Review for Sanctuary At Maple Hill Farms Inc, Auburn, ME, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I've worked with Maple Hill for close to ten years. I've watched the rescue grow and extend their reach, educating themselves, learning best practices and spreading knowledge and compassion not only in their community but nationwide.
I am so pleased although not surprised to see their good work now as humanitarians.

This rescue sets the bar for what a horse rescue should be. It's not just about rescuing and educating on horse slaughter. It's about making your scope broader to help humans and horses make a better world.

Keep up the great work!

Review for Angel Acres Horse Haven Rescue, Inc., Glenville, PA, USA

Rating: 1 stars

This rescue's activies are disgusting! They only have a couple of horses in their care and they seem more interested in soliciting funds to put billboards up then actually helping horses. Their adoption prices are deplorable also! Most rescues charge between 5-700 for horses but their prices go into the thousands!
It's all about the publicity for them so they can get funds. With all the monies coming in they should do more to help more horses.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have seen the messages they post begging for money and then if you want to support a different horse rescue they put out a public message telling everyone not to send funds to the other rescue. They are greedy and just want the money for themselves.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Rescues need to work together to help the horses and it's clear that this rescues motive is all money related and if the funds dont go to their coffers then they dont want the money going anywhere even if it is to help other horses.

Role:  Donor & Donated funds .

I haven't been to this rescue myself as we are many miles apart - but I met Jo online on Facebook and we have shared a lot of news, tips, rescues and ideas. When we took in a starving off the track Thoroughbred in December of 2010, this rescue sent us money for his care. There is nothing but great to say about this my opinion and if you do your research, you will see the truth. Thank you Angel Acres for all you do for the horses. Clairese Austin, Ex. Review for Another Chance 4 Horses Inc, Bernville, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

This rescue does great things! The previous reviewer has completely mistated and lied about the organization. My family adopted 2 horses and so have 2 of my friends.
The costs to adopt are listed on the website and the cost for a coggins is not 110, It is $55 for a coggins and transport. $30 for the coggins and $25 transport.

To slander this rescue and say they send horses to slaughter is despicable! The horses at the rescue get the best of care ALWAYS!

I have adopted horses and witnessed the care they give to the horses.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

The website has alot of information on it and alot of the links do not work.
