Review for For The Love Of Alex Inc, Bethlehem, PA, USA
Miko, our 6 -year-old orange tabby, was diagnosed with feline idiopathic cystitis about three years ago. One day he got sick and I rushed him to the vet's office. They told me his bladder was obstructed and they had to do emergency surgery to unblock him. When an obstruction happens, the cat can't urinate and they become sick. It's an emergency and if not treated the cat will suffer and die within 24 hours or less.
Miko spent a few nights being monitored but he made it through and we got to bring him home. The vet told me he needed to be on a prescription diet. At the time, I didn't understand just how important this prescription diet was so at first I gave it to him but it got too expensive so I resumed his regular cat food.
A few months ago, Miko showed the same symptoms as before and I rushed him to the veterinarian once again. They told me he was blocked again and this time his condition was explained better so I understood that he becomes blocked because of struvite crystals. I understood that the prescription diet food that he has to take for life, is important because it helps break down these crystals and provides a healthy Urinary PH level as well as restricts certain mineral levels . A prescription diet specifically for Mikos condition is necessary for him to remain on for life so it reduces the chances of him becoming blocked again. The problem is that this prescription food is so expensive.
I'm a single full-time parent on assistance. I'm unable to work due to an accident I was in years ago. I had no idea what to do because my daughter and I didn't want to lose Miko as he brings us so much happiness and he is part of our family. He's full of mischief and personality while loving and I know he has a lot of life left in him . I want to give him the best life that I can.
I reached out to several different places and finally , after being turned down by other places, I found For The Love of Alex and told them our story. Finally , someone heard me and listened to Our story and recognized how much we needed help. It felt like someone cared and a huge weight was lifted. I had hope again. Everyone has been more than helpful and kind to us and we are very grateful for the donors who have helped Miko stay healthy by their contributions that help with his prescription diet. For the Love of Alex is compassionate, personable, understanding, and recognizes that there are animals in need and owners who may need a little help caring for their fur babies when things get tough.
I can't say enough good things about this organization. Carla has been so kind and she has worked with me to find what Miko needed and always is quick to respond if I have a question. My daughter and I are very grateful for the donors as well who have helped us.
I'm happy to say Miko is doing well and is happy.
