Review for For The Love Of Alex Inc, Bethlehem, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I don’t know what I would have done without the amazingly generous help from Love Of Alex! I initially brought my 9-year-old cat, John, to the vet because he was biting his own stomach to the point of developing open sores. During this visit, my vet diagnosed him with periodontal disease with resorptive lesions. He required dental abstraction of three teeth. When the vet showed me the inside of his mouth, it was very clear that he must have been in a lot of pain and probably for quite some time. His stomach biting was likely an attempt to soothe that pain.

Not only did he need oral surgery, but the medication prescribed to him for his stomach biting had to be specially compounded for him and was quite expensive.

Although I was working when I agreed to become John’s mom 7 years ago, in the past few years, my disabilities worsened, and currently, my only income is a fixed monthly disability payment. I could not afford the anticipated cost of his surgery from my small monthly income. Nor could I reasonably afford the minimum payments and interest rates for various medical loans and credit cards.

I was devastated. Every hour that went by, I knew he was suffering, and I was a nervous wreck trying to figure out how to get him medical attention and alleviate his pain while still being able to pay my other bills. But John is so important to me and such a good baby, I had to try every avenue I could think of to help him.

I spent days applying to as many places as possible, seeking financial help. While I was able to secure two smaller grants, the balance for the entire bill was still out of my range.
Carla from Love Of Alex reached out to me. We spoke, and she was so nice and understanding. When she told me that Love Of Alex would pay the balance, not only for the surgery but for the expensive medication he needed as well, I cried with relief and happiness.

Because of the generous grant from Love Of Alex, I was able to get John in for surgery on August 10th. John hates to be in the car and was terrified of what was happening to him. But later that night, when I picked him up and was driving him back home, I could already tell he was so happy. And he’s continued to be happy in the days since. He really seems like a weight has been lifted off of him (even though he’s still quite a chunky baby). He never leaves my side now.

Carla has continued to inquire about John's recovery, and I really appreciate that kind of caring communication.

The help that they offered was one of the most generous, kind, humane things I’ve ever experienced in my life.

Thank you so much For The Love Of Alex!
