Review for Soldiers' Angels, San Antonio, TX, USA
I love volunteering as a Team Angel with Soldiers' Angels. I have no military background so I am grateful to have the opportunity to connect and support those who do. It's been special to read the stories of our incredible WWII vets who are now in their upper 90's and 100's; I had no idea that an individual accomplished and sacrificed so much. And, when I write to deployed service members, I stop and think about where they are and their commitment to support the presence of our Nation globally. Until I became a volunteer, I hadn't thought much about any of this. At a time COVID restrictions were imposed, I found this organization and jumped on the chance to do something meaningful from the confines of my home. I've served on three teams and each provides me with the chance to focus on deserving patriots. Going beyond oneself to help others is always uplifting and I will continue to volunteer with SA regardless of COVID trends. It's especially nice to know that through Soldier's Angels, what I have to give is so appreciated by the recipients and the organization. I'm proud to be part of this caring group of people who hail from every state. I'm particularly proud to mention those Angels who live in other countries and volunteer because they appreciate the work of our service members enough to be part of this organization.
Review for Soldiers' Angels, San Antonio, TX, USA
I've been a Soldiers' Angels volunteer for seven months and I'm in awe with the scope of services provided to service members, their families, and veterans. I had no idea of the number of unmet needs of our service members, especially those deployed. The fact that Soldiers' Angels can help fill those gaps is tremendous. This is a large organization yet it infuses a personal touch and human connections in all its work and everywhere it functions. Even from afar, I feel in touch with those to whom I write or send gifts. It's also heartening to be aware of volunteers across the country who share this call to support our service members and veterans. I read a comment from one new volunteer from Belgium who said she joined because her country has nothing like this organization and she values what the American soldiers did in WW II and continue to do globally today. What a tribute to our men and women and this organization.
