it's chemo after all. Humans don't exactly have the best side effects from it. I went back and forth over it, but what made the decision for me was his larger than life quality of life, because that's really all it's about. I would never make an animal suffer just to keep them around for my benefit, nor could I afford the treatment. I opted to go forward with the treatment. I sent over all the info to FTLOA and after a couple days they agreed to take on all of his cancer care. I was floored!!! Just floored!!!! It's the most amazing thing, the kindness of others and what it can do. It's now February 6th, and I still have my baby thanks to FTLOA and the ongoing care of Georgie's Oncologist. It's been almost 6 months since his diagnosis and while I'm scared about his future, I am immensely grateful for all the time I've been awarded because of FTLOA! He's gotten routine blood work and everything is looking good, but this is a result that wouldn't have ever been possible had it not been for all of the members at FTLOA! Georgie is the most amazing cat, and yes, I might be a little bias but I believe this is something all pet owners would say about their own furrbaby. The overwhelming generosity and kindness showed to Georgie and myself in our desperate time of need from FTLOA will NEVER be forgotten! Thank you so much for everything you've done for us.
Fortunately I have never been in a position where I've had to ask for help from For the Love of Alex. However I have been a donor for years because I believe that their mission, what they do, is vitally important for pet families. Having recently dealt with a minor illness with one of my cats, I know that it's stressful enough having a sick or injured pet. Having the addition pressure of finances is too much to bear. For many people that financial burden becomes the ultimate deciding factor in their pets care, well-being, and sometimes their life. No one should have to face that.
For the Love of Alex makes it possible for pet families to stay together - healthy and well! Supporting FTLOA means that we support life an health for families and their pets. If you're considering supporting their organization, please do. They do great work!
No words can describe how grateful I am to this wonderful organization. My dog tito has had ongoing issues with his bladder for as long as I can remember- the last time though he needed surgery and it came at a very bad time as I had just lost my job and was a very stressful time. living in the city surgery and aftercare was more pricey than expected. I reached out and for the love of Alex literally saved my Tito’s life- not only did they take care of surgery they also were there to help me cover the special diet food all the other hiccups in between. With their help I was able to breathe knowing I can properly care for my dog the way he deserves and that we had these guardian angels looking over us. Tito is 1000 times better and I cannot thank them enough.
Thanks again for all your help!
Love, Claire & Tito
I love For The Love of Alex because they help people like me who can't afford big vet bills for their beloved pets. They help in emergencies. They help fast and find the best care for your pet.
If it wasn't For the Love of Alex, my dog, Apache Princess would not have gotten her Life Saving Cancer Surgery. This wonderful non-profit donated 3000 to Apache Princess's Cancer Surgery, giving the balance needed to get her surgery. It really moved quickly once I reached out to For the Love of Alex. She was diagnosed with two soft tissue sarcomas, non-spreadable in fall/winter 2018. One large one on her right side, slow growing. February 2019, the cancer had gotten about the size of a half softball. During an assessment in March 2019 at UT Knoxville, TN the oncologist found a smaller soft tissue sarcoma on her right hind paw. The cancer was curable if caught in time. I'd already lost three dogs to cancers. Apache Princess would have been my fourth. She needed surgery, but I was still a long ways from the amount of money I needed. I had did two crowd funding pages/post, GoFundMe and Facebook. I had applied for assistance with several pet organizations online, only to be declined by some of the biggest one such as Magic Bullet, Riedel/Cody. Mosby Foundation did donate 500, but still almost 3000 short, I was losing hope. Then I joined a pet cancer facebook group and found For the Love of Alex, my prayer answerer. I got an email from Abby she had reviewed my application and thought maybe they could help, she explained it was up to the board, but she sounded hopeful. I thought they may donate 500 to 1000, but when she got back with me, I was amazed, she said they would donate 3000 and to go ahead and schedule my fur baby girl's surgery. This was about April. I called UT, Knoxville and scheduled her surgery the end of May. I had to arrange with work to take off for it. Apache Princess and I left May 22 for the two hour drive to UT, Knoxville for a surgery consultation with a surgeon May 24 and if all went well the surgery would be May 25. After the surgeon examined the cancer lumps. He wanted to do CT scans to make sure he could get as much of the cancer as possible. Then if needed, she would have follow-up radiation. The CT could have been done the 24th, but the surgeon said he could do it the morning of the surgery since she would already be under anesthesia he would do the CT before surgery. Surgery went well, I got to take her home the 26th. She had about a 12 inch incision on her right side with stitches. The paw was too small for stitches so it was wrapped and needed changing every couple of days, which my home vet did for me. The masses were sent to pathology. A few days I got a call from the surgeon with good news. He had gotten all of the cancer from the right side, just a trace of cells left on the paw. To done a larger incision on the paw would have meant reconstructive surgery. We went back June 11th for Apache Princess to have the stitches removed. And on that visit, I got even better news. The cancer was a low grade 1 with only a 10% chance of regrowth on paw. The trace of cancer cells left on paw would die. She needed no follow-up radiation. She had her first recheck September 2019, still cancer free. She goes for another recheck and then two or three more for a year. Apache Princess is doing great. She weighs 62 pounds. Because of For the Love of Alex, I got to spend my second Christmas with her since adopting her. Christmas 2018, wasn't sure if she'd be with me Christmas 2019 because of the cancer lump. Her fur has grown back, she is the same loving happy go lucky fur baby I adopted June 16, 2018. She loves her walks, playing with her toys and laying on the porch when weather allows. After losing three loved fur babies to cancers from 2014 to 2018, I can say with the generous donation from For the Love of Alex, I saved my fur baby.
I have been a cat rescue volunteer for almost 15 years. In that time, I have seen a lot of animals that needed serious medical help. It can be heartbreaking when you don't have the money needed to help innocent lives. our rescue in NC helped a sweet female tuxedo kitten this past year that had a major head tilt from a large inner ear polyp. The diagnostics and surgery to repair the ear was astronomical to a small volunteer organization. We even found a good family for the kitten, but had to ask For the Love of Alex for funds to save little "Sheba". This organization stepped up with speed and grace. They were tuned into the details of our case, and made getting the medical help smooth and efficient. It meant the world to the adopters, the kitten and the volunteers. For the Love of Alex fills a huge need in the rescue and animal lover community. I am so glad to know they are in existence to help the desperate and complicated cases. Good communicators and big hearts!! Thanks so much. Margaret G.
One year ago today we almost lost our sweet puppy.....Wheezy was 8 months old and had a blockage in his intestinal track!! He would have died without surgery and there was no way we could come up with the $2,300 needed. But thanks to For the Love of Alex and all the generous donors of this amazing charity Wheezy was able to get that life saving surgery and we are able to love, spoil, and celebrate him (along with the rest of our mini zoo) every single day!!! There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t thank God for this amazing charity and all the people who make it possible!!! THANK YOU

Thank you for leaving this kind review. We're happy to count Wheezy amount our success stories.
For the Love of Alex is a wonderful organization that does so much to
Help pets in need of medical help. They help the owners who do not have all of the funds needed for test, surgery etc. without them some pet owners would have to have their precious pets euthanized and we don’t want anyone to go thru that. I had to do it one time as my kitty had and incurable lung disease and was suffering so we had no choice but if there is any hope for our pets to recover we must try and For the Love of Alex is always there to help. Please support them with any size donation you can afford. Even small donations can make a difference

Thank you so much for the heartfelt review.
For The Love of Alex helped me try to save my Licorice. Licorice was adopted from a pet store which was showcasing her for a rescue center. She had been there a few weeks and we were just drawn to her. We adopted her in February of 2017. She was such a sweet cat, she loved sleeping on our chests and sitting on our shoulders during the day. She literally watched over us at all times. Then she started losing weight in June of 2018, which turned out to be a tumor. The vet thought they could do surgery and remove the tumor but it was going to cost more than we were able to get. We had care credit and were still short about $2000. I contacted For the Love of Alex and they didn't hesitate to help, because of them Licorice was able to have the surgery. It is sad that she wasn't able to make it out of the surgery, you see, the tumor was too involved at that point. It was literally taking over most of her organs and there was no hope of survival.
While we were going through trying to get help for Licorice to have the surgery, during the surgery, and even afterward For The Love of Alex was there. They checked on us and tried to comfort us afterward. I know that my baby didn't make it, but For The Love of Alex helps so many other babies that do make it. They need our help and our donations so they can continue to help others.
Every dollar helps, even if you can only give $1, please do. I know from experience that it is put to good use. There are other families like mine that need your help and the help of For The Love of Alex!
Our cat Oliver (Ollie) has been having ongoing urinary issues for a little over a month. We took him to his vet and they couldn’t seem to find a for sure answer for us as to why he wasn’t using the litter box and seemed to be straining to go to the bathroom. They had done xrays and urinary infection tests on him that both came back negative for infection and blockage that they could see. Once he started bleeding in his urine in odd places, we took him back and they treated him with antibiotics and steroids. He did well on those for about a week and a half and then he started bleeding in his urine again. His vet recommended we take him to the emergency vet as they were full the day before July 4th. We took him to an emergency vet in Columbia and were told he had a blockage (which we suspected) and that he would need a very pricey surgery to fix it and they would need to keep our baby for several nights. As much as we love our kitty, it was an expense we just could not afford at this time. They recommended For the Love of Alex, an amazing nonprofit group who would possibly allow us to keep our kitty and also pay for his surgery. We applied and were accepted that same night! We are so grateful to this group and after 2 nights in the hospital we were able to take our kitty back home. Unfortunately we did find out he also has a heart murmur and needs treatment for that, too, but he is doing well now after being home and on new medications and a new diet. We are so thankful for people who have hearts for animals like we do! Please share and donate to give this group the opportunity to continue helping animals like our baby Ollie!
I wanted to share my story with all of you and let you know how the organization for the love of Alex has changed my life and my Pedro's life in such an amazingly positive way! On September 10th 2018 I received the best birthday present I have ever and will ever receive!..... I was surprised at my Pedro's oncologist office with the news that for the love of Alex was going to pay for the past outstanding bill and history his treatment going forward!! I remember standing there in shock end in tears, which is not a typical reaction or show of emotions for me! From that point on For the Love of Alex has been there every step of the way.. they've picked up his hospital bills, when I have had to take him on an emergency basis as well as his oncologist doctor visits! Abby who I refer to as an Earth Angel as well as everyone from For the Love of Alex have been so supportive and so compassionate I am still in disbelief how incredibly generous and caring Abby and the people at For the Love of Alex are! waking up in the morning and going to sleep at night it's so much easier knowing that I can dedicate my energy in my life to my Pedro and not have to worry about where I'm going to come up with the money to pay for his treatment as I did for over 2 years! I believe in miracles even more so because of my experience with For the Love of Alex! I am so grateful to the founders and to the people working to help people like myself and little animals like my Pedro! Pedro continues to show his Incredible strength but no doubt Not For the Love of Alex has a lot to do with his resiliency and his strength! Thanks to the organization for the love of Alex Pedro is alive and continues to survive fibrosarcoma cancer! For the Love of Alex is truly a humanitarian and philanthropic organization with no strings attached!! In a world where we hear so much negativity and cruelty and insensitivity.. For the Love of Alex organization restores my faith in human beings and my belief that humans are inherently good! For all of these reasons and many more that I did not mention I give for the love of Alex organization 5 out of 5 stars.. but if I could give more I would I would give them an infinite amount of stars because they're compassion and selflessness transcends Beyond this world!
Just a short time ago I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. My children are grown and living their busy lives. I have always been the hugest animal lover you could ever meet. I came across these 2 small kittens, they said the owner moved and left their mama kitty behind. It broke my heart and I welcomed these 2 kittens into our home. They were covered in fleas and skinny as a rail. With lots of good food and tender loving care these 2 kittens grew fast and we're the sweetest little guys. I have had them for about 2 years. Goose and Maverick my daughter named them. About 3 weeks ago is when the one kitty, Goose started not eating. Hiding, making many trips to the litter box. I had tried some of the home remedies I saw online with no success. Goose was only getting worse. Being's that I have MS, I'm on disability. A fixed income is terribly hard to find extra funds for anything let alone vet bills but he is my fur baby and I love him dearly. Took Goose to the veterinarian and he was diagnosed with crystals in his urine with a possible blockage. They did blood work, urine culture and they explained to me that this is going to be an ongoing problem, that he will be on a prescription diet. I called all kinds of animal orginazations in my area for the need to get his prescription food to help with his crystals. I was unable to pay the bill that day and promised I would. In the meantime I was introduced to For The Love Of Alex organization. I filled out the application and with a day or so got word that they would be able to help Goose and I. I got a call from the vet that Goose had a bladder infection and would need antibiotics. I Picked up his medicine. He still did not want to eat. Day after day Goose was getting weaker and weaker. Everyday I prayed that the antibiotics would finally work, that Goose would begin eating. I have spoke with one of the workers from For the Love of Alex and shared with her my need of financial help with the vet bill and that he needed this prescription food only. He was not aloud to eat anything else. Abby was so thoughtful, kind and caring. Finally I felt maybe there is hope. A few days later, Goose had become so weak he could not even hold his head up. It was a Saturday morning and even though it was the weekend Abby called me back, I had already brought Goose to the vet hospital. The blood work showed that his kidneys were shutting down, he had pancreatitis, high blood sugar. I felt the vet was going to suggest euthanasia. With not a moment to spare Abby called to speak with the vet. The vet informed me that they would begin aggressive treatment on my fur baby, that his condition was guarded and he may still die. The tears of relief and gratitude rolled down my face, that I wouldn't have to say good bye to one of my best friends. Goose was hospitalized for about a week. He was going to make it. I thanked my God and Abby for saving my friend. Today he is on a strict diet, prescribed by the vet which he will be on for the rest of his sweet life. He is becoming like the old Goose I remember, chasing my feral cat and playing with his brother. It feels so great knowing I will have my best friend for many years. I'm beyond grateful that I didn't have to say good bye to my fur baby that Saturday morning.
Thanks to Abby and all the heart felt donations. The best orginazations I've ever known! If only there was more stars, still it wouldn't be enough.
My dog Char'lee got very sick. She stopped eating and drinking and was lethargic. I took her to vet and the bill was really high. I contacted many people for help but no one answered the call. As soon as I thought all hope was gone For The Love Of Alex contacted me. They lady on the phone was very nice and supportive. I will always support this great organization for the rest of my life. Their kindness knows no bounds! Thanks to them the love of my life is sleeping at my feet as I'm writing this review. They deserve ten stars and any amount of donations. Thanks again!!

Thank you so much for this wonderful review. Please give Char'lee an extra hug from us!
This organization quite literally saved my life. My dog Asia is my lifeline. We are best friends and have been by one another’s side every single day since the day she was born- I literally was there and caught her and cleaned her when she was born. We don’t seperate and seeing her in pain makes me physically sick, she is like a child to me but more than that we are best friends, we live for one another. Unfortunately starting at 3 weeks of age Asia got the short end of the stick, the bad luck and mobility issues just continued to worsen and more issues popped up as time went on. Now after one surgery, weeks and weeks and weeks of water treadmill and physical therapy, meds that cost me 400$ per month, shockwave, acupuncture, you name it she’s had it and 15k at least in debt, her ccl became so diseased that it was completely gone and her arthritis so advanced, her knee so diseased all together that she needs a total knee replacement. I am a college student who has already put out a tremendous amount trying to make my girl comfortable and fix her ailments, so another 12k surgery made my heart drop. I knew I couldn’t do it, but how could I not, it’s what she needed? I reached out to a few organizations and FTLOA was one of them, and boy am I so grateful that I did. Abby emailed me within a day and called me later that day. They did not have the means to take on her case whatsoever but they were so empathetic that they still did. She said she would do a fundraiser on Facebook but wasn’t sure if we would reach the goal. Due to their incredible posts, followers, sharing and donors we reached our goal of 8,000$ which exceeded all of our expectations. They emailed me and were genuinely so happy. These people love what they do and love all of the animals they are involved with like their own. They are involved and so passionate about helping families and saving lives. They still keep in touch with me even though her surgery isn’t schedule until Sept and her fundraiser is over- it just shows how much they care. They are so excited for her surgery and are excited to follow her recovery and journey after surgery. Such genuine people and I am so forever grateful to them. Thank you so much FTLOA, I owe you everything.❤️

Thank you for this wonderful review. We are so excited to see Asia do great things!
Odin came to me out of necessity. He was a friendly stray/feral who showed up one day injured and we thought he had been attacked. I trapped him, and brought him in, kept him in quarantine in my bathroom (away from my other cats) until i could get him into a vet to assess his eye damage and get him neutered. After about a week of gentle cleaning a foxtail worked it's way out of his eye. At his vet appointment, they determined he needed to have the eye removed, as it was in danger of rupturing. We are a low income family and a large vet bill was not something we could afford, so I looked for help. Google led me to For The love of Alex, and through their generosity, I now have a happy and healthy boy. They were literally a life saver for this sweet boy and helped me give him a good and normal life. This organization and all its donors are Angel's on earth.

Alex82703 06/25/2019
Thank you, Amanda. We love Odin and look forward to seeing him thrive in your home!
There simply aren’t enough stars for me to really rate how highly I regard For The Love of Alex. The work they do is truly inspiring ... life changing and life saving! Every life matters, every life count. It doesn’t matter how hopeless things might look at first, they work tirelessly to find a way to save that life if at all possible and pay the staggering costs of doing so. So many people are forced to put their dear loved dogs or cats to sleep because they have no way of paying the exorbitant vet bills it would take to heal them. For The Love of Alex offers hope that wouldn’t otherwise be possible. My Kiki is my whole world, my life. If I couldn’t afford to save her because of the cost, I would run to FTLOA for help and the hope they bring.

Thank you for your warm comments and support. It is only because of supportive Angels like you that we are able to help these pets.
An orange kitty started showing up at our house one morning and never left. I'd feed him, love him, and let him be on his merry way; but one morning the kitty was still on my porch from the night before and didn't come to greet me with his usual chirps and purs. As a matter of fact, he couldn't even lift his head and seemed lifeless.
I rushed him to the vet's office to find out he had a urinary blockage and his kidneys were shutting down. The kitty was going into a coma and without immediate treatment, he wouldn't make it through the night.
I had grown very attached to this orange kitty over the months. More so than even I had realized, because when the first vet bill of over $1000 was given, I didn't even blink an eye. I wanted this kitty to live and I'd do whatever it took.
The orange kitty -that had melted my heart- did make it through the night, but he was on several medications and had to be monitored hourly which meant he lived at the vet for almost two weeks.
The bills became overwhelming, and I was at the point where I could no longer afford for his care. Devastated and desperate I tried every avenue I could think of with little to no help.
That is, until I found For The Love of Alex. They contacted me soon after my application was sent and actually LISTENED to this stray's story. They had compassion and care, as well as the resources and funding to keep this kitty alive.
For The Love of Alex helped continue with his care long after expected. They checked in on him and myself to see how we were doing. They did research about his issues and came up with alternative ideas when what we were doing wasn't working. They found specialist when our vet no longer had answers. They found precious time when everyone else was too busy to listen.
I could go on and on about For The Love of Alex, but at the end of the day, I really can't even begin to put into words what this organization has done and means to me. I mean, how do you review how much a life means to you and the people that chose to help that life go on?
All I know is, because of For The Love Of Alex, my Burrito Kitty, formly known as the orange stray, got a second chance at life and a family to call his furever home. For that, I am forever grateful.

Alex82703 06/24/2019
Thank you for this beautiful review. We love Burrito Kitty so much.
I haven't had the privilege of having this organization help me with one of my fur babies, but I HAVE had the opportunity to help many other sweet fur babies get the help they need and pay for their medical bills. I can't imagine what it would be like, not having this great organization available for those who need it! Keep going strong, For the Love of Alex!
This is one of the most remarkable animal welfare charities for what they do. Their mission is to help animals get the medical care they need when their owner/family are unable to afford the cost themselves. I understand that they rely solely on donations from the public in order to do this and turn no animal away unless they are so heavily burdened with cases that they literally struggle to meet the financial demand. I “met” this group on Facebook quite some time ago and at first just followed some of their stories, but as my interest in animal welfare grew, I felt drawn to this organisation more and more, following every story, praying for the precious lives they provide care for and have also started giving when I’m able to.
I know that they are terribly overburdened at the moment and have had to temporarily close their casebook until the current financial commitment has been largely covered. I’m an Australian and give to them whenever I can - that’s how highly I regard them. Please, if you have a heart for animals in need, give to FTLOA - they will guarantee every cent goes into paying Vet Bills for seriously ill or injured animals who might otherwise have to be unnecessarily euthanised due to insufficient family funds. They don’t leave it there though, they follow up on their patients and report on how they are faring once they are discharged from Veterinary care and go home to their families. One story that springs to mind is of a beautiful kitty aptly named Miracle. Do yourself a favour and read the story - oh, and grab some tissues.

Thank you so much for your support donations and kind words. We can't do it without Angels like you.
I am forever grateful to the team For the Love of Alex and those who have made donations! If it wasn't for this team my Dodger boy (2yo Golden Retriever) wouldn't have been able to stay with us and get his treatment. We rescued our lil big guy when he was about 8mo old and less than a year later we discovered after unsuccessful vet visits and everntually being near death that he had Addisons Disease. We emptied our bank account and maxed out 2 credit cards just to get him into recovery. We were lost and scared because we no longer had the funds for much of anything including caring for our new furbaby. It wasnt until For the Love of Alex was mentioned to me and a response from the team gave me the sigh of relief that I/ we needed. We are so thankful they have been here to help us out until we can financially take care of Dodger and get a handle on his disease (daily and monthly medications for life). We have found an amazing specialist after going through 2 other docs and are so grateful Dodger is able to get the loving care he is thanks to For the Love of Alex! We love ya guys! Thank you thank you thank you! -Shepard Family, Indpls IN

Alex82703 01/25/2019
Thank you for this kind review and for your hard work in getting treatment for Dodger. Please give him an extra belly rub from us!
I have donated to For the Love of Alex since 2016. They do wonderful work, helping families pay for costly veterinary expenses. The organization briefly stopped accepting new cases in Feb 2018, when their founder and CEO died from cancer. The board struggled to get reorganized and appoint a new CEO. They also had a lot of back paperwork to address that hadn't been dealt with due to the CEO's illness.
If you have ever been hit with an unexpected veterinary expense for a beloved pet, you can understand the importance of this organization's mission.
If you can even donate $5 to help out, please consider it.
For the love of Alex is a wonderful rescue who helped me with my sweet Arashi more than once.
Arashi was a stray I’d been feeding but she disappeared on me. She came back a week later but she was badly injured. After trapping her and an ER vet visit she was dx with a broken left pelvis at top and bottom so her leg was free floating and also had a broken tibia of the other back leg. I had grown to love this sweet little baby but I was faced with vet bills that were only going to get more expensive. I had just started back at school and didn’t have the money. This poor girl had been through so much I just wanted her to know a loving home so I sought out help and FLoA answer my plea. She had a long road ahead and they stuck with helping me her through her four months of vet appointments and cage rest. Without them I wouldn’t have been able to afford getting her to a point where she could just enjoy her comfy life. I am so grateful for FLoA because she became such a sweetheart. Loves being brushed, scratched, and snuggling with her brothers (even when they don’t want to). Now just 8 months later and she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
This blossoming little kitty was faced with yet another hurdle. The cancer was caught early enough that it hadn’t mets’d to anywhere so surgery was an option to save her. I again was faced with vet bills I knew I couldn’t cover on my own. She is going to need 2 surgeries and possibly chemo. FLoA did a live fundraiser for her and in less than 48hrs their followers had raised enough for her first surgery. I was in tears at the love that was shown. She still has the 2nd surgery ahead of her and FLoA and followers have raised enough to cover the 2nd surgery as well. This org. saved Arashi’s life and helped me give her the chance at living out the rest of her life surrounded by love.

Alex82703 01/21/2019
Thank you for your kind words, Melinda. We are big fans of Arashi and are rooting for her.
Miss Sassy is my life saver. She was given to me at a time when I was suffer a sever leg injury. I was in so much pain and unable to walk. So here came this little fuzzy bottle baby. I cared for her for weeks next to me.
The bond is indescribable. One day, she was no eating. I knew something was wrong. I got her to the vet and gave everything I had to save her. She was impacted with a forien object. Xrays, lab work, three vets; When I ran out of funds vets offered to put her down. Three differents vets, none of them would take payments, but they would kill her. I don't know how I scrolled across For The Love of Alex, but the name was my daughter's that save Sassafras and bought her to me.
I reached out for help and Elizabeth answered. I had hope, but time was running out. Sassy was fading and my heart was being ripped apart at the same time. They helped get Sassy to a surgeon and on the road to recovery. We now know that Miss Sassafras suffers from Pika and plastic bags are not allowed in the house ever.
She helped me get mobile. Caring for her and making sure she is safe gave me the push to walk again. I know it sounds silly. How can a little cat do that? I don't know, but she did. I believe that God sent For The of Alex to me because he knew saving sassy would save me. And it did.
She has a light in her, a spark that brightens the day. My family all helps to keep her safe. Thank you from our ❤ for giving us Sassy. Please help this charity if you can. I donate to them now that I am back to work to pay it forward. Your not saving just pets, you are saving people, family members, loved ones. Truly I am grateful they saved my best friend. I would be broken without her.
Thank you.
PS....I am crying writing this!

Alex82703 01/21/2019
Thank you so much, Cris. We love you and Sassy!
Previous Stories
I suffered a horrible accident in 2015, was unable to walk, work, ect. I also recieved a little bottle baby kitten to care for while recovering. I had my leg in traction and she was in a warmer next to me while I healed. We bonded. Like she is my best friend. She gave me hope and strength to deal with the pain and recovery.
One day, that spring she was not eating. Several vet visit, test, xrays, she had a blockage. I was devastated.
I spent every dime I had, even the funds I used for my therapy. Opened and maxed out two credit cards, just so vets would offer to put her down because I had no more money to give them and they would not take payments. They saw me, my leg in a gaint steal brace/boot and knew I was suffering, still no one would help.
I reached out to For The Love Of Alex.
They sent me at once to a near by vet surgeon. Sassy was saved. I have tears just thinking about how grateful I am they saved her.
They don't just help save pets, they save families.
My little cat is my shawdow, she gives me the hope I need to push through my daily pain.
She's like, come on momma, you can walk today.
Thank you.

Such a happy ending and thank you for posting this review!
A few short months ago, Joey found this precious fur baby in the little house we had placed out in front of our home. He was pretty well mangled and had several injuries to his side, neck, and eye and face. We had no idea where he had come from or what had happened to him (our guess is someone poured something very caustic on him), but we knew that he needed our help. The only issue was that we didn’t have the money to care for him and felt at a loss. He came to our house day after day and we fed him and Joey loved him but it was getting very hot outside and this poor fur baby seemed like he was on his last leg and needed help desperately. On faith, we called our vet, who said we could bring him down there; we figured we’d figure out the bill down the road. This fur baby purred and was eating and he had a will to survive so we were able to finally get him down to our vet. In the meantime, a friend of mine suggested For the Love of Alex, Inc., and I reached out to them. I prayed as I filled out the application and hoped for the best! Our case was taken and the rest is history! For the Love of Alex’s, Abby, helped us immensely and we were able to get the help that was needed. We also made the decision to make this precious fur baby a part of our family. We named him Miracle because that is what he is to us! We are forever indebted to and grateful for all of the donors who contributed to Miracle’s care as he needed a few surgeries and medications. He still has to have artificial tears for the rest of his life and he has a heart murmur but he is, otherwise, a happy, healthy, playful, and loving addition to our family. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. We highly recommend For the Love of Alex, Inc., to anyone wanting to help and anyone needing help for their fur babies!!!

Alex82703 01/18/2019
Thank you so much, Angel. Your care of Miracle has been paramount to Miracle's recovery. We were happy for the opportunity to play a part in it.
Last summer our cat "Boo" became very sick, she was a feral cat we took in 15 years ago. Boo never asked for anything but she gave great body hugs to make us aware of how much she loved us. She became ill very quickly and two office visits in one week came to $1,200. We wanted to do whatever we could to help her but by week number two she was worst. It was becoming evident that more office visits were going to be hard to pay. To be honest, I didn't look for any help but somehow the story of what Alex did for animals showed up in the Facebook feed. It was then that I reached out for help.
They were there for us, helped us so much and stayed in contact until the last visit when we were told she had cancer all over. They made a hardship for us go away, paid for the last two visits and cried with me. They continued to check in from time to time, who does that? No one. These people really care for the animal's that are placed before them for help, they care about you as a person and what your going through. They express love and support in ways that only hurt people can understand.
When we rescued a two year old cat who had been dumped and declawed last fall we shared that story with them. Still today, they reach out and check on our newest member of the family. We never forget the loves that have pasted away but share that love for another animal in need of a home.
I'll never forget how they comforted me, their kind words, always checking back to see how we are doing. This is the best nonprofit to give to in order to help not only the animal that is suffering but the family that finds it a hardship. I'm so blessed to be able to share with you how we feel.
Blessings, Marcy Terwilliger

Thank you so much for this lovely review, Marcy. We appreciate your love and kindness for animals and your ongoing support of For the Love of Alex. You make the world a better place.
I had been following & donating to this wonderful nonprofit group for approximately 4 years now. When recently I actually found myself in desperate help for 2 of my babies who had developed some health issues. 1 (Austin) wasn't able to eat & my other one (Jack) developed heart issues. I had had exhausted all of my funds due to my health issues & inability to work along with getting robbed & could not afford to find out what the answer to their issues were. But thanks to For the Love of Alex & all the awesome people who donate to help I was able to get an echo cardiogram & blood work done on my senior boy (Jack) & he was diagnosed with heart arrhythmia & heart failure, but is on medicine & doing great. The other guy (Austin) had a really bad infected canine tooth that needed to be removed. He is now doing great as well. I am so extremely grateful for the help, I don't know what I would of done without them. They are my & my babies angels. Keep up the great work! Anyone who can donate, please do, even if it is only $1. You never know when you may find yourself in need of help like I was. XO
On Sep 4 2018 my puppy name Noddle was diagnosed with Parvo. I did not have the money and i did not know what to do so i checked online and i found this rescue organization named FOR THE LOVE OF ALEX INC. I contacted them and Thank goodness that there is rescues like this... they where able to help me and they paid for the treatment for my Noodle for a week. Thanks to FOR THE LOVE OF ALEX INC my Noodle is fine now.
I just wanted to Thank FOR THE LOVE OF ALEX INC AND GOD BLESS YOU GUYS without your help my Noodle wouldnt have been cured...Thank you so much!
I can not say enough good things about FOTA, Inc. They have gone above and beyond to help my service dog Coco.
Coco has had a heart murmur since she was young. We found out it's an hereditary disease that she got from one of her parents. Well, I contacted this organization through the recommendation of a friend and they have been more than willing to help Coco get better. They have paid for Coco's veterinary office visits, her lab work and even seeing the cardiologist. Coco is doing extremely well on her medication regimen. She is happy, healthy and she is doing even better than when she was a puppy.
Thank you For the Love of Alex, Inc for helping get my Coco better. You will always have my support for everything you've done for us, and I am sure so many others.
These guys were awesome! I had exhausted my funds for my animals and they stepped in like a super hero and helped us out with our boy Charming. His surgery was out of our price range and we were going to have to put him down and he is so young. When they said they would pay for his surgery, I couldn’t believe it. I am so thankful to them and for helping our lil boy. Thank you so much and you will be in our prayers.
Charming is back home now and healing. He had blockages in his bladder that forced us to give him a PU surgery. (perineal urethrostomy)
For the Love of Alex Inc. was there for me and my boy Cheshire when we needed them. I have been battling with Feline Idocystitis with my 8 year old cat for over 4 months. (2 urinary blockages) Since the first one he really hadn’t been his old self...then a 3 blockage happened and I was out of funds, each of the surgeries prior did me in. I had a bill with the vet so they couldn’t help me then I remembered a friend of mine had told me about a nonprofit for something just like my issue. I then proceeded to fill out the app and to my surprise not only did they take my case but they paid for a full surgery that will in theory fix the issue (Perineal Urethrostomy) PU Surgery. As of today I am starting to see my original boy again. He’s even started playing with his younger brother which he would not do in the past because he was hurting. Thank you so very much For the Love Of Alex Inc. I am completely convinced you saved my boys life.
My family lost my Dad a little over a year ago suddenly (in less than a four day span.) It left my family heartbroken and left my mom with very little income due to losing my dad's retirement. She's put on everywhere for a job but no one seems to want to hire a senior citizen. She was already taking care of her two special needs dogs (one who has a heart problem, the other who has a liver problem) when her cat Tiger was diagnosed with double renal failure a few months ago. She was devastated and had to figure out how to pay for his biweekly treatments. She was barely scraping by when Tiger's sister was diagnosed as diabetic, requiring insulin. I reached out to For the Love of Alex, knowing all the great work they do. I honestly didn't expect any help, just because we're usually the people who help others instead of people who ask for help. I was floored when FtLoA helped my mom in just a week's time, and with a lot more than we could have even hoped for. I cried, she cried. You're truly angels, Abby. We will pay it forward. God bless you!
I had an emergency situation with my sweet 2 year old fur baby boy Friday. He had crystals in his bladder and they stopped up his urethra. The vets said he needed surgery or he wouldn’t make it. We tried flushing his bladder out with a catheter first, but that didn’t work out. I contacted For the Love of Alex, Inc in my desperation. I have been strapped financially from having to get my own apartment and moving out of my mentally/emotionally abusive ex’s place. Norma took care of us with very minimal questions asked. I cannot thank her and FtLoA enough for saving my baby’s life. He’s been with me through so much and I couldn’t imagine my life without him. I will be doing many fundraising campaigns for them through Facebook over the years in thanks for their efforts.
For the Love of Alex Inc has been nothing short of a miracle nonprofit!! Our young rescue puppy who is only 16 weeks became very ill within the past week and had spent multiple nights in the animal hospital and I had reached out to For the Love of Alex Inc for some financial assistance because as many of us know that the vet bills continue to pile up and we ran out of funds. Our puppy Maui means so much to us and without For the Love of Alex Inc we are positive that if they hadn't stepped in to help us along this journey that Maui would no longer be here with us. Although he isn't 100% better we were able to figure out a diagnosis. We had recently found out that Maui will need surgery if we would want to help him live a few extra years and although the risks may be high, For the Love of Alex had told us that whatever we decide to do they will help. We couldn't be anymore grateful for these angels, they saved Maui and plenty of other animals lives too.
I first heard about For The Love of Alex in 2013. I have always loved animals and was amazed at Elizabeth's (or as I called her, Alex's mom) tireless work to help animals all over the country, which healed many human hearts, as they didn't have to face the loss of their beloved fur baby. I donated whenever I was able and was glad to be an Alex's Angel. Last July, after a strong thunderstorm in our small town, a little yellow kitten appeared on our porch and decided that my daughter and I were his "people". We gave him some dog food as we were also the proud " people " of two mini dachshunds, and that was all he needed to just follow the dogs through the dog door and right into our hearts. As I hadn't had a cat in over 14 years, I reached out to Elizabeth for any information she could give us to best care for this little guy and she was amazed at how much he looked like her Tiny. I kept her updated with pictures and she answered any questions I had about how to keep our Finnian happy and healthy. Early this year I was greatly saddened to hear of Elizabeth's passing, but was happy to hear that her board of directors were committed to continue the work she had started, never thinking that I would soon need the help of this amazing organization.
Early this month we noticed that Finn was becoming lethargic, not eating well and just not being his normal exhuberant self. On Sunday, July 8th, we discovered him hiding behind the couch, and when we got him out, he was unable to walk without falling over! We immediately headed to Veterinary Emergency Services in Verona, Va, 30 minutes from our home. After being examined thoroughly, Finn was diagnosed as being blind, with possible swelling in his brain and we were told that he needed to go to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Virginia Tech as soon as possible. I had recently had knee surgery and was off work for several months, so we knew that financially we would not be able to pay for the care he would need there. While waiting for the discharge instructions, I reached out to For The Love of Alex, imploring them for any help they could provide. Within an hour we were told that Finn would be funded for any care that he needed so we headed for Blacksburg, 2 1/2 hours away.
Upon arrival, Finn was taken to the intensive care section of the small animal clinic and evaluated by Dr Hyeon Jeong, and we were given a plan of action. Finn would be admitted and an MRI and spinal tap were scheduled for the next day. Dr Jeong alleviated many of our fears, just because he was determined to discover what was wrong with our cat. So we left him there and headed home. We were called that night with a report on how Finn was doing and then received a call early the next morning from Dr Richard Shinn the Neurology Resident. He was concerned that Finn could possibly have FIP, which is fatal in 95% of cases, so we spent the day worried about whether Finn would ever be well again. Dr Shinn called multiple times that day, giving us updates after each test and confirming that we approved for each consecutive test that he needed. I was able to say yes, to each request because I knew that For The Love of Alex was behind me financially and were committeed to helping us bring our kitty home. It was with immense relief and gratitude that I took the last call that day giving us his diagnosis. He did not have FIP. He was suffering from a cryptococcal fungus infection in his central nervous system and it had caused his brain to swell and impair his vision and also his ability to walk. His prognosis is fair to good according to Dr Shinn, and he may need to be on anti-fungal medicine the rest of his life, but we are so grateful that he will have " a life". We can never thank For The Love Of Alex enough for that life. We still have our amazing Finn and we are immensely thankful.
My beautiful kitty named Piglet became 100% urinary blocked. There was no way I would be able to afford the vet care he needed. For The Love of Alex stepped up and handled everything. All of his bills were paid and they even sent cases of prescription food. It was really nice being able to focus on getting Piglet well without the stress of trying to get his bills paid. Thank you to this nonprofit for being awesome.

Thank you for your warm comments about us. It is our donors that make all of our work possible. Our Alex Angels are awesome.
I needed to get some lab work done for my certified service dog but since I live on disability, I didn't have the money to get my little Coco in. This amazing organization paid for the bill before I even had taken Coco in. I was able to go in, get the lab work done and didn't have to pay anything when we checked out.
I will never be able to thank the caring people that are a part of this organization enough. Thank you for your help.

Alex82703 07/21/2018
Our Alex Angels knew how important Coco was and they responded. We are nothing without them. Thank you so much for your encouraging words and your acknowledgment of our donors! Much love.
I'm a US Army veteran recently losing my leg and my ability to work and provide for my family. Recently found out my 9 year old chocolate Labrador Retriever Hershey has developed bladder cancer. Unable to give her proper treatment was put in contact with the for the love of Alex inc non-profit organization. they have help me beyond belief with veterinarian visits and then recently starting radiation therapy, hopefully getting a few more months or years out of my vibrant 9 year old. Wow. Thank you for such an amazing post. We are honored to help a Veteran. You are the hero of this story. We are here for you. Much love.
So incredibly thankful to have found FLOA. Not only are they good hearted people, but they genuinely care about others and what they are going through. I am forever grateful for all of the help they have given my boy and I.

Thank you, Faith. Our best to you and your precious boy.
I am forever grateful for FLOA and their Angels. My sweet baby girl Brooklyn had grown an enormous tumor on her inner thigh that was interfering with her urinating and walking. I had barely been able to afford a vet appointment let alone a specialized surgery. With the help of FLOA Brooklyn was able to get her tumor removed and is recovering from her surgery. Her overall wellbeing has already improved tenfold. FLOA and their angels are truely a blessing. Tha k you for everything and I hope to stay in touch.

Thank you for your kind words, Amanda. We are so happy that Brooklyn is on the mend, thanks to the generosity of our donors - our Alex's Angels!
For the love of Alex Inc is a great non profit organization. They helped my boy's and I with our puppy Sadie when she got hit by a car and needed surgery on both of her back hips. The surgery was over $900 and they paid for it. Now our Puppy is doing great. We will forever be grateful for The love of Alex and Alex's Angels. If it wasn't for them, we might not have Sadie with us today.

For the Love of Alex Inc. is a great nonprofit! They help animals and their owners who are in need, when they need help with veterinary expenses! I have not needed their help, but their group has given great advice in the past. I once had a kitten with very bad runny diarrhea. I asked for help, and was given advice on what to do. It worked great, and my kitten is now fully grown, almost 2 1/2 years old now!

Thank you for your kind words and we are so happy to hear about your kitten!
For the love of Alex Inc is a great organization! They help families stay together who would otherwise be ripped apart! I hope they continue to do great work! I built a friendship with Elizabeth and know they will carry on her work!

Alex82703 06/30/2018
Thank you, Mary! We will continue the work that Elizabeth started and we are grateful for the opportunity to work with our wonderful donors - our Alex's Angels!
For the love of Alex is the greatest thing to ever happen to me and my cat. My cat had two cancerous tumors that would have cost me close to $2,000. There was no way I could afford it. Thanks to For the love of Alex, she’s completely healthy!

I started following For the Love of Alex, and was touched by the love and compassion they show to both the animals and their owners. They also go to great lengths to get them well. I have donated several times.
I appreciate their efforts to carry forward the hard work and persistance of Elizabeth, the recently deceased founder.

I have been a contributor to a number of fundraising appeals on behalf of individual animals. I am moved by the genuine concern for helping animals in great need, often of major surgery. Always Alex sets the highest possible standard of care, never amputation when board certified orthopedic surgeon can repair a limb. And always, personal involvement at every stage. So many individual miracles.

It is because of mighty Angels - our donors, that we are able to make miracles happen! Thank you so much for posting this review!
The person who answers emails/messages has their own ‘ego’ problem. They get little ‘jabs’ in at you basically blaming you for a pets injury. When you say you don’t appreciate the comments, they blatantly say to you that it’s your fault the animal is injured, tell you, you have an ‘ego’ problem (not the first time they have used the ego comment, see other complaints) and then block you from further communication (because they can’t handle criticism).
I was disappointed in the lack of help. I'm trying to save my 3yr old cat who has a blocked bladder. the vet recommended a surgical procedure. There were several cats shown on the website as having been saved by this procedure. I e-mailed the site looking for some assistance and I said I would hate to have to put him down for a fixable condition that is beyond my means. I received what came across as a rant against the procedure and a rant about wanting to MURDER my cat.
I'm trying desperately to save him and got nothing. If there was another option I certainly would have entertained it. I've already spent everything I have. I thought they would help.

We're sorry to hear that you had a negative experience. While we do not know all the details of your case, there are two sides to every story and our mission is to help if we can. Take care.
