Review for For The Love Of Alex Inc, Bethlehem, PA, USA
I am so very grateful to have been referred to such an amazing organization! Long story short, my partner and I took in two young, very obvious house cats that were sadly dropped off at a local park. They were so friendly and came up crying and rubbing on my partners leg so wanting to make sure they didn’t end up trustingly approaching the wrong human decided we would give them a permanent home. We noticed fairly shortly after that one of them, Mango, had a lump in her chest and labored breathing so we mentioned it to the vet when we took them in for their first health check. After doing X-Rays the vet informed us that she had serious trauma due to being hit by a car or being kicked really hard which has resulted in a diaphragm hernia that was causing her intestines to push up into her lung. Without surgery there was no telling how long she had to live so we knew we needed to act fast. I reached out to several charities and one was willing to cover $300 but at the very low end this surgery was going to cost at least $3000. With the current situation a lot of us are in due to the economy it was highly unlikely we could even save a sufficient amount in a realistic amount of time so I continued to reach out to charities. I was referred to For The Love Of Alex and really wasn’t expecting much help at this point but was graciously surprised. They were everything I could’ve hoped for. They were so very kind and cared so much for the sole purpose of helping an innocent being get to live out a full, happy life. They covered the estimated costs and when it ended up costing an exponentially higher amount they didn’t even bat an eye, they just wanted to help. I even got a phone call from the overnight emergency hospital she was staying at telling me how this charity had to be the nicest charity they had worked with. They checked in often to make sure she was doing fine with her recovery and offer ideas on ways to make it smoother for her and I. Mango is doing amazing and her vet now calls her my miracle kitty. My family is so happy to know that she has the opportunity to live out her best life. I just can’t express enough how thankful I am to have found them!
