An orange kitty started showing up at our house one morning and never left. I'd feed him, love him, and let him be on his merry way; but one morning the kitty was still on my porch from the night before and didn't come to greet me with his usual chirps and purs. As a matter of fact, he couldn't even lift his head and seemed lifeless. I rushed him to the vet's office to find out he had a urinary blockage and his kidneys were shutting down. The kitty was going into a coma and without immediate treatment, he wouldn't make it through the night. I had grown very attached to this orange kitty over the months. More so than even I had realized, because when the first vet bill of over $1000 was given, I didn't even blink an eye. I wanted this kitty to live and I'd do whatever it took. The orange kitty -that had melted my heart- did make it through the night, but he was on several medications and had to be monitored hourly which meant he lived at the vet for almost two weeks. The bills became overwhelming, and I was at the point where I could no longer afford for his care. Devastated and desperate I tried every avenue I could think of with little to no help. That is, until I found For The Love of Alex. They contacted me soon after my application was sent and actually LISTENED to this stray's story. They had compassion and care, as well as the resources and funding to keep this kitty alive. For The Love of Alex helped continue with his care long after expected. They checked in on him and myself to see how we were doing. They did research about his issues and came up with alternative ideas when what we were doing wasn't working. They found specialist when our vet no longer had answers. They found precious time when everyone else was too busy to listen. I could go on and on about For The Love of Alex, but at the end of the day, I really can't even begin to put into words what this organization has done and means to me. I mean, how do you review how much a life means to you and the people that chose to help that life go on? All I know is, because of For The Love Of Alex, my Burrito Kitty, formly known as the orange stray, got a second chance at life and a family to call his furever home. For that, I am forever grateful.

One year ago today we almost lost our sweet puppy.....Wheezy was 8 months old and had a blockage in his intestinal track!! He would have died without surgery and there was no way we could come up with the $2,300 needed. But thanks to For the Love of Alex and all the generous donors of this amazing charity Wheezy was able to get that life saving surgery and we are able to love, spoil, and celebrate him (along with the rest of our mini zoo) every single day!!! There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t thank God for this amazing charity and all the people who make it possible!!! THANK YOU

For the Love of Alex is a wonderful organization that does so much to
Help pets in need of medical help. They help the owners who do not have all of the funds needed for test, surgery etc. without them some pet owners would have to have their precious pets euthanized and we don’t want anyone to go thru that. I had to do it one time as my kitty had and incurable lung disease and was suffering so we had no choice but if there is any hope for our pets to recover we must try and For the Love of Alex is always there to help. Please support them with any size donation you can afford. Even small donations can make a difference

For The Love of Alex helped me try to save my Licorice. Licorice was adopted from a pet store which was showcasing her for a rescue center. She had been there a few weeks and we were just drawn to her. We adopted her in February of 2017. She was such a sweet cat, she loved sleeping on our chests and sitting on our shoulders during the day. She literally watched over us at all times. Then she started losing weight in June of 2018, which turned out to be a tumor. The vet thought they could do surgery and remove the tumor but it was going to cost more than we were able to get. We had care credit and were still short about $2000. I contacted For the Love of Alex and they didn't hesitate to help, because of them Licorice was able to have the surgery. It is sad that she wasn't able to make it out of the surgery, you see, the tumor was too involved at that point. It was literally taking over most of her organs and there was no hope of survival.
While we were going through trying to get help for Licorice to have the surgery, during the surgery, and even afterward For The Love of Alex was there. They checked on us and tried to comfort us afterward. I know that my baby didn't make it, but For The Love of Alex helps so many other babies that do make it. They need our help and our donations so they can continue to help others.
Every dollar helps, even if you can only give $1, please do. I know from experience that it is put to good use. There are other families like mine that need your help and the help of For The Love of Alex!

Our cat Oliver (Ollie) has been having ongoing urinary issues for a little over a month. We took him to his vet and they couldn’t seem to find a for sure answer for us as to why he wasn’t using the litter box and seemed to be straining to go to the bathroom. They had done xrays and urinary infection tests on him that both came back negative for infection and blockage that they could see. Once he started bleeding in his urine in odd places, we took him back and they treated him with antibiotics and steroids. He did well on those for about a week and a half and then he started bleeding in his urine again. His vet recommended we take him to the emergency vet as they were full the day before July 4th. We took him to an emergency vet in Columbia and were told he had a blockage (which we suspected) and that he would need a very pricey surgery to fix it and they would need to keep our baby for several nights. As much as we love our kitty, it was an expense we just could not afford at this time. They recommended For the Love of Alex, an amazing nonprofit group who would possibly allow us to keep our kitty and also pay for his surgery. We applied and were accepted that same night! We are so grateful to this group and after 2 nights in the hospital we were able to take our kitty back home. Unfortunately we did find out he also has a heart murmur and needs treatment for that, too, but he is doing well now after being home and on new medications and a new diet. We are so thankful for people who have hearts for animals like we do! Please share and donate to give this group the opportunity to continue helping animals like our baby Ollie!

I wanted to share my story with all of you and let you know how the organization for the love of Alex has changed my life and my Pedro's life in such an amazingly positive way! On September 10th 2018 I received the best birthday present I have ever and will ever receive!..... I was surprised at my Pedro's oncologist office with the news that for the love of Alex was going to pay for the past outstanding bill and history his treatment going forward!! I remember standing there in shock end in tears, which is not a typical reaction or show of emotions for me! From that point on For the Love of Alex has been there every step of the way.. they've picked up his hospital bills, when I have had to take him on an emergency basis as well as his oncologist doctor visits! Abby who I refer to as an Earth Angel as well as everyone from For the Love of Alex have been so supportive and so compassionate I am still in disbelief how incredibly generous and caring Abby and the people at For the Love of Alex are! waking up in the morning and going to sleep at night it's so much easier knowing that I can dedicate my energy in my life to my Pedro and not have to worry about where I'm going to come up with the money to pay for his treatment as I did for over 2 years! I believe in miracles even more so because of my experience with For the Love of Alex! I am so grateful to the founders and to the people working to help people like myself and little animals like my Pedro! Pedro continues to show his Incredible strength but no doubt Not For the Love of Alex has a lot to do with his resiliency and his strength! Thanks to the organization for the love of Alex Pedro is alive and continues to survive fibrosarcoma cancer! For the Love of Alex is truly a humanitarian and philanthropic organization with no strings attached!! In a world where we hear so much negativity and cruelty and insensitivity.. For the Love of Alex organization restores my faith in human beings and my belief that humans are inherently good! For all of these reasons and many more that I did not mention I give for the love of Alex organization 5 out of 5 stars.. but if I could give more I would I would give them an infinite amount of stars because they're compassion and selflessness transcends Beyond this world!

Just a short time ago I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. My children are grown and living their busy lives. I have always been the hugest animal lover you could ever meet. I came across these 2 small kittens, they said the owner moved and left their mama kitty behind. It broke my heart and I welcomed these 2 kittens into our home. They were covered in fleas and skinny as a rail. With lots of good food and tender loving care these 2 kittens grew fast and we're the sweetest little guys. I have had them for about 2 years. Goose and Maverick my daughter named them. About 3 weeks ago is when the one kitty, Goose started not eating. Hiding, making many trips to the litter box. I had tried some of the home remedies I saw online with no success. Goose was only getting worse. Being's that I have MS, I'm on disability. A fixed income is terribly hard to find extra funds for anything let alone vet bills but he is my fur baby and I love him dearly. Took Goose to the veterinarian and he was diagnosed with crystals in his urine with a possible blockage. They did blood work, urine culture and they explained to me that this is going to be an ongoing problem, that he will be on a prescription diet. I called all kinds of animal orginazations in my area for the need to get his prescription food to help with his crystals. I was unable to pay the bill that day and promised I would. In the meantime I was introduced to For The Love Of Alex organization. I filled out the application and with a day or so got word that they would be able to help Goose and I. I got a call from the vet that Goose had a bladder infection and would need antibiotics. I Picked up his medicine. He still did not want to eat. Day after day Goose was getting weaker and weaker. Everyday I prayed that the antibiotics would finally work, that Goose would begin eating. I have spoke with one of the workers from For the Love of Alex and shared with her my need of financial help with the vet bill and that he needed this prescription food only. He was not aloud to eat anything else. Abby was so thoughtful, kind and caring. Finally I felt maybe there is hope. A few days later, Goose had become so weak he could not even hold his head up. It was a Saturday morning and even though it was the weekend Abby called me back, I had already brought Goose to the vet hospital. The blood work showed that his kidneys were shutting down, he had pancreatitis, high blood sugar. I felt the vet was going to suggest euthanasia. With not a moment to spare Abby called to speak with the vet. The vet informed me that they would begin aggressive treatment on my fur baby, that his condition was guarded and he may still die. The tears of relief and gratitude rolled down my face, that I wouldn't have to say good bye to one of my best friends. Goose was hospitalized for about a week. He was going to make it. I thanked my God and Abby for saving my friend. Today he is on a strict diet, prescribed by the vet which he will be on for the rest of his sweet life. He is becoming like the old Goose I remember, chasing my feral cat and playing with his brother. It feels so great knowing I will have my best friend for many years. I'm beyond grateful that I didn't have to say good bye to my fur baby that Saturday morning.
Thanks to Abby and all the heart felt donations. The best orginazations I've ever known! If only there was more stars, still it wouldn't be enough.

This organization quite literally saved my life. My dog Asia is my lifeline. We are best friends and have been by one another’s side every single day since the day she was born- I literally was there and caught her and cleaned her when she was born. We don’t seperate and seeing her in pain makes me physically sick, she is like a child to me but more than that we are best friends, we live for one another. Unfortunately starting at 3 weeks of age Asia got the short end of the stick, the bad luck and mobility issues just continued to worsen and more issues popped up as time went on. Now after one surgery, weeks and weeks and weeks of water treadmill and physical therapy, meds that cost me 400$ per month, shockwave, acupuncture, you name it she’s had it and 15k at least in debt, her ccl became so diseased that it was completely gone and her arthritis so advanced, her knee so diseased all together that she needs a total knee replacement. I am a college student who has already put out a tremendous amount trying to make my girl comfortable and fix her ailments, so another 12k surgery made my heart drop. I knew I couldn’t do it, but how could I not, it’s what she needed? I reached out to a few organizations and FTLOA was one of them, and boy am I so grateful that I did. Abby emailed me within a day and called me later that day. They did not have the means to take on her case whatsoever but they were so empathetic that they still did. She said she would do a fundraiser on Facebook but wasn’t sure if we would reach the goal. Due to their incredible posts, followers, sharing and donors we reached our goal of 8,000$ which exceeded all of our expectations. They emailed me and were genuinely so happy. These people love what they do and love all of the animals they are involved with like their own. They are involved and so passionate about helping families and saving lives. They still keep in touch with me even though her surgery isn’t schedule until Sept and her fundraiser is over- it just shows how much they care. They are so excited for her surgery and are excited to follow her recovery and journey after surgery. Such genuine people and I am so forever grateful to them. Thank you so much FTLOA, I owe you everything.❤️

Odin came to me out of necessity. He was a friendly stray/feral who showed up one day injured and we thought he had been attacked. I trapped him, and brought him in, kept him in quarantine in my bathroom (away from my other cats) until i could get him into a vet to assess his eye damage and get him neutered. After about a week of gentle cleaning a foxtail worked it's way out of his eye. At his vet appointment, they determined he needed to have the eye removed, as it was in danger of rupturing. We are a low income family and a large vet bill was not something we could afford, so I looked for help. Google led me to For The love of Alex, and through their generosity, I now have a happy and healthy boy. They were literally a life saver for this sweet boy and helped me give him a good and normal life. This organization and all its donors are Angel's on earth.

There simply aren’t enough stars for me to really rate how highly I regard For The Love of Alex. The work they do is truly inspiring ... life changing and life saving! Every life matters, every life count. It doesn’t matter how hopeless things might look at first, they work tirelessly to find a way to save that life if at all possible and pay the staggering costs of doing so. So many people are forced to put their dear loved dogs or cats to sleep because they have no way of paying the exorbitant vet bills it would take to heal them. For The Love of Alex offers hope that wouldn’t otherwise be possible. My Kiki is my whole world, my life. If I couldn’t afford to save her because of the cost, I would run to FTLOA for help and the hope they bring.

I haven't had the privilege of having this organization help me with one of my fur babies, but I HAVE had the opportunity to help many other sweet fur babies get the help they need and pay for their medical bills. I can't imagine what it would be like, not having this great organization available for those who need it! Keep going strong, For the Love of Alex!

This is one of the most remarkable animal welfare charities for what they do. Their mission is to help animals get the medical care they need when their owner/family are unable to afford the cost themselves. I understand that they rely solely on donations from the public in order to do this and turn no animal away unless they are so heavily burdened with cases that they literally struggle to meet the financial demand. I “met” this group on Facebook quite some time ago and at first just followed some of their stories, but as my interest in animal welfare grew, I felt drawn to this organisation more and more, following every story, praying for the precious lives they provide care for and have also started giving when I’m able to.
I know that they are terribly overburdened at the moment and have had to temporarily close their casebook until the current financial commitment has been largely covered. I’m an Australian and give to them whenever I can - that’s how highly I regard them. Please, if you have a heart for animals in need, give to FTLOA - they will guarantee every cent goes into paying Vet Bills for seriously ill or injured animals who might otherwise have to be unnecessarily euthanised due to insufficient family funds. They don’t leave it there though, they follow up on their patients and report on how they are faring once they are discharged from Veterinary care and go home to their families. One story that springs to mind is of a beautiful kitty aptly named Miracle. Do yourself a favour and read the story - oh, and grab some tissues.

I am forever grateful to the team For the Love of Alex and those who have made donations! If it wasn't for this team my Dodger boy (2yo Golden Retriever) wouldn't have been able to stay with us and get his treatment. We rescued our lil big guy when he was about 8mo old and less than a year later we discovered after unsuccessful vet visits and everntually being near death that he had Addisons Disease. We emptied our bank account and maxed out 2 credit cards just to get him into recovery. We were lost and scared because we no longer had the funds for much of anything including caring for our new furbaby. It wasnt until For the Love of Alex was mentioned to me and a response from the team gave me the sigh of relief that I/ we needed. We are so thankful they have been here to help us out until we can financially take care of Dodger and get a handle on his disease (daily and monthly medications for life). We have found an amazing specialist after going through 2 other docs and are so grateful Dodger is able to get the loving care he is thanks to For the Love of Alex! We love ya guys! Thank you thank you thank you! -Shepard Family, Indpls IN

I have donated to For the Love of Alex since 2016. They do wonderful work, helping families pay for costly veterinary expenses. The organization briefly stopped accepting new cases in Feb 2018, when their founder and CEO died from cancer. The board struggled to get reorganized and appoint a new CEO. They also had a lot of back paperwork to address that hadn't been dealt with due to the CEO's illness.

If you have ever been hit with an unexpected veterinary expense for a beloved pet, you can understand the importance of this organization's mission.

If you can even donate $5 to help out, please consider it.

For the love of Alex is a wonderful rescue who helped me with my sweet Arashi more than once.
Arashi was a stray I’d been feeding but she disappeared on me. She came back a week later but she was badly injured. After trapping her and an ER vet visit she was dx with a broken left pelvis at top and bottom so her leg was free floating and also had a broken tibia of the other back leg. I had grown to love this sweet little baby but I was faced with vet bills that were only going to get more expensive. I had just started back at school and didn’t have the money. This poor girl had been through so much I just wanted her to know a loving home so I sought out help and FLoA answer my plea. She had a long road ahead and they stuck with helping me her through her four months of vet appointments and cage rest. Without them I wouldn’t have been able to afford getting her to a point where she could just enjoy her comfy life. I am so grateful for FLoA because she became such a sweetheart. Loves being brushed, scratched, and snuggling with her brothers (even when they don’t want to). Now just 8 months later and she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
This blossoming little kitty was faced with yet another hurdle. The cancer was caught early enough that it hadn’t mets’d to anywhere so surgery was an option to save her. I again was faced with vet bills I knew I couldn’t cover on my own. She is going to need 2 surgeries and possibly chemo. FLoA did a live fundraiser for her and in less than 48hrs their followers had raised enough for her first surgery. I was in tears at the love that was shown. She still has the 2nd surgery ahead of her and FLoA and followers have raised enough to cover the 2nd surgery as well. This org. saved Arashi’s life and helped me give her the chance at living out the rest of her life surrounded by love.

Miss Sassy is my life saver. She was given to me at a time when I was suffer a sever leg injury. I was in so much pain and unable to walk. So here came this little fuzzy bottle baby. I cared for her for weeks next to me.
The bond is indescribable. One day, she was no eating. I knew something was wrong. I got her to the vet and gave everything I had to save her. She was impacted with a forien object. Xrays, lab work, three vets; When I ran out of funds vets offered to put her down. Three differents vets, none of them would take payments, but they would kill her. I don't know how I scrolled across For The Love of Alex, but the name was my daughter's that save Sassafras and bought her to me.
I reached out for help and Elizabeth answered. I had hope, but time was running out. Sassy was fading and my heart was being ripped apart at the same time. They helped get Sassy to a surgeon and on the road to recovery. We now know that Miss Sassafras suffers from Pika and plastic bags are not allowed in the house ever.
She helped me get mobile. Caring for her and making sure she is safe gave me the push to walk again. I know it sounds silly. How can a little cat do that? I don't know, but she did. I believe that God sent For The of Alex to me because he knew saving sassy would save me. And it did.
She has a light in her, a spark that brightens the day. My family all helps to keep her safe. Thank you from our ❤ for giving us Sassy. Please help this charity if you can. I donate to them now that I am back to work to pay it forward. Your not saving just pets, you are saving people, family members, loved ones. Truly I am grateful they saved my best friend. I would be broken without her.
Thank you.

PS....I am crying writing this!

I suffered a horrible accident in 2015, was unable to walk, work, ect. I also recieved a little bottle baby kitten to care for while recovering. I had my leg in traction and she was in a warmer next to me while I healed. We bonded. Like she is my best friend. She gave me hope and strength to deal with the pain and recovery.
One day, that spring she was not eating. Several vet visit, test, xrays, she had a blockage. I was devastated.
I spent every dime I had, even the funds I used for my therapy. Opened and maxed out two credit cards, just so vets would offer to put her down because I had no more money to give them and they would not take payments. They saw me, my leg in a gaint steal brace/boot and knew I was suffering, still no one would help.
I reached out to For The Love Of Alex.
They sent me at once to a near by vet surgeon. Sassy was saved. I have tears just thinking about how grateful I am they saved her.
They don't just help save pets, they save families.
My little cat is my shawdow, she gives me the hope I need to push through my daily pain.
She's like, come on momma, you can walk today.
Thank you.

A few short months ago, Joey found this precious fur baby in the little house we had placed out in front of our home. He was pretty well mangled and had several injuries to his side, neck, and eye and face. We had no idea where he had come from or what had happened to him (our guess is someone poured something very caustic on him), but we knew that he needed our help. The only issue was that we didn’t have the money to care for him and felt at a loss. He came to our house day after day and we fed him and Joey loved him but it was getting very hot outside and this poor fur baby seemed like he was on his last leg and needed help desperately. On faith, we called our vet, who said we could bring him down there; we figured we’d figure out the bill down the road. This fur baby purred and was eating and he had a will to survive so we were able to finally get him down to our vet. In the meantime, a friend of mine suggested For the Love of Alex, Inc., and I reached out to them. I prayed as I filled out the application and hoped for the best! Our case was taken and the rest is history! For the Love of Alex’s, Abby, helped us immensely and we were able to get the help that was needed. We also made the decision to make this precious fur baby a part of our family. We named him Miracle because that is what he is to us! We are forever indebted to and grateful for all of the donors who contributed to Miracle’s care as he needed a few surgeries and medications. He still has to have artificial tears for the rest of his life and he has a heart murmur but he is, otherwise, a happy, healthy, playful, and loving addition to our family. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. We highly recommend For the Love of Alex, Inc., to anyone wanting to help and anyone needing help for their fur babies!!!

Last summer our cat "Boo" became very sick, she was a feral cat we took in 15 years ago. Boo never asked for anything but she gave great body hugs to make us aware of how much she loved us. She became ill very quickly and two office visits in one week came to $1,200. We wanted to do whatever we could to help her but by week number two she was worst. It was becoming evident that more office visits were going to be hard to pay. To be honest, I didn't look for any help but somehow the story of what Alex did for animals showed up in the Facebook feed. It was then that I reached out for help.

They were there for us, helped us so much and stayed in contact until the last visit when we were told she had cancer all over. They made a hardship for us go away, paid for the last two visits and cried with me. They continued to check in from time to time, who does that? No one. These people really care for the animal's that are placed before them for help, they care about you as a person and what your going through. They express love and support in ways that only hurt people can understand.

When we rescued a two year old cat who had been dumped and declawed last fall we shared that story with them. Still today, they reach out and check on our newest member of the family. We never forget the loves that have pasted away but share that love for another animal in need of a home.

I'll never forget how they comforted me, their kind words, always checking back to see how we are doing. This is the best nonprofit to give to in order to help not only the animal that is suffering but the family that finds it a hardship. I'm so blessed to be able to share with you how we feel.

Blessings, Marcy Terwilliger

When recently I actually found myself in desperate help for 2 of my babies who had developed some health issues. 1 (Austin) wasn't able to eat & my other one (Jack) developed heart issues. I had had exhausted all of my funds due to my health issues & inability to work along with getting robbed & could not afford to find out what the answer to their issues were. But thanks to For the Love of Alex & all the awesome people who donate to help I was able to get an echo cardiogram & blood work done on my senior boy (Jack) & he was diagnosed with heart arrhythmia & heart failure, but is on medicine & doing great. The other guy (Austin) had a really bad infected canine tooth that needed to be removed. He is now doing great as well. I am so extremely grateful for the help, I don't know what I would of done without them. They are my & my babies angels. Keep up the great work! Anyone who can donate, please do, even if it is only $1. You never know when you may find yourself in need of help like I was. XO

I can not say enough good things about FOTA, Inc. They have gone above and beyond to help my service dog Coco.

Coco has had a heart murmur since she was young. We found out it's an hereditary disease that she got from one of her parents. Well, I contacted this organization through the recommendation of a friend and they have been more than willing to help Coco get better. They have paid for Coco's veterinary office visits, her lab work and even seeing the cardiologist. Coco is doing extremely well on her medication regimen. She is happy, healthy and she is doing even better than when she was a puppy.

Thank you For the Love of Alex, Inc for helping get my Coco better. You will always have my support for everything you've done for us, and I am sure so many others.

These guys were awesome! I had exhausted my funds for my animals and they stepped in like a super hero and helped us out with our boy Charming. His surgery was out of our price range and we were going to have to put him down and he is so young. When they said they would pay for his surgery, I couldn’t believe it. I am so thankful to them and for helping our lil boy. Thank you so much and you will be in our prayers.
Charming is back home now and healing. He had blockages in his bladder that forced us to give him a PU surgery. (perineal urethrostomy)

For the Love of Alex Inc. was there for me and my boy Cheshire when we needed them. I have been battling with Feline Idocystitis with my 8 year old cat for over 4 months. (2 urinary blockages) Since the first one he really hadn’t been his old self...then a 3 blockage happened and I was out of funds, each of the surgeries prior did me in. I had a bill with the vet so they couldn’t help me then I remembered a friend of mine had told me about a nonprofit for something just like my issue. I then proceeded to fill out the app and to my surprise not only did they take my case but they paid for a full surgery that will in theory fix the issue (Perineal Urethrostomy) PU Surgery. As of today I am starting to see my original boy again. He’s even started playing with his younger brother which he would not do in the past because he was hurting. Thank you so very much For the Love Of Alex Inc. I am completely convinced you saved my boys life.

My family lost my Dad a little over a year ago suddenly (in less than a four day span.) It left my family heartbroken and left my mom with very little income due to losing my dad's retirement. She's put on everywhere for a job but no one seems to want to hire a senior citizen. She was already taking care of her two special needs dogs (one who has a heart problem, the other who has a liver problem) when her cat Tiger was diagnosed with double renal failure a few months ago. She was devastated and had to figure out how to pay for his biweekly treatments. She was barely scraping by when Tiger's sister was diagnosed as diabetic, requiring insulin. I reached out to For the Love of Alex, knowing all the great work they do. I honestly didn't expect any help, just because we're usually the people who help others instead of people who ask for help. I was floored when FtLoA helped my mom in just a week's time, and with a lot more than we could have even hoped for. I cried, she cried. You're truly angels, Abby. We will pay it forward. God bless you!

I had an emergency situation with my sweet 2 year old fur baby boy Friday. He had crystals in his bladder and they stopped up his urethra. The vets said he needed surgery or he wouldn’t make it. We tried flushing his bladder out with a catheter first, but that didn’t work out. I contacted For the Love of Alex, Inc in my desperation. I have been strapped financially from having to get my own apartment and moving out of my mentally/emotionally abusive ex’s place. Norma took care of us with very minimal questions asked. I cannot thank her and FtLoA enough for saving my baby’s life. He’s been with me through so much and I couldn’t imagine my life without him. I will be doing many fundraising campaigns for them through Facebook over the years in thanks for their efforts.

For the Love of Alex Inc has been nothing short of a miracle nonprofit!! Our young rescue puppy who is only 16 weeks became very ill within the past week and had spent multiple nights in the animal hospital and I had reached out to For the Love of Alex Inc for some financial assistance because as many of us know that the vet bills continue to pile up and we ran out of funds. Our puppy Maui means so much to us and without For the Love of Alex Inc we are positive that if they hadn't stepped in to help us along this journey that Maui would no longer be here with us. Although he isn't 100% better we were able to figure out a diagnosis. We had recently found out that Maui will need surgery if we would want to help him live a few extra years and although the risks may be high, For the Love of Alex had told us that whatever we decide to do they will help. We couldn't be anymore grateful for these angels, they saved Maui and plenty of other animals lives too.

I first heard about For The Love of Alex in 2013. I have always loved animals and was amazed at Elizabeth's (or as I called her, Alex's mom) tireless work to help animals all over the country, which healed many human hearts, as they didn't have to face the loss of their beloved fur baby. I donated whenever I was able and was glad to be an Alex's Angel. Last July, after a strong thunderstorm in our small town, a little yellow kitten appeared on our porch and decided that my daughter and I were his "people". We gave him some dog food as we were also the proud " people " of two mini dachshunds, and that was all he needed to just follow the dogs through the dog door and right into our hearts. As I hadn't had a cat in over 14 years, I reached out to Elizabeth for any information she could give us to best care for this little guy and she was amazed at how much he looked like her Tiny. I kept her updated with pictures and she answered any questions I had about how to keep our Finnian happy and healthy. Early this year I was greatly saddened to hear of Elizabeth's passing, but was happy to hear that her board of directors were committed to continue the work she had started, never thinking that I would soon need the help of this amazing organization.
Early this month we noticed that Finn was becoming lethargic, not eating well and just not being his normal exhuberant self. On Sunday, July 8th, we discovered him hiding behind the couch, and when we got him out, he was unable to walk without falling over! We immediately headed to Veterinary Emergency Services in Verona, Va, 30 minutes from our home. After being examined thoroughly, Finn was diagnosed as being blind, with possible swelling in his brain and we were told that he needed to go to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital at Virginia Tech as soon as possible. I had recently had knee surgery and was off work for several months, so we knew that financially we would not be able to pay for the care he would need there. While waiting for the discharge instructions, I reached out to For The Love of Alex, imploring them for any help they could provide. Within an hour we were told that Finn would be funded for any care that he needed so we headed for Blacksburg, 2 1/2 hours away.
Upon arrival, Finn was taken to the intensive care section of the small animal clinic and evaluated by Dr Hyeon Jeong, and we were given a plan of action. Finn would be admitted and an MRI and spinal tap were scheduled for the next day. Dr Jeong alleviated many of our fears, just because he was determined to discover what was wrong with our cat. So we left him there and headed home. We were called that night with a report on how Finn was doing and then received a call early the next morning from Dr Richard Shinn the Neurology Resident. He was concerned that Finn could possibly have FIP, which is fatal in 95% of cases, so we spent the day worried about whether Finn would ever be well again. Dr Shinn called multiple times that day, giving us updates after each test and confirming that we approved for each consecutive test that he needed. I was able to say yes, to each request because I knew that For The Love of Alex was behind me financially and were committeed to helping us bring our kitty home. It was with immense relief and gratitude that I took the last call that day giving us his diagnosis. He did not have FIP. He was suffering from a cryptococcal fungus infection in his central nervous system and it had caused his brain to swell and impair his vision and also his ability to walk. His prognosis is fair to good according to Dr Shinn, and he may need to be on anti-fungal medicine the rest of his life, but we are so grateful that he will have " a life". We can never thank For The Love Of Alex enough for that life. We still have our amazing Finn and we are immensely thankful.

My beautiful kitty named Piglet became 100% urinary blocked. There was no way I would be able to afford the vet care he needed. For The Love of Alex stepped up and handled everything. All of his bills were paid and they even sent cases of prescription food. It was really nice being able to focus on getting Piglet well without the stress of trying to get his bills paid. Thank you to this nonprofit for being awesome.

I needed to get some lab work done for my certified service dog but since I live on disability, I didn't have the money to get my little Coco in. This amazing organization paid for the bill before I even had taken Coco in. I was able to go in, get the lab work done and didn't have to pay anything when we checked out.

I will never be able to thank the caring people that are a part of this organization enough. Thank you for your help.

I am forever grateful for FLOA and their Angels. My sweet baby girl Brooklyn had grown an enormous tumor on her inner thigh that was interfering with her urinating and walking. I had barely been able to afford a vet appointment let alone a specialized surgery. With the help of FLOA Brooklyn was able to get her tumor removed and is recovering from her surgery. Her overall wellbeing has already improved tenfold. FLOA and their angels are truely a blessing. Tha k you for everything and I hope to stay in touch.

For the love of Alex Inc is a great non profit organization. They helped my boy's and I with our puppy Sadie when she got hit by a car and needed surgery on both of her back hips. The surgery was over $900 and they paid for it. Now our Puppy is doing great. We will forever be grateful for The love of Alex and Alex's Angels. If it wasn't for them, we might not have Sadie with us today.
